Didn't watch it much as a kid, but figured I'd check it out since Bob Ross was such a cultural icon. Also have more appreciation for him since I live in the city that he started painting in.

They don't shut people down at all, they even created a specific section for when people want to do some nongaming related things.

There's even some streamers who will make clay models of game characters when a new game comes out who list themselves under that game for more exposure and Twitch doesn't care.

As a yungun when i watched this show.

The most boring thing ever for an 8 year old. But i was so compeled to watch. Its such a soothing experience. Cant wait to watch it again.

I know, but it was just like a month ago that they shut down OHN (or another Metal Gear channel) for "non-gaming content" because of a long cutscene in MGS4.

They're pretty protective of the Bob Ross/Joy of Painting IP, so I'm assuming that this is fully sanctioned.

I've watched a lot of episodes of his show - all of the first 6 or 7 seasons, and bits and pieces of the others. It's very relaxing and makes for good background noise when I'm working on something complicated or frustrating.

Creative and Music categories have been around for a while now. I imagine it's because it was his birthday today

I've been watching these on YT for the past couple of days. The mountain technique and reflections in the water one amaze me every time. So simple to do and looks amazing.

Thanks for posting that! I'm currently trying to improve at painting miniatures so this should be great to watch.

As for Ross, back in high school my friends made fun of me for watching him during the summer. Not only is he interesting to watch but he's a great cure for a restless night. I had episodes recorded on vhs that I'd put on if I couldn't sleep and they'd knock me right out every time. Since finding the youtube channel I've tried a couple of times recently and it still works.

Watching Bob Ross paint is super relaxing.
I'll stick to watching my usual streamers on Twitch tho. I think a YouTube channel would be more fitting.

I think it is cool they have creative and music sections, but makes me wonder what the overall plan for twitch is. I like more varied channels, but then you end up with justin.tv pt 2. Maybe that is the goal.

It took the Bob Ross estate an absurdly long time to figure out how popular he was online, but it's good to see them really going for broke now that they're up to speed. I do wish he was still alive, because he would be like the biggest star on Twitch ever. Imagine Bob Ross painting livestreams. Imagine how much he'd enjoy directly interacting with people as he painted. It would be the best.
