1080p/60fps game versus sub1080p/30fps game. It would be an achievement for RAD not to outdo ND.
It's 1080/30 for Uncharted right now and they haven't answered questions as to whether or not their target is still 60.

Despite the Naughty Gods label, they weren't ever notably ahead of Sony's other studios graphically. KZ2 blew Uncharted away, and they never bested GoW3 to me.
They made better games than GG and SSM obviously, but graphically I don't think they were in another league or something.
If you are talking about ACU it looks great on PC .
On consoles that is a whole other ball game.
Say a game look great on PC compare to consoles don't mean much as it should be that way .
To be fair, AC Unity is pretty much broken on consoles so it isn't quite as impressive and would be a poor choice to use to demonstrate that this gen is a big jump. I'd imagine that when your game is dropping down to low framerates in the teens and hovers near 25 fps while running at a 1600 x 900 resolution, you can make an open world game look pretty close to a linear game pretty easily given the resources to generate the assets. The fact that an open world game can not just have the great technological level, but also look like they are on the same level as more linear games is a first and that should shut up all the people who talk about this gen not being a big jump.
IMO from a tech perspective Rockstar was the most impressive developer last gen. I personally can't wait to see what they deliver after ACU and the upgraded version of GTA 5 that they have given us so far.
The difference in quality between both images is staggering. Its almost like you're looking at images of a cross gen game with the Nathan on the left being next gen and the Nathan on the right being last gen.
The game looks great consoles. Character models, textures, animations, shaders are all still top notch on console. 900P and lesser AA doesn't change that.
Yeah GFX wise i don't think anyone can say with a straight face they were ahead of GG or SSM first party wise.
Them being naught gods came for the all around package and shit load of game of the year awards
Uncharted 1 was the first Sony game with HDR, Killzone 2 and 3 never had that.
GOW3 didn't have god rays, Uncharted 3 and TLOU did.
So no. ND incorporated more significant graphical effects into their games than any other studio in SCEWW.
God rays. That's what does it for this poster.
Proof, there won't ever be a definitive answer in this debate.
Naughty Dog is going to deliver, hard.
Their games are going to revolutionize the industry, starting with Uncharted 4.
Tomb Raider is but the start, it will be one of many to flatter the Dogs with cheap imitations.
Uncharted 4 is going to be the start of its own genre.
It's 1080/30 for Uncharted right now and they haven't answered questions as to whether or not their target is still 60.
Still no confirmation that this will still be a 60fps game. No confirmation that it wont be, but we do know what we've demoed is only 30fps, so its possible that the previous 60fps target has been shifted.1080p/60fps game versus sub1080p/30fps game. It really is insane. Whatever one thinks of The Order - and given that they do the filmic black bars technique to be able to technically have the game running at a lower resolution - one has to be stunned at the visuals on display.
Naughty Dog, the gauntlet has been thrown down
Not sure if serious.God rays. That's what does it for this poster.

God Of War 4 will destroy them both graphically, and by a wide margin.
Mostly their Physically Based Materials are the most accurate I have ever seen in any game thanks to their advanced scanning tech.
BTW, everyone keeps posting pics and gifs of the airship gameplay. I couldn't find where to watch it: the official gameplay doesn't show that segment. Can anyone please provide me with a link? Thanks !
And TLOU is beyond all those gross AO solutions and has soft shadows.
(Seriously, they are great for characters instead of those enormous outlines)
Yeah, i read about it. It's not for every game, no one is implementing that in an open world game, but where you can use it (Uncharted 4 dit it too in the demo) it looks better than other solutions.Bad AO does that, good AO does not.
Also, the AO stuff in TLOU requires hand placed arttist stuff.
The environment looks really plasticy to me. Almost cartoonish.
I see they fixed one of my annoyances, drake now holds his flash light and aims ito instead of it mysteriously shining in the direction the camera faces.
But my biggest annoyance in the uncharted series is the over acting. Drake just makes noises far too often and has to talk or comment about everything. Sometimes it's cool and appropriate, other times it feels like silence is uncomfortable to the voice director, so they feel the need to have some kind of verbal noise every 10 seconds. I hate it.
You can see just how longer his jaw line is, it definitely softens him up and makes him look less gaunt and old imo.
No, you keep calling people out for making exaggerated comments, but then you make absurd comments of your own. TRE on PS4 looks vastly better than Uncharted 3 on PS3. No contest.
Question:
Did RAD actually outdo Naughty Dog in visuals?
Kind of difficult to compare given how far along RAD's game is compared to the build U4 was at, but man... I will say Ready at Dawn's visual detail is crazy.
Dudes nose started bleeding after Nate kicked him in the face.
Old Gamersyde version vs. new Gamersyde version with fixed black levels:

No more washed-out look.
Yeah, don't agree with any of that. Part of the charm is his quips in the heat of things. And plasticy? Looks more realistic than the previous version ever did.The environment looks really plasticy to me. Almost cartoonish.

Well to be fair Order is also running 4*MSAA (and I guess they will mix it with a post process AA roo like Forza horizon), that takes up considerable amount of bandwidth..compared to just post process AA.Sure, IQ and framerate are not like the reveal, but hey, at least there's a backdrop now ! and AI ! I think it was well worth the tradeoff
I never expected ND to be able to deliver that kind of fidelity, IQ and framerate ingame, but Drake himself doesn't look that different tbh; it's mostly the dramatic lighting making details stand out.
Go compare MGS V characters in "stormy night" and "sunset" lighting conditions and you'll see how much of a difference it makes. The wet-ish, night lighting trick has been used since Geow and always managed to make games look so much more convincing.
I'm quite liking the scenery (which in a game like Uncharted should always be the priority over characters' faces) and the pacing here. Not sure i like Drake's redesign. I mean, it's a good design it itself; they made him less handsome and more interesting, big nose and all but i think they changed him a bit too much.
It's easy when you don't have to deal with U4 open vistas and amount of foliage etc.
edit: and 537600 pixels less
We don't even know if U4 demo was an old build or not. So, it is too early to say who is better than the other.Question:

Getting rid of detail in the image isn't an improvement.
I am sorry, but your post embarasses me.
You basically say, Naughty dog are magicians (this typical naughty gods crap) and just because RAD is not ND (even though their game is more accurate from a rendering perspective), it isnt as good.
Tell me what you know about the UC4 rendering pipeline, please, enlighten me to its magic that is somehow more "magical" than everything else.
character models: no
Animation: no
mesh resolution: okay, maybe, but not well used either way.
Effects: understandably yes, but only due to vram being vastly superior
resolution: yes.
Save for resolution, nothing makes TR get the visual edge in perception.

This game looks hot. Red hot. I don't get how some folks aren't impressed, but to each their own.
Indeed.lol if you think Uncharted 4 is gonna be 60fps. Right now it definitely is not
Joke post? Everything except for some volumetric lights in U3 is better in Tomb Raider.
I know, what game looks better right now?
