The Last of Us: Remastered |OT| Game of the Years

If this is in the wild then why isn't there any footage?

Also, does anyone know if the Day One edition has that shitty DAY ONE EDITION text on the front of the cover? I might ask for a standard one when I pick mine up if so.

We are assuming the wurst

Huh? There is no day 1 edition for TLOU remastered.

Which is nice, because the day 1 edition of the game I am anticipating the most sucks compared to the normal cover. And I have to wait until stocks dry out so I can get the superior cover for it.

I really hope ban hammers are not dropped over the ass jokes.

If it does come to that, I don't know any of you.

This gif actually has me angry, lol. That lady is a piece of shit.

Hahah I can understand her reaction due to the excitement, but she should've come to her senses soon after and give the ball back to the child.

Maybe it did happen afterwards.. Or maybe not.

I don t understand the excitement over foul balls or home runs. The only one I've ever liked was when a guy caught a home run from the other team and threw it back. Granted I don't like baseball so that probably has something to do with it.

I'm 99.99% sure the cover is reversible though I'm not sure what the other side looks like.

There is some footage of muddy and compressed Youtube videos and couple of people did stream it, for high quality footage we need Sony to actualy start a thing called 'Marketing', up until than enjoy muddy sub HD footage.

When does that gamestop trade in deal go active? I was gonna wait for a price drop but all this hype has convinced me otherwise.

I think it's just the fact that while they're many foul balls, the odds that you can actually catch one are very slim. It's just part of the excitement when you go to baseball games I guess, and you never know how you're going to react when you're actually close/able to get one.

I expect that somebody already asked but I didn't find anything, so: What about Left Behind, is it "fully remastered" as well?

And second question: Are you guys going to start with the main story or the add on? (I finished the main game twice but never played Left Behind) I don't know with which one I should start...

Ouch this is such a mood killer when it happens but ND really had no choise on this one :/

Hopefully next gen will bring the much needed AI improvements, we have not made any progress in this field for years.

Makes the AI in The Bureau look intelligent.

There are tons of games with good-great AI.

I understand if the ally NPC does something stupid..but at least have the enemy AI react to it.

If two games are possible at the same time, I'll play Left Behind right at the moment in the full game where
Joel gets injured and you start playing as Ellie.
Then when it's over, go back to the full game.
It'll be my second time playing the story and I feel that's the way it makes more sense.

Yeah. I remember when I first saw things like that in the pre release time of the PS3 version my hype dropped so much. The AI was what got me excited for TLOU in the first place. Ultimately what was promised in the e3 demo wasn't entirely there, but the moment to moment gameplay of TLOU is so good.

I honestly think uncharted does everything better than TLOU, but TLOU has better core gameplay. This is a personal preference because I like the characters and tone of uncharted more than TLOU. The puzzles (if you are generous to call them that in uncharted) are so much more interesting than the ladder and plank puzzles in TLOU. Also TLOU was heavier than I expected it to be in tone.

My excitement for the remaster is coming mostly from the MP rather than SP.

Starting to get a little tempted by this even though I have already played the original.

Never played Left Behind though and never touched the multiplayer.

Might jump back in on the PSQuadruple.

Not good companion AI that avoids detection and behaves intelligently. If games are not capable currently of it then it would be counter productive to have the enemy AI react and make it frustrating like that instance in the gif. The player did nothing wrong but would have still been penalized.

lol. happens in the ps3 too. if the enemies didn't ignore your buddies it would be one long escort mission though, and nobody likes those. the same thing happens in bioshock infinite with elizabeth.

Its significantly less noticeable in infinite. Considering TLOU has a heavy stealth focus, this stuff always looks ridiculous.

that opening though ;_;

game looks amazing

I always wondered why they didn't set the friendly AI to hang back a little more and stay in cover, instead of being so insistent on being on your ass/in your immediate vicinity all of the time. Or they could have given us "wait here" & "follow me" commands.

This is exactly what I'll be doing also. Definitely makes the most sense to play it here, even on your first playthrough, imo.

Because thats annoying, and if that was the case your allies won't help you when shit kicks off.

^^ Great video about some of the decisions they made when it came to the AI for the Last of Us. Very interesting watch.

Yeah was about to post that link. It clearly was a design decision from ND to make the partner invisible to enemies.

"If the buddy could jump out of cover and give you away, you could see the YouTubers saying 'fuck you, Ellie.' At that point, we'd broken the relationship between Ellie and the player, and that's something we never wanted to do."

This is a really disappointing to see. I was really hoping that with the extra year of time they'd have fixed that stuff for the Remaster. :/

I would prefer not to be penalized because my buddy AI fucks up, it might break realism, but it keeps the enjoyment factor at the top.

The wait here and follow me commands would have been annoying in my opinion. Half the game would be you giving those commands and then what about the speed they move? Do they always go the same speed as you or what? And if you change from wait here to follow do they take the shortest route do they run or what?

People make mistakes in real life though. Many games have the companion AI get attacked if they step into the open.

It would be much more engaging if a child/companion screws up trying to hide and you have to suddenly shift your strategy in a game to compensate for that.

Yes, it would make sense to not penalize the player if it is a mission ending detection, but then you simply have the companion AI stay put until nearby enemy AI is handled. A simple "stay/hold" command addition that really works would fix this.

Like I said, it even makes The Bureau's AI look good. It sucked by the way if you haven't played it. You would give flank commands and your AI companions would run across an open floor instead of through a nearby door to get where they are going.

I've also played a lot of Tom Clancy games where companion AI was pretty smart (in comparison). Some much, much older.

No it wouldn't. ND's goal was to make you like Ellie. Remember the hype moment from E3 2012 when she threw a bottle at a guy and then Joel moved in and slammed his face into a desk? Wait/Stay would take those moments out of the game. Also, if she constantly messed up and screwed the player you'd end up with a character like Sarah and Ben from Walking Dead or Ashley from RE4.

Then again... I didn't like Ellie THAT much.
