We have had to bust up Pokemon threads for going off the rails into creepytown. And Sonic threads. And Animal Crossing threads. Some people will do whatever they can to sexualize anything.

So if I'm reading you correctly, this is an invitation to post some Yoshi Inflation fetish shit all over this topic, right?

Honest question: What is your opinion on Fire Emblem and Etrian Odessy?

Yeah... that Splatoon thread ventured into that territory a few times as well.

But Pokemon though? Seriously?

Quoted for truth because I think Criminal Girls is a particularly extreme case in regards to fanservice and those sorts of things.

I think this is for the best in any case, cause ultimately the threads just devolve into people calling other people pedophiles and then those folks saying "NO" and lots of ugliness all around.

To be honest, considering what the activity in the game entails, it probably veers off far beyond any territories of fanservice, even if you consider fanservice to be anything sexual.

I was just asking because there are lots of Vita games with similar levels of fanservice... Criminal Girls is a JRPG where you level up characters, traverse dungeons, have random battles, buy sell items, etc just like many other games. There also is fanservice bits with young looking girls, but again, many other Vita games have this. But it is not all the game is about, like lots of posts in this thread would have you believe. If I am told a game like Criminal Girls is not allowed, then that means a number of other Vita games may not be allowed either.

See above. "Punishing" young looking girls with tools in sexual locations like in some of the images in the link bishoptl posted goes far beyond "fanservice." It's basically sexualizing and then objectifying them. That's gross. That is the main issue with this game and ones that fall into this line. The other mods have made this clear in their posts, go read them.

I'm all for ending censorship.

But WTF.

This is a game in which you sexually abuse and interrogate under-age/under-age looking girls. When it comes to content in which gameplay revolves events such as SEXUALLY ABUSING CARTOON/ANIME CHILDREN AS PUNISHMENT, I can't rationalize why someone would like it.

Sure, censorship is bad, and techinically things like this would have to exist in a "equal" society. but why in the fuck anyone would approve a game laced with pedophilia is beyond me. If this game didn't add those censors, I'm pretty sure the game would be illegal for some of the things that popped on on my Google Image Search on Safemode, (AFAIK depictions of under-age children [animated or not] in sexual depicitions is outlawed in the US.)

If you buy this game for those scenes, or sincerely argue that this material isn't harmful pre-censor, I'll find you to be utterly disgusting.

Ok real talk time

I made the last thread for more people to be aware of this game coming over here. This game looks bad, from graphics to content. No one should support bad games like this being localized and a message should be sent to NISA to stop scraping the bottom of the barrel for releases.

I don't want to see more shit games from NISA and I hope mods can make sure that there is an outlet on gaf to voice their opinion on it so NISA can see it.

Not to be mean but I'm having a hard time believing that was your intent.

The game is pretty obviously something most normal people would be disgusted by, and I doubt you posting about it would dissuade any would-be buyers.

To give you an idea, I tried to simply link an image and a mod deleted the post. It was pretty disturbing, tbh.

I'm not messing here anymore, I wasn't supposed to come back in the first place anyway.

well if you post sexually suggestive content of course, but LITERALLY child pornography? i think there's some of hyperbolic statements going around...

As you said with starting the thread, I think it's a worthwhile matter to discuss, but at the end of the day, GAF rules go.
Yeah, I'm satisfied with just the discussion even if nothing changes. I was completely expecting this thread to be unceremoniously locked after a dozen or so posts.
You seem to be confusing the right to freedom of speech in public places with private.

If you're in a private establishment - say a bar - and you start saying something the bar manager takes offense to, they can throw you out as the 'Right of admission is reserved'.

Same goes for internet forums. This isn't a public place, its the equivalent of that bar - in fact, GAF, being a members only forum which doesn't allow guest accounts, is more akin to a private club that people can listen too.

I've seen this argument on a number of forums over the years, and it just comes down to a misapprehension of the concepts of private and public space.
I am not. See my other posts. I was just talking about my personally held beliefs. I'm aware of the difference between private and public. I just thought the way things were handled was a shame.

That's actually a really good point. Only issue as a result is I don't feel that there's a good term to fall back on to adequately express what the game entails with any sort of concision, which is frustrating.

This is kind of related, kind of not, but can we also talk about the super creepy treehouse things? Or, like, any creepy reaction to real people that clearly know this place exists?

It's fucking weird. The Treehouse streams were full of "She's my waifu" or "She looks like a 14 year old girl" or "Let's go look for this guy's twitter so we can find shirtless pictures of him oh god so hot."

When did this become a high school? This sort of thing makes me embarrassed to be reading it, keep your fucking hormones in check.

In my mind I think that the "Other Side" is okay with the sexualization of what appear to be prepubescent girls. I know it isn't real and it is just a "game". I don't know how to describe it any other way.

"Games" such as Ethnic Cleansing wouldn't be tolerated here.

Why should this be?

I read Fire Emblem a few times in this thread. What the hell did I miss? I have not played Awakening so I'm guessing the waifus crap went too far?

Irregardless of anything, this forum is under moderator jurisdiction.

Your posting privileges, whatever you think they are, are the prerogative of the forum moderators.

What exactly is "fan service"? I always thought it was when a developer threw in a nod to another series, like putting Mega Man in Smash Bros. In this thread it seems like it is code for "creepy shit"

I am not him, but comparing games like this to Fire Emblem and Etrian Odyssey is so laughable.

There's only one questionable character in a roster of so many characters and no, you don't get to molest that character in any way, shape, or form.

So no, the "waifus crap" didn't went too far. In fact, it's integral to many of the game's most important gameplay mechanics.

What better way to get people's attention

UUUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :p

Well, I really felt that it was underwhelming localization announcement and the game already had bad rep before the reveal. So I didn't follow the drama.

I cannot say if there is a moment when we should draw the line regarding this types of games. But I feel that there is a line in my taste between Senran Kagura to this stuff. A line that many that are "against" or "in for" this pandering stuff doesn't want to see.

It had a loli presented in a very skimpy outfit who was also a romance option with the excuse that she was "actually" a 1000 year old dragon.

I'm completely fine with the banning of discussions regarding those kinds of "games", the fact that a market for them exists will never cease to baffle me.
That doesn't mean other games from the company (NIS or w/e their name is) should be banned from discussion, I suppose they have other titles that aren't necessarily frowned upon.

Yeah, while I try not to judge anyone for their yearnings or lifestyle, I do feel uncomfortable when people are so shameless lusting for people who can see what they're saying and be affected by it

It kind of tainted Treehouse Live and made me wonder if some of the people who wanted it to continue did so for less-than-game-related reasons

There's one character who's a skimpily dressed little girl, but she's "actually 1000 years old".

You can marry anyone to her regardless of age. There's other young people, but none of them are as in-your-face as she is.

fan service can have multiple meanings. In the context of men/women in sexual positions it means exactly that, pandering to fans of a certain subset of boys/girls/men/women with a certain degree of sexualization.

My over-sexualized pheromones can be transmitted through the internet.

Turning everyone into voracious lust bunnies.

Censored dildos?

I AM BOYCOTTING YOUR GAME UNTIL YOU RELEASE IT IN ITS UNCENSORED, ORIGINALLY INTENDED FORM!

STOP COMPROMISING THIS IMPORTANT ARTISTIC VISION!!

I hope you realize the irony of your post.

Crying "logical fallacy" is irrelevant. Nobody doesn't know that ad hominem isn't a sound formal logical method. You got insulted and then said "I was insulted!". We all know, we were all there, we all saw it. But we aren't Plato and we're not writing tracts of ironclad Truth here. This isn't a court of law. "This guy has written some bad things" is a pretty useful heuristic for deciding if future things aren't worth reading.

Seeing super mild fanservice = punishing naked 6 year old anime girls by touching them. Duh.

The thoughts of same people in here make me mentally shocked.

It can certainly mean that, but it's also often used to describe light (usually), often sexual, pandering, a common trait in otaku-centric media. But I agree with Shouta here having read his response, this game is far beyond that, and fan service really isn't the right terminology any longer.

I did read the other mods posts.
For example on page 7:
So the consensus we've reached in regards to these games that prominently feature underage girl fan-service is to simply not give them a platform here.
There are many games that prominently feature underage girl fan-service, again, for example Senran Kagura Versus. This is why I am asking. Punishment isn't mentioned anywhere there. I posted also on page 7 asking if it was just the punishment itself that is the problem but nobody replied to me.

If I google image search the game, and it makes me want to clear my browser history, I believe it deserves a good nuking. I support the moderation policy.

Yeah, that was me. At the same time, I am impressed with how many mods there are. People just keep showing up out of nowhere.

I'm actually put off by the art-style of the EO games to the point I don't really want to buy them, even though the gameplay looks right up my alley. At the very least, I don't think I could bring myself to buy a retail copy and have that box in my house.

Same reason I've yet to buy Bravely Default lol.
I haven't played the game yet so total lack of context here (I do own it tho), but I think BD's choice of SEXY CLOTHES could have just been an unfortunate coupling with the chibi-art style SE did for their 3D portable JRPG's (while the actual box art the characters makes them seem like adults, but again I have no clue about their ages), but seeing the outcry that a character had a few more belts attached to their outfit or pants covering their legs in the western release was pretty funny.

This thread's turning into a bit of a clusterfuck, but I am wondering what the GAF stance is on something like Kill La Kill which I thoroughly enjoyed (not into anime much in the first place) and had a ton of fan-service despite the cast mostly being high-school aged girls (though they may have been roughly 18/20 by the end of the series, I forget). I don't like going to the OT-forum much in the first place, but a show like that being lumped in with a game like this would be a bigger deal to me.
