Kinda funny. I was feeling rather burned out the other day so I just... took the weekend off from playing any XIV *at all*. Feel much better coming back to it today and I also have a ton of rested xp for my BLM to level with now

correct. SMN missing that amount of INT is more detrimental than SCH. Also SCH best heal is lustrate which is just a flat heal (25% of target hp) so this isn't affect by MND.
Have any desynth items I can have?

Well you have to play archer to get bard anyway. I love playing bard, but just remember, you will be the most common class I think.
I don't have any crafting classes leveled, which I think is required to desynth.
Otherwise, you could have 'em.

Ninja looks really fun to play...I also hope it's not so easy to play.
I didn't take time doing them at the time, and kind of regret it now that there is glamour, so I'm actually pretty happy about it. ( I guess some ps4 players are too )

I like the stealth it has and hope it doesn't work like the gatherer stealth, where other players can see you still. Just party members.
Was thinking the same. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I don't know what drama most of the thread is talking about assuming it stays within the neogaf FC.
Figure we'd be talking about hunt drama, but I don't know.

I'm glad that they are looking into a lot of the issues with the latest patch and still seeking to make improvements. Ninja looks fabulous. I hope it's so overwhelmingly complicated that everyone just gives up. There are going to be too many ninjas running around on patch day.
I wonder how they will make the PVP armor comparable or better to similar iLVL gear, so as to make it worthwhile to use in PVP. The best approach might be to add ability augmentations (which are only active in PVP) on top of comparable stats. If balanced properly, it shouldn't give people too much of an advantage or at least not any more than those that are currently higher ranked in PVP and can invest more points into PVP skills.
I think unlocking glamors in Frontlines will work better since you know what class everyone actually is instead of just a 'Fresh Meat' tag or whatever.
A shame about no new events to celebrate the one year anniversary. They still haven't given out the Yukatas from the 1.0 event though, so we might see something to facilitate that in the near future.

I am starting this game today, want to play a summoner or whatever the pet class in this game is. Does anyone have any advice for a new player or guides I should check out?

This is super general and meant for beginners but:
How to build a SMN:
Level THM for Swiftcast
Level Archer for Raging Strikes
Dump all points into INT
How to DPS:
Put up DOTS
Spam Ruin
Miscellaneous:
Manually control your pet for maximum DPS (don't worry about this until later levels)
Mind your pet in dungeons (don't use Topaz carbuncle or Titan Egi in dungeons unless your tank is absolutely aweful)
Mind your pet aggro in dungeons (don't let them roam freely aggoing everything)
Don't bother re-applying DOTS if an enemy is close to death, just spam Ruin

I didn't even know that drgs took increased magic damage. That never really affected the # of deaths I had I guess.

Thanks for the advice, as far as manually controlling a pet goes: I am currently playing on ps4 with a controller and keyboard for chat. Will this limit my ability to control another creature?

My general boss rotation as a Summoner for late game dungeons:
Garuda on Obey ->Aetherflow -> Raging Strikes -> Bio II -> Miasma -> Bio -> If in range Miasma II -> Contagion -> Shadow Flare -> Fester -> Spur - > Virus -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Fester -> Reapply Dots -> Rouse -> Enkindle -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Reapply Shadow Flare ->Fester -> Aetherflow -> Ruin -> Ruin -> Virus (if available and debuff has fallen off boss) -> Rinse/Repeat
For just groups of enemies. Start with the most hardy:
Bio II -> Miasma -> Bio -> Miasma 2 -> Contagion -> Bane -> Shadow Flare -> Spur or Rouse -> Ruru's AoE -> Ruin until all or dead, or if monsters till have lots of HP reapply the DoTs. You can throw some festers in there, but depending on the enemies, use AF for banes

Why are there sometimes high average wait times (i've seen 30mins and sometimes higher) for frontlines when the instance supposedly adapts to accomodate less players on each side? (or is supposed to anyway)
Also, if you're in a party (in this case, a 2 person party), you can't click "join a party in progress" for it either. Even though it's very common for the instance to require more than 2 people to make up alliances.

Frontlines seems pretty popular and I have never been in a match with less than 72 players. It could be that the servers that run Frontlines are at capacity. This would extend the queue until some of the matches have finished and the servers have freed up some resources.
For shits and giggles, maybe. I rarely pull out Ifrit anymore. Only Titan and Ruru.

Well for what its worth, the FATE events themselves are pretty awesome and they provide awesome looking weapons. So it's not too bad.
I just wish the Lightning hairstyle was better looking. It looks so out of place on player characters and I want to scream at people using it.
Needs less Snow and more Sazh/Hope for hairstyles.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I love shadowplay on PC. You just have to remember to hit Alt + F10 after whatever it is you've done, and the video is there.
For sure. At the very least they should add something new to the Lightning event if they're gonna bring it back.

There's still a lot of RNG in the Hunts. Some people get 5 logs a day, others get none. It's at least as bad as Atma farming in terms of log RNG, except you do build up seals so you get an eventually guaranteed reward unlike Atmas where it's all or nothing.
I doubt making it OP for pvp is the way to go.
