Watch_Dogs - Story Trailer leaks on Xbox360 preview dashboard / Release 05.27.14

Funny fact is that i defended next-gen consoles as a PC-gamer to other PC-gamers with the reasoning that you have to respect a console for less than $500 that can deliver the quality like Watch Dogs seemed to bring to the table...

....i feel used

Hmm... the movement and facial animation, in addition to some of the modelling and textures (high quality filtering aside), honestly look more like something out of previous-gen. I wasn't sure if it was just my expectations having changed after seeing more current-gen games in the mean-time, so I went back to watch the reveal gameplay. This looks much, much less impressive than previous materials suggested it would.

It's like an artistic and technical mesh between Splinter Cell Conviction and Assassins Creed IV.

Definitely downgraded from last years demo which was also downgraded from the previous demo.

Doesn't look that much of a step up from GTAV TBH. GTAV was a beast though so its nothing to be that ashamed of.

It is when GTA V is on PS3 and this is on PS4. =/

But it isn't. It flows really well into the gameplay.

Basic environmental actions are hotkeyed so all you need to do is look at what you need and push square to activate it.

More complex universal hacks can be done by layering.

It flowed well, and didn't seem intrusive to the actual game.

It's intrusive in the gamedesign. You need to inflitrate and hack a warehouse to activate the surrounding disctrict so you hack the cameras of the warehouse and then hack the database on some guard to retrieve code acces so you can hack the ctos server for hacking more things and activate sub mission where you see a woman harrassed and where you hack the phone and various thing in order to aprehend the bad guy. Like you said, hacking is done by just pushing a button, it's boring as hell and doesn't look very challenging, it just adds a layer of cumbersomeness in what could have been a good open world game.

That's why I was very happy about the delay and I'm hoping the game will focus on cool things rather than force hacking to do every trivial things.

Haha,... I constantly see that Southpark guy playing WoW when i hear these comments about it looking exactly like last gen. Not sure why.

It's a crossgen game. But the trailer is obviously not showing last gen.
How clouded are the eyes and memories of some people here?

Not saying it's the best looking game ever, but i can't wait for the comparisons between the PS360 version and the PS4 version. Maybe a good reminder for some. But never for long, as these "opinions" just move parallel with each gen.

This trailer is not PS360. That much should be clear to anyone here. Unfortunately this is not the case.
Pathetic to read these comments. And this is not being elitist, it's just extremely clear to see.

Ofcourse i can understand the hype being deflated for some.

Now i'd like to see a new gameplay demo. I'm not sure i want the game yet, but i'll def. keep an eye on the previews and reviews.

some actual gameplay shots:

I´m really not impressed at all.

Still going to get it because I think it will be a good game.

I´m just really pissed off at UBI for their fake reveals.

GTA IV looks better than this barf.

It's looking like Mario Kart 8 and Watch Dogs will be my games for May. Consideirng both come end of May, the wait for E3 won't be too boring! :D

M8 is coming out in May?

If so no wonder why Ubi decided to push it back to a later date

can't compete on the WiiU with one of Ninty's Top franchises

Lets hope they really showed a 360 trailer... if this is how will look like in the next gen, I'm out.

Yeah. Even if they're different audiences, I feel Ubisoft is (or because of Sony) are trying to push Nintendo out of the console business lol.

Whatever though... I'm getting both.

Ahahahaha oh I see it now.
May 27th would've been a HORRIBLE release date for Watch_dogs on Wii U
Mario Kart 8

The reasons for the complaints are multiple, but generally people don't appreciate feeling as though they've been deliberately mislead.

Now, unfortunately this kind of thing is going to happen when games have a protracted development. In the run up to E3 2012, no-one really knew (including Ubisoft I expect) what console hardware they would have to work with. Perhaps they got a very rough indication from MS/Sony (multi-core x86 with Dx11 feature-set GPU), perhaps they got nothing. Given what we know now, it's a pretty clear that what was shown at E3 2012 was a polished proof-of-concept running on PC hardware (at least GTX 680 imo).

Personally, I'd rather have a Watch_Dogs that had its development window shifted forwards one year and brought more to the table. I suppose the sequel will be more to my liking and I'm looking forward to seeing what Massive can do with The Division.

not to derail the thread but it's common knowledge gta5 runs poorly. have a look at digital foundry.

Why should I look at some website when I can just look at the game as I play it? It runs fine. Sorry, but I'm one of those people who doesn't get a stick up my ass whenever something runs lower than 60fps.

I really wanted to play this on PS4... but it looks like I'll have to switch to the PC version.

Assuming the PC version looks like E3 code still? ubi yudothis2us

GTA V runs great on my PS3. Maybe you need to repair or replace your console.

True, I had a launch PS3, but below 30fps was noticeable on my machine as well as my friends newer 500GB machine. I just think people saying "oh it only looks slightly better than GTA V" as a negative need to remember GTA V out put at 720p and sub 30fps.

Let me tell you when Infamous looks like it has more sophisticated story than you do, time to start rethinking your design approach. "They killed my girl, time to go on a rampage". I seriously hope it's just a hook and a bigger plot is down there.

sub-30fps 90% of the time is pretty crappy no matter how you look at it.

back on topic, i was getting watchdogs on pc but it's getting pretty annoying to see certain platforms get exclusive content. ubisoft did this with ac4 and now this.

Wow, that was one intense trailer!

I didn't realize how much violence was in this game. I thought it was all hacking and snooping.

Glad to see the gun is still mightier than the Smartphone!

I don't get how people here can't separate what was concept to what is reality, or making this out like Ubisoft pulls this every time. AFAIK, the only two instances that come to mind are this and likely The Division. RB6 Patriots might have made the list too if it weren't for our knowledge on the issues with its development.

As far as the demonstrated IQs of the demo, it's been clear since the second showing that it was what Ubisoft wanted to achieve rather than what the actual product was. Which, for those with long term memory issues, is nothing new to this industry or exclusive to Ubisoft.

What was shown at E3 initially probably wasn't CGI. Ubisoft's team were able to construct an isolated environment that could exemplify each element, so long as they kept to a specific path. More or less scripted as we've long suspected. Once the full game was taken into account, much of it had to be 'downgraded' to deal with everything else in the city, having A.I. be able to react in their own way, and pretty much everything that comes into account for a full product, let alone one that is open world.

Edit: Ubisoft should be more clear on what that demo was, but many of us have been here long enough to be able to differentiate between these things.

We've seen the game several times since the E3 reveal and it has never looked as good as it did, so why is this a surprise now to some people in this thread? We've known that the game had a downgrade since the first actual gameplay was shown.

Is there a gameplay demo since the E3 reveal that looks significantly better than this? Because it doesn't look particularly different to some of the stuff I've seen since the original reveal to me.

Really? Even as someone who thinks it looks nice, it runs poorly. It isn't as bad as GTA4 was, but it sure as hell doesn't run 'great'.

3 days before Mario Kart?

Ehhhhhh

They've done a horrible job hyping this game since the delay. I'm more excited for fucking Mario Kart.

It depends on your expectations. Anyone who expects a game of that scale and graphic fidelity to run at a higher than it did on last-gen is insane. If the frame rate was so low that it impacted the game play, that would be a problem. Thankfully that wasn't the case, nowhere near so.

When you say "After quite a long delay, Ubisoft finally annouced that Watch_Dogs would be released on May 27 on basically every platform except WiiU who would get the game a tad later. And as a bonus, they even sent us a new story trailer!" do you know any timeframe for when the Wii U version might come out?

Or is that "tad" qualifier just your assumption? :)

I'm hoping for June or July, Nintendo doesn usually put out big 1st party games during those months, it would at least help some that Watch_Dogs is going up against those games

Kind of underwhelmed by the graphics. Need to go back and watch previous videos but this seems like it looks worse. Maybe it's just the delay making me feel like this tho

That's gotta be PS3 or 360 footage, it has to be. It looks a tad better the GTA V did, so that would make sense.

Please Ubi.

I know last year they were saying it would be 30 fps on PS4/XBO. Wondering if they'll raise the frame rate assuming there was a visual downgrade.

They won't will they?

No, I see it too. Unless that's last-gen footage and not current gen, it definitely got another slight downgrade.

Did y'all see the same GTA V as I did? That game ran 20fps, was blurry, high pop-ins and poor textures. The only thing that game had going for it was lighting. Watch Dogs is a generational leap.

Well then, they have themselves to blame for setting the bar so high without actually knowing whether it could be achieved.

This was actually the game that got me excited for nextgen, lol.

GTA's art design and overall atmosphere blows my mind every time I boot it up. If the framerate was smooth... whoa, Jesus.
