PS+ version of Driveclub will have 5 tracks (1 country) and 10 cars.

It's an odd situation, because you had to have a metacritic of 75 (I think that was the number?) to get on PS+ last generation, but now as they've been day one indie games, we get them announced before the press rate them, so they don't have MC ratings. Knack would have been below par by Sony's rules, but presumably now they don't mind.

Personally, I'd like to see Knack on the service. Seems like the obvious first full priced retail game to me.

I wouldn't mind Knack being the first full priced PS+ game. I'd totally be willing to give it a go, and am somewhat short on current gen games in general atm... but there's no way in hell I'm buying it for £50 (digital only this gen).

That sucks man. My apple tree produces apples every month, and the cost of upkeep is pretty miniscule compared to the price I'd pay for apples at the store. If you want more apples, I'd suggest buying a full priced tree.
That doesn't seem right to me though, because while the apple tree was officially free, it played into the complete value proposition of the deal they gave me, in my eyes, that tree was part of the package. Oh man, that's the other thing I forgot to tell you, they delayed my apple tree, I'd call and call and they'd keep telling me I'd hear something soon or whatever, took eleven months before they sent it. Crazy.

For those complaining, you dont have to buy the game. Heck, you dont even have to download the free "demo". Unsubscribe from PS+ if that will right the horrendous wrong committed by sony. How dare they give out free content.

Most people aren't saying this.

Feel like mild disappointment isn't unreasonable. That's about it tho.

Not enough for me. I'll probably just buy the full game, but I guess it's still a good way for me to know whether I'll enjoy the game or not!

Well, as I have PS+ I assume upgrading will be cheaper than buying outright.

Although if they still have the 'half price PS+' if you buy the full game outright, that might be better value. Although they might not have that offer anymore - made sense when it was a launch window game.

This does sound less than we probably imagined from precious comments, but if it has the full multiplayer experience then I think it'll be ok for those not that into racing games. And if they play a lot they may be encouraged to upgrade to the full game.

Misplaced expectations ... the studio said this:

Are you even reading that? Are you? Because I feel everybody that says "they never said that" is just skipping over the large amount of articles written a few months ago when it was announced.

How else am I supposed to interpret that?

They care enough to come in and bitch about the people disappointed. How is that any worse than us expressing our disappointment? These threads usually turn into a circlejerk of negativity anyway .. and I try to avoid them. I failed at that today.

Hey, if that's true I'll take back what I've said. But I don't think it is. Especially if the demo is a 'good majority' of the game making that original statement true it means the game won't have much content in general. I can't imagine 5 cars being 'just a few less' than the retail release.
No, they don't care about the downgrade of this PS+ version. Not that they don't care about people complaining. They care about people complaining because instead of this thread being about what we are getting, it's turned almost completely into people bitching that it's not enough.

If you gave that much of a shit about the delay and feel so betrayed then don't download the PS+ version or buy the full title.

Yes, but they're acting like entitled children if you ask me. Its free, just take whats given instead of playing the "but they said this x amount of time ago" game. Its not mild at all. Imagine the outrage if sony were to take the "demo" off of PS+ and instead replace with another indie.

I feel this stance is more unreasonable tbh. I mean, those things were said.

Which car game demo has ever had 5 tracks and 10 cars in the past?

Exactly. I saw the thread title and said, "Sounds good." Now I just see a massive amount of people complaining about it and calling it a demo. I have never played a demo with that many tracks OR cars. I prefer this over some of the choices in the past.

mrklaw

MrArseFace
That sounds like a demo to me.

A normal racing game demo would most likely be one track and one car, single player only. This is 5 tracks with multiple variations (just mirror? Or maybe like ridge racer?), and 10 cars. But more importantly the main structure of the game fully available to play through, including multiplayer.

It is clearly a full game, just reduced more than perhaps some had expected

ITT: NeoGAF members lose their mind when the realization hits them that Sony doesn't give a shit about them and they were fools to think Sony would give them a full AAA title for free (just without 5 cars and 2 tracks. they only said it would be a few!) because they love gamers and would do anything for us.

Without knowing how many cars and tracks are in the full game it's hard to say how stingy Sony are being. I think it will still be decent amount of content regardless though considering you have access to all features.

Yes, I'm sure the memes with "entitlement" and "peeple really think dat tho" posts were here to discuss what's in the demo. Most of the posts on these threads are just coming in to say "jeez guyz, calm down" when nobody is really throwing any tantrum or breakdown, just reiterating what the developer said, and what they are delivering.

Plus, if the "whole thread has devolved" it means that there is an issue. If it was simply one or two people expressing disappointment it would have been that. Just one or two people. It isn't though, and now we're having a fairly somewhat civil discussion about expectations and what is actually being delivered.

I feel this stance is more unreasonable tbh. I mean, those things were said.

Seriously, right? They said it. I feel the "take what's given to you" mentality for a service I pay for is on another level of acceptance.

This argument is as intellectually stimulating as "WELL WHY DON'T YOU JUST KILL YOURSELF THEN"

I'm not angered by the content in the PS+ version (or "lack thereof", depending on who you ask), but the people coming in trying to stifle any kind of conversation are as annoying as the people they bitch about. If all you can argue about this is "if you disagree with me then just leave the room", you're not really offering any kind of compelling point, are you?

Why are people complaining about getting Driveclub for 'free' on ps+?

Yes it's not the full game we already knew that, and yes it can been seen as an extended demo, at least it's not only free but does it not entitle you to Driveclub for a discount?

Id take that over something like the Metal Gear Solid demo...

That sounds like a smaller amount of content relative to the full game than what the PR implied, but then again, I didn't exactly hang on to those words and the final feature count doesn't seem to be confirmed yet.

Its pretty reasonable when we have people here defaulting to calling it a demo just because they werent given the full game. My experiences of demos were 1 track and 2-3 cars if lucky. Its not a demo, but its not the full game which im pretty sure was mentioned when the game was first announced.

for those asking whats the problem, read the OP. The content we are now getting and the content that was suggested that we were getting last year now differs.

11 months, no way! That's how long it took my apple tree to drop that especially delicious apple! I'm guessing my tree was working really hard to make that apple as tasty as possible. The gardeners came by every day taking care of my tree and there was even this Japanese businessman that stopped by occasionally to check on it. And guess what, I didn't have to pay any of their wages! I just payed for water, got my regular apples and awaited patiently while that tasty apple grew. It was smaller than I expected, but much better overall than the normal apples I was receiving every month. The Japanese man said if I really liked the apple, I could go into the store and buy a bigger one. I haven't decided whether I want the bigger apple, but I'm glad I got to taste it before making a decision.

I think they could also get away with giving AC4 out as the first full retail game. time will tell tho.

i've added this line to the op, assuming anyone that actually enters this thread bothers to read OPs

THE REASON PEOPLE ARE MOANING IS THE CONTENT WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD BE GETTING LAST YEAR AND THE CONTENT WE ARE NOW GETTING HAS CHANGED

To me, if you look at each post by the devs, you can see which were spoken and which were transcribed.

I don't know many people who say, aloud, 'cars/tracks'. As such, I've only really looked at the playstationinsider interview, seeing as its an actual interview most likely transposing his words verbatim.

The Club size reduction sucks the most, though. Half the amount of team members across both versions sucks.

speedy and keit4 killed it. They are masters of the craft

Do we have a breakdown to be really sure of why this is such a crime. Even at this point the game isn't even out yet so we have wording from last and this year. We're mincing words now.

Part of the problem and why some are looking to just paint this in a negative slant more than looking at the real facts and whole pie.

Boo-hoo. Things changed. It's their service, they could've dropped the content to 3 cars and 1 track if they absolutely wanted to. Fact is, the amount of content they announced today for the PS+ edition of the game is still phenomenal to say the least.

Almost everything I have heard about this reintroduction of Driveclub sounds worse than what was originally promised. What stings even more is you have to wait 11 months for less content and features.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

How do we know this is not a "slightly" paired down version of the final game?

Funny you mention that, my garden centre actually gives away apples, to everyone! Just to see if they want to buy the apple tree! How cool is that? No purchase necessary free apples. But now... That raises a question.... If you have to pay monthly for your sample apple tree, and my sample apples used to be free, maybe the garden centre would decide not to give away the free apples if they felt like these sample apple trees can be used in place of free complete trees with other fruits. That could be a concerning precedent.

I certainly don't think we should roll up to my garden centre, pitch forks in hand, it's not the end of the world, and I'm really happy with my orange tree, but honestly, it bothers me, they misrepresented their side of the deal, and even though my mostly barren tree might still be really nice, it's the lie that bothers me, not the fruit. In fact, part of me thinks they knew for a long time that my apple tree wasn't going to come when they promised, they just wanted to rope in other orange tree owners on the promise of free apple trees.
I think they could also get away with giving AC4 out as the first full retail game. time will tell tho.
I've always found that practice strange. Obviously it does work, BF4 did really well, as did AC4. Logically I'd think you'd never want to give away the previous game before the release of the next one, because I'd think people would have got their fill from the free game.

PS+ is free?
Driveclub is now called PS+?

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say you're paying for membership to the garden center, not the sample tree? Like BJs or Sams Club. You have to pay monthly to even enter the facility, and you still have to pay for any goods you want out of the facility. However, because you are a member, you recieve a discount. You may even get a free item once a month. In that scenario, why are you paying the fee? To gain access.

It's free if you're a Plus member but I don't think we're here to argue if that's worth it considering it absolutely is.

Even the final game or you mean the "subject to change" Plus version? Everything not only sounds intact but the game looks really good.

Some of you and your ridiculously high expectations of the plus version.

Looks awesome! I'll play the plus version for a week or two to get my fix and then buy the disc version when I can get it used for about $40-50.

Edit:
Actually, I take that back. I want Evo to get my money for this game, so I'll just upgrade to the full version. Hopefully for no more than $40.

Less than I would have imagined, I was thinking more in the lines of having most tracks and some cars. I was hoping for something more meaty, they should also offer it at a very good discount for PS+ members.

If you'd like to talk about the wording on this, can you start a new thread? It's getting a little tiring to see it explained to each genius individually. Thanks.

We have a PS Plus thread as well as many threads asking or talking about it. I think GAF of all places knows what Plus is but if going by this thread is one thing then I suppose not.

thats a quote from Jamie Brayshaw on Aug 20, 2013.

this quote was from before then http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/drive...ion_has_less_content_than_retail_version.html as was the Q and A http://playstationer.net/2013/07/05/driveclub-q-and-a/

while the neogaf post by Rusky was afterwards http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=79403849&postcount=1714 and he is the Game Director on DRIVECLUB @ Evolution Studios so his word would also carry more weight.

that's 3 seperate areas of quotes conflicting with 1

the version we are getting has 1 country the game has at least 5. 1 country out of 5 is not what i'd call "slightly" less
