Actually as shitty as what FB and some of these other social media sites are doing by letting information from fake sources circulate unchecked I really can't be mad at them anymore. The people who read those stories and believe and share them are folks that actively want to be misinformed. If FB didn't supply them with their daily dose of Fake News they'd just look for it somewhere else.

It's almost a double negative. The 50s were unquestionably awful, but at least there were people in the White House promoting change and progress. Trump and his puppets don't care about what happened in NC, they're just kind of annoyed with the coverage and those standing for good and equality were deemed part of the problem.
The fight against the alt-right is solely in the hands of the citizens. It's also not heartening, given the climate, that dems are willing to leave minorities behind in an attempt to cater to Trump voters in future elections.
It is certainly easy to lose hope when you look at the broader picture of what's happening right now. No doubt about it, these are dark times.

Interestingly, he's also widely hated by Central and Eastern European nationalists (like Orban), which leads me to believe there's Putinist fuckery afoot.
