Speaking of, any word on whether Atma drops were going to be greased anytime soon? That'd give me a more solid reason to run dungeuns again at least.

Hunts are fun in moderation, but I want to do more then that and CT2 all day. Especially since I'm essentially forced to run as a DRG for CT2. Darn CT2 tank queues. :p

So S hunts should start popping again, if they have not already. Ultros GAF please keep track of spawn times since I'm still at work!

EDIT: WolvenOne, why not just queue up as DRG in progress? o_O

I really hope they don't put a cap on Allied Seals, it would be such a backward decision and completely suck out my enjoyment of Hunts.

All they have to do is remove the stupid lockout from Coil 2, there is no reason for it to exist now more than ever.

Or have Sands drop from every turn in Second Coil instead of the latter two. Or put Sands into Syrcus Tower sooner rather than later (they're planning to do it eventually).

There's several things they could do to help balance out the crappy disproportion.

It wouldn't surprise me if they landed on that as the most reasonable solution to overhunting. I mean if you could only grab X number of seals a week at patch launch, we would have had less hysteria... It'd cause the forums to riot though, I'm sure. Would be fun to watch.

That won't accomplish anything. I know of some people who have collected 6+ sands from hunts alone.

You still need to have Soldiery to get the armor and the weapons. Which means people would have to take time out of hunting to run dungeons. This alone would reduce the number of people participating in Hunts in any given time.

Would it be enough to make it less zergy? I don't know, but it'd likely be a step in the right direction at least.

The system works exactly like before, how would that suck out the enjoyment of hunts? Only because you can't do it 24/7?

It would make it, way less stressful for most people and with much less drama and pull shouts, pointer fingers and all the awful things that came with hunts. At least partially.

I've been meaning to give Summoner a try.

The only thing holding me back is how the summons look compared to the ones I've seen in videos of FFXI.

They look severely downgraded.

So I was able to fix my launcher by clean installing my computer.

Now I'm level 44 and going to hit 45 once I do a duty roulette.

Because while occasionally going as a DPS is fun, I still prefer doing things on my main class. Besides, I've seen a looooot of bad tanks in CT2.

"Tank in the center, THE CENTER! You're forcing the melee DPS to stand in an AOE when you tank it there! For the love of pete!"

Except most of the people doing hunts now are already in full soldiery gear. Now they're just getting sands for alts, since the new things is to run Coil 2 on your main account as well as an alt account.

You can do expert roulette one time each day and cap before the end of the week.

Woah, ppl not doing hunts for 40 min each day, surely will fix the zerg.

Cap is the only solution for now.

Putting a cap on seals wouldn't magically change human nature. It's just another band-aid fix on the fundamental problem, which is that western MMO players are assholes. And I don't know how anyone can fix that.

I agree with just removing the lockout on Coil 2, I would greatly prefer to have the option to farm Coil 2 instead of only chasing Hunts, because with the possible exception of SCH all jobs require a mix of Sol and High Allagan gear to have BiS.

They should also put Sands in ST and remove the weekly loot lockout on ST.

The solution isn't to add caps where there weren't any before. Instead, it's to remove the caps on Coil 2 and ST so people can do those all the time if they want to instead of being funneled into Hunts.

How can you even be a BAD tank on CT2?

I mean unless you are MT, you have even less job to do than in CT1..."Oh...an add spawn, yay finally I can do something after 10 minutes of fight!"

I didn't think SE could make tanking even more boring in CT2, but they did it....

This might be hard to balance. Once everyone reaches the cap and stops hunting, others might struggle to take down the marks due to the increased HP. If they nerf the HP again, we will be right back where we started, every single reset.

Cap is the only solution for now.

Considering that many casual players are involved in the Hunts, and that many casual players only put a few hours a day into the game, reducing the amount of time they can hunt by 30 minutes could actually have a noticeable affect on Hunts.

Again, alone removing the Soldiery award might not be enough, but it'd likely be a step in the right direction at least, and would help with the slow queue times many players are experiencing.

I stopped tanking CT2 ages ago.
No matter what there is always an idiot tank. Doesn't matter that they reduced it from 6 to 3. Two other people is enough to make you pull your hair out.
Whether it's claim battle (I'll just keep sword oath an. oh you died, guess I'll shield oa-no you provoked it back with 1000 health and died again okay!)

Pulling the clockworks away from their position or just generally being shitty, it's always bad in CT when you tank.

How can you even be a BAD tank on CT2?

People find a way.

I just BRD and throw some arrows at stuff now.

Clockwork Knight coordination is always, always the most terrible part of CT2. I've wiped many times due to stupid tanks.

It's the best and fastest way to fix hunts before the rework the system. Most ppl agrees than in more paceful hours, when there isn't that much ppl online, hunts become more enjoyable.

Think that the less ppl hunting, the less number of assholes...less ppl means guys aren't feel preasured to pull sooner because "oh my god, too much guys and I won't be able to see the hunt!" and other reasons, etc...

At ilvl105, other tanks can't pull hate away from me easily. Oh, it's doable, but a lot of Tanks running CT2 are considerably less geared, and if they're good enough players that they can pull hate away from me despite that, they probably deserve to Tank.

Anyhow, if there's one known good tank, that's a 1/3rd lower probability that LolTanks will be screwing things up. You're right though, one bad Tank can do it.

If they say... block any rewards once you reach max seals, then that would be best. The only problem I forsee with capping seals is that the bloody log books would still drop. If they capped seals but allowed books to drop anyway then nothing would change.

Gonna be in coil, will miss all the S's again.

Lately I've just been logging in for an hour on weekday mornings and grinding out about 100 seals on average each morning so I guess I'll just keep that up. Would be nice if a Bloody log book would drop for me (it's aptly named).

So how tough is T5?

Just got my SCH to 85 and I'd like to give it a whirl but these vids I'm watching make it look pretty intense...

Keep it up! That will amount to almost one Sands of Time per week.

All this speculation of a complete system rework for the hunts when all they've mentioned is adjusting the rewards from daily bills and looking into ways of addressing elite marks being killed too quickly without simply increasing the HP of the marks.

They are usually more apologetic when they sense outrage from the community, and I don't sense an apologetic tone in today's live letter.

Considerably easier now, but there are one shot mechanics still in play that can completely obliterate you regardless of how geared you are. For the most part if you breezed through T1-4 then it'll probably be the first reach challenge you've come upon. T5 is pure execution, if you beef it somewhere in certain phases then it's game over pretty quick. Definitely a lot of fun though learning, I recall a lot of screaming during team chat when we first learned.

The snakes phase is honestly the hardest (because you have divebombs to contend with and have to finish off the adds before Twintania rages). If you can make it through that, you should be able to clear it.

There's nothing to apologize for, the Hunts have problems but most players are happy to have something to do after they have gotten their weekly ST item and did their weekly Coil runs. Plus you actually get to SEE other players in open-world, non-instanced content, that's what puts the Massively in Massively Multiplayer Online Game. I'm glad they added real open-world content, otherwise the world is just a glorified lobby for instances like PSO or Diablo.

Because of Hunts, I have nearly capped out my Friends list at 200 people. I've met a lot of people while hunting.

Aye! I think more people just need to learn that it is okay to not get credit on everything that pops on the server, and learn when it is worth the effort of traveling to a pop.

Most of the fun I have is from the actual hunting (scouting different areas, and making quick judgments whether I should move out if another person reports a hunt monster or continue to scout the zone I am in). Killing the monsters with minimal mechanics: zzzzzzz.

With echo, everything but the mechanics is a cakewalk.

Mechanics in DF are a killer; people will refuse to run conflags under Twin or run fireballs to the right spot. Those are recoverable now. They will also fall apart trying to dodge Divebombs, and send Twin barreling into the group. That is less recoverable. I assume they also all die to Twisters, but I'd have to find a group that made it that far first.

If they are making adjustments to what people can get they aren't going to announce it early. If they did, people would just rush to get what they could. It's the same reason new crafting recipes are never revealed in advance.

Crafting recipes are different because they have a larger effect on the economy.

I stalk a few people. A few people stalk me. It's a stalk circle! I occasionally communicate with other hunters out there, especially when we notice we are following each other.

Flames why you so bad at PVP

Individually we're brilliant tacticians!
It's only when we're in a group that we become blithering idiots sprawled across the battleground waiting to be picked off because everyone refused to follow a single plan of action.

With Frontlines, all three GCs can be terrible. You can usually tell when there is a small coordinated pre-made in your instance, as they are often the winners. More people need to read the Art of War! Do not engage when you are outnumbered. Do not need to devote more bodies to an area where you severely outnumber the opponent.

frontlines in of itself is average/slightly bad but coupled with trying to coordinate with 24 other people and everybody loses their mind. Still the best way to level when at higher ranks and like mupod said it seems like it's brought new people in arena which helps me out lol.

Rush to get what? Isn't the argument that everyones already rushing to get said items?

Finding an A before anyone else is a thrill, the game world may not be immense but its still big enough that finding a mark in such a large area still feels like an accomplishment.

And of course, feeling accomplished is one of the big draws of an MMO.

Nope, honestly I've only tanked CT2 once, and it went reasonably well, save for the last boss. I didn't understand the whole levitation mechanic very well.

Other tanks however, are often in the habit of Tanking bosses wherever they pick them up, which is very frustrating. When fighting Scylla this is especially frustrating, as the area near the center is frequently the only safe place to stand when AOE is going off.

Well after much deliberation ive decided to buy FFXIV! I've never played an MMO before, hopefully I can meet up with some GAFfers who will guide a noob along his journey. I Wont be able to play until tonight hopefully there are some nightowls who play this game

The best part about hunts is when you find one solo, tell someone who then proceeds to tell everyone, and then they rush in and pull before you can even get in a party.

GAF FC is so awesome.

I stay away from it because I figure you need lv 110 eq or something to compete, and my eq is only lvl 50 right now.
