As any customer of Nintendo's various DD services can tell you, they certainly aren't lacking in great software. Unfortunately, what they do lack is a great interface to show off that software. That's where GAF comes in!

Included below is a list of recommendation and review threads to give you a few ideas about where to spend your Nintendo Points - and where not to!

Channels.gif

Nintendo will occasionally make new Channels available through the Wii Shop, or update the system firmware of the Wii and DSi with new features. Any new Channels or updates will be listed here.

New thread up and a couple of little tweaks:

-- A Secret Santa header and link for Cheesemeister's thread. Go, take part! :-)

-- Japanese downloads dropped. I can't justify the time to try and keep on top of checking and translating these now that the place I usually get the info from has stopped doing it. If there's demand for them to return, I'll re-think. Hope this isn't too annoying for anyone.

-- Old WiiWare demos remain listed until they're removed. I'd hope someone in the US can keep me right with the demos there, as I can't check them like I can the Euro releases.

I don't really want to volunteer for exclusive duty, but I'll try to keep you posted when I notice. As of yesterday they still had all 2010 demos though.

Also: Fluidity! And demo! Sweet!

Just letting me know if there are any that should be removed as and when you notice them would be more than enough, thanks :D

Two VC games :D I see that Capcom's arcade games are starting to get released, so Ghosts N' Goblins shouldn't be far off :D

Will get Fluidity Demo, may get Fluidity (been interested in the game since it was announced)

Overall, a good week!

Pretty good week.
NINTENDO DOWNLOAD: FLUIDITY HAS WIIWARE SERVICE OVERFLOWING WITH DOWNLOADABLE FUN

Meanwhile, a pair of arcade classics from Capcom - Wolf of the Battlefield: COMMANDO and SONSON™ - are now available via the Virtual Console™ service, letting fans enjoy old-school battle action on the Wii™ system. And if those battles aren't enough for you, check out Dairojo! Samurai Defenders for the Nintendo DSiWare™ service.

WiiWare

Fluidity
Publisher: Nintendo
Players: 1
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone) - Comic Mischief
Price: 1,200 Wii Points; demo version available for 0 Wii Points
Description: A magical illustrated encyclopedia called Aquaticus has been tainted by a vial of evil ink called the Influence. As a pool of water that can take on alternate forms of ice and steam, you must overcome obstacles scattered across the pages of Aquaticus and save it from the corruptive Influence. Tilt and twist your Wii Remote™ controller to use the various forms and properties of water on your free-flowing journey through Aquaticus, where every page has multiple panels and illustrations that come to life. Tackle problems and defeat enemies to reveal magical Rainbow Drops, each of which will restore some of Aquaticus' power and allow it to open more chapters and grant you new powers. These additional powers, such as sticking to objects as a block of ice or shooting bolts of lightning as a steam cloud, will be essential to destroying the Influence and its minions. Along the way, you can also test your ingenuity and reflexes by finding hidden puzzle pieces. These pieces unlock playrooms that give you the opportunity to use the skills you've learned and race against the clock to complete as many challenges as possible. These challenges won't affect your quest to restore Aquaticus' powers, but everyone needs a break now and again, right? Fluidity offers the chance to slosh and slide your way through an imaginative environment filled with challenging adventures. Are you ready to dive into this unique experience?

Urgh, I have 1100 points on my account now, and Fluidity's 1200. What a gut-punch.

Capcom VCA pricing is much too expensive in a world where Sunset Riders is gonna be on a similar service for $3. Not to mention Capcom themselves published two arcade games with a host of enhanced functionality in Final Fight Double Impact, for nearly the same price as one of these barebones rom dumps.

Wow Fluidity looks awesome. A lot like Loco Roco, but with a couple extra layers of gameplay. But seriously, 1200 pts? Ugh.

hmmm, Fluidity is interesting. That's the kind of original and more risky games I am looking for when I look at platforms like Wiiware, PSN and XBLA.

Might just take one for the team.

Someone should make a Fluidity OT (that someone is not me) so it gets more visibility.

Will definitely try it out tonight.

I've been waiting for La Mulana for quite some time, hopefully it's a little beat easier than the original.

Magical Drop 3 coming out would be a fantastic christmas present. Even with the lame english sound effects it's still my favorite puzzle game.

Wow, Fluidity is really, really good. Kind of ignored all the trailers and ads for this game so I went in fresh and got hooked almost immediately. Love the way the world is laid out with the comic book frames and the whole open-world aspect where you almost always have the choice of multiple paths to take. I played for a little over an hour and I'm only about half way done with chapter 1 (the game has four chapters total) so I expect around 6-8 hours completion time minimum. There's also four unlockable challenge rooms but I haven't gotten to play any of them yet.

I highly suggest everyone here to at least download the demo and give it a try.

To those who have bought it already I recommend going into the options and changing the tilt speed to 'fast' and the max tilt to 'full'. It makes the tilt controls more responsive (not quite, but almost 1:1).

UK Nintendo site has updated.

Super Bonk is coming this Friday. Mario Party 2 is coming on Dec 24th.

Dammit, I NEED Mario Party! NOA better release it in time for Xmas!

Thanks, that was my only concern while playing the demo. I'll buy it today.

I forgot to check last night. Can anyone confirm or disprove this?

It doesn't even have a confirmed date yet, much less confirmation of a demo. It's only been ESRB rated, that's all.

Hey, stranger things have happened. Microsoft snuck ilomilo out there, and while I understand it's a different company on a different system operating a completely different way, it was entirely possible (however implausible) that something was released under the radar.

La Mulana did not pass Nintendo's Certification process from last I read. Who knows when it will come out.

That breaks my heart to hear given the amount of shovelware that does get passed. Hopefully it will next time.

Unfortunately, the shovelware tends to be at least technically in order and meets Nintendo's requirements. Given that the same kind of issues plagued the Cave Story release, there appears to be some kind of issue with Nicalis specifically.

Oh yeah NoE have a few more dates up (some old).
Wii Shop:
10th Dec: Cave Story, Super Bonk
24th Dec: Hydroventure (aka Fluidity) and Mario Party 2
DsiShop:
10th Dec: 1001 Crystal Mazes Collection, GO Series D-Tank

I considered that as well. Well, if they can get it out in March, it'll be about a year from Cave Story's release. Maybe they can just use March as Nicalis release month or something from here on out. /wishfulthinking

Fluidity is great, I've been playin the first chapter and even though I've gotten most of the rainbow drops, it looks like there's still a lot to do and find. I've only started the 2nd chapter and that made me go back to number 1 to use my new abilities there xD.

Just for the record, Magical Drop III is already available on the Wii in the Data East Arcade Classics collection.

Granted, it's $20, but you're getting 14 other games in addition to Magical Drop III.

The emulation in that release isn't very good though. Be warned.

Yeah, most of the games play fine, but a good number of them have audio issues (music getting cut short sometimes in particular) and Heavy Barrel plays really choppy.
