Halo 4 |OT2| TURBO

And and networking and hiring people you know isn't a bad thing. Grades at a college don't mean as much as someone who has worked somewhere, be it an internship or full position.

If I was hiring someone I would want to hire someone I know will do good based on their performance already, rather than someone who looks good on paper.

A Halo fan since you were 3?
I know it sounds weird, but when my dad bought an Xbox and got to the Halo level, I loved just roaming around the beginning part and jumping off the ledge. Had him kill any Covenant, since I couldn't use the Duke right. I loved the look of the game, plus the opening Cinematic was cool too.

Didn't start playing the game until I was 6.

lol just wondering!
I think I actually played against him back in the day when I was only like 12 or 13.

He was good, but not THAT good (without considering his age of course).

lol Yeah I know, I was just messing around. Funny because he came up in a convo I had with a friend the other day.. I mentioned Lil Poison and he said how they used to play locally together all the time, and Lil Poison would DESTROY all the local players who were like 10 years older than him hahah. A lot of great players were all over NY, ranging from upstate to East Long Island; great frikkin times. Stories for agessss.

Halo CE was a game where you thought you were nasty because you beat all your friends, but the moment you played online you realized the game had so much depth. dat meta game

Top 5 Reach Playlists:
Classic Playlist (the first one with all Forge World remakes -- the settings felt great with the TU on those maps)
Anniversary (People forget that Reach TOOK AWAY Power-ups, but this playlist brought them back (huge issue people never mention when saying Reach > H4, so either they don't give a damn about Power-ups or those rose-tinted glasses at work))
Invasion (Elites >)
A game of chess against a 2 year old.
The rest of Reach's playlists.
I see. I really enjoyed the anniversary settings and felt it was one of Reachs better points.

Brb grabbing popcorn for some classic HaloGAF drama plzzzzZzzZZzz.

I met him back right after he became a 'thing' and he was a good kid, his dad was a bit weird though -- hyper critical about his son's future pro-gaming career, akin to those baseball moms. Kind of felt bad for him.

BlueBlur has no connection to the website. I have no connection to the twitter account. Neither of us is a GAF mod.

Separation of powers.

If anyone is curious, I created the Twitter account a long time ago in 2008. Back then Dani and I were manning it and whenever anyone asked to be a part of it we gave them the password. Tashi was running it last but since he got hired I assumed control of it again. No one's asked or seemed interested which is why I'm the only one running it now.

Do you have the same opinion about this guy who has no schooling, but has a love for the industry? 2,000+ hours working on a single mod seems like hard work to me.

Education isn't the be all and end all. The mod guy put so much time and effort into one hell of an interactive CV. Such a unique and interesting case, really made him stand out and get noticed. No networking, no bullshit, just the dude's hard work and effort.

If anything, that's dude's story is quite inspirational.

While I'm here and giving no shits, I'm gonna crash on Fyrewulff's floor, make a map of camo routes across Valhalla, create click-bait article titles for my community of mlg tryhards, get angry at any sight of HGS, complain about the thread, pretend I'm some kind of musician, fight some bees wasps, shit on any Halo game that doesn't have Combat Evolved in its name, get the thread closed because someone got my gender wrong, and post about exploding "Theon Dong" branded hot dogs. PEACE

College degrees help.
Experience is king
and knowing people is incredibly powerful.
Well I still do have a network of people I know thanks to E3. Half are 343 the others are Certain Affinity and DICE.

When I start college back up this August I'm also starting development on my game with 12 friends so if things all go good II'll either have a game on my resume or a little indie studio :D

*the game is that thrust/dash based arena shooter I was going on about a few days back.

Agreed. I can see where you are coming from with the "networking" thing, but aren't those people usually hired into entry level positions at the studios? They have to work pretty hard too to get up into higher positions. Those who do go to college do still get their jobs, and it is usually in a higher position.

Certain Affinity seems like a really fun place to work, based on their twitter. Seem like a really great group of people. I'm definitely interested in getting into game development, and I always look through their job postings wishing I had some experience.

From the ones I talked to, they are an amazing bunch of people, hope they put out more of their own games soon.

Amazing that we'll get a Halo 5 beta code along with our purchase of H2A.

I think you meant to say RIP Halo 3 Beta Carbine.

Hey, if you had a kid who was talented enough to help you buy a house, you would use them too! :B

Wooosh. More juniors than usual

Welcome!
Dun post in this thread 80 times in one day and I'll probably like you.
...

Played a game of Halo 4 earlier. Came across a guy camo sniping on Valhalla and just quit. I've reached the point where this game is only fun in parties gah. But the price cut on the Xbone means I'll probably pick on up soon. Pretty sure it's $50 cheaper than the PS4 and comes with a game now here in Australia. So I might as well

Networking and experience are so much more important than school.

None of my clients give a shit about my college grades/degree. Which is good because I did terrible in school!

I saw some posters one of my clients does was for halo 4, was pretty excite.

Only reason I've never been a fan of networking is because it's not what you're taught growing up. All you'd hear from parents and teachers was college, college, college, not a thing about networking, at least in my experience.

You still have to put in the work, but then you have to meet the right people. They didn't put much emphasis on networking for me either. Too bad really.

So, has there been any news on any Halo? The bone price drop really sparked an interest in me, I might pick one up.
