New Splinter Cell that uses the cloud for multiplayer.
I can see where MS is going with this, and on the surface it looks like a good idea, but they seem to constantly forget that everything they do is constantly met with the greatest suspicion of sinister motives. As a result MS and DF should have expected lots of accusations of bias or payola or whatever. MS probably thought "DF is trusted and we think we have a technical winner here, it will be more believable coming from them." and DF thought "This will drive clicks like nobody's business, plus we'd really like to get our hands on Scorpio from a tech-angle". But in the end it's just going to end up hurting DF in some people's eyes and those same people won't believe DF's commentary on Scorpio any more than they would have an MS suit.
Sony fans should be happy about this news if anything. This exclusive and the accompanying distrust it brings will give them ammo to invalidate the results of any head-to-heads that Sony may lose in the months following Scorpio's release.
I have no problem whatsoever with this Microsoft - DF collaboration to reveal Scorpio's tech.
Seriously looking forward to it.
Oh......
Yo:
If you think that Eurogamer / Digital Foundry have such low ethical standards that they'd sacrifice their integrity to promote Scorpio, maybe you never had very high regard for them in the first place.
If you suddenly consider this the turning point where you no longer trust DF, maybe consider whether you liked DF only because their coverage tended to be favorable toward your preferred platform?
DF should be keeping MS and their consoles in check, MS shouldn't be using them to advertise and reveal their products.

thats not how any of this works
Loss of sales
LolLoss of sales
I love this site.
New Splinter Cell that uses the cloud for multiplayer.
You lose sales when you put stuff in a bad angle, no ?
Does that mean Sony sued them in the last gen? Or MS already suing them this gen?
Cuz DF have said bad things about both companies.
They provide a tech analysis. This i presume, and pretty safe to say, will be a tech analysis of new hardware.
They're not the PR company of MS. They got an exclusivity deal to cover the specs first is all.
Sorry, can't trust that independance anymore
Big money is involved in game dev and that trust is being broken
well said!Yo:

Hype ruined. Microsoft is probably paying off Sam Fisher as well.PLEASE be a hint at either OG Xbox BC/ports or a new Splinter Cell. I'm not sure which one id like more.
We're talking about unreleased hardware, if DF shuts down hype about it in the slightest, you bet MS won't be happy
WTF is this? I was there with you until the last paragraph.I can see where MS is going with this, and on the surface it looks like a good idea, but they seem to constantly forget that everything they do is constantly met with the greatest suspicion of sinister motives. I'm actually surprised that they chose to go this route. I am happy that they are trying to be transparent from the jump. My interest has been shifted from meh to hmmmm.Yep, sounds like an interesting way to engage with the community through DF. Look forward to it!

He lost me by the third sentence.WTF is this? I was there with you until the last paragraph.
The conspiracy theories in this thread are bonkers. DF was probably chosen because their own writers and coverage of the PS4 Pro event were far more effective in selling the hardware than anything else. Most people and outlets who watched the stream were meh on it but Leadbetter's had a large, in depth write up with glowing impressions and since then they have expanded their coverage to include proper 4K video. This is a product for the tech and performance focused crowd and DF is the best place to deliver that.
Shit son. What I'd do for a new Splinter Cell.
Can you please disable the comments on the video once you upload it?

Like, I knew that this whole thing would crumble the minds of some people but I didn't expect people to go batshit insane this early. If this is the amount of entertainment on Tuesday then Thursday is going to be absolutely fantastic! So many good posts.
Anyway, I wonder what size HDD it'll come with? Or if there are multiple sizes I wonder what the smallest will be? What's the largest configuration now? 2TB, right?
What is this?
Digital Foundry just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about pixel counting culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in IGN where you can become successful by being a shill. If you screw someone over on pixel counting, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the image quality enthusiast public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Scorpio, nor will they ever trust Digital Foundry again. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Digital Foundry has alienated an entire reader base with this move.
Digital Foundry, publicly apologize and cancel the piece on Scorpio or you can kiss your business goodbye.
