I'm just going to update one of my games and test it myself then, too many people saying things based on what they feel or hope might be different.

If they don't start doing proper patch notes, this is going to get really annoying.

The fact that there are no detailed patch notes says to me that there are probably no changes worth noting. Would love to be wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was no patch notes because Sakurai is afraid that there are groups of people out there that would be put off by the technical details or something ridiculous like that.

Yeah, we need details, Nintendo.

Let us know if there's any actual changes.

Went jiggly in training on a JP 1.02 and a UK 1.03, held shield on both of them at the exact same time until it was almost broke, let go and waited 5 seconds for them to recharge a bit and then held shield again until it broke.

They both broke at the same time, there are no changes to shields.

Metaknights Fthrow was buffed, used to do 3%, now does 9%.
That's the only change I'm aware of.

had to try this before getting the patch. I've never noticed that his f-throw was so...weak o_O. Glad to see some actual changes to one character so far.

Edit: or not?

Metaknight's FThrow damage is character dependent which is why he probably thought it was buffed:

Character - 1.02 - 1.03

Samus - 3% - 3%
Bowser Jr. - 8% - 8%
Bowser - 9% - 9%

Seems to be a multihit throw and can hit larger characters more than once.

This is getting confusing, can they not just simply specify proper patch notes?

What exactly has changed in this patch?

I've no idea, I just tested Mario and all his moves seem exactly the same, I highly doubt it's any changes.

By "balance" he may have just meant the matchmaking algorithm was slightly changed or something, it could mean literally anything considering it's Sakurai we're dealing with, maybe the spawn chance of Daybreak was reduced by 1.5%.

We'll probably never know until someone hacks it to find out which files were changed or they actually give us detailed information.

Well, I learned something new today. So we're back to no known balnace changes at all then.

Yeah, as far as we're currently aware there have been no balance changes whatsoever, or even fixes to bugs that are widely known by now.

Does anyone know how i can make songs like Area 6 or Ballad of the Goddesses play on a stage? There are all these songs i have unlocked that i can never seem to hear on the stage itself.

They are Smash Run only. Wait for the Wii U version if you want them on stages.

So they're doing balance patches now? v__v

I don't like the future.

If by balance changes you mean

- increased the damage of x item by 1%
- fixed a glitch that allowed players to get over 8 kills in cruel smash easily

and stuff like that

Still disappointing. Whatever glitch that is sounds fun, not like something that crashes the game.

But as long as characters themselves haven't changed at all I guess I can't be outraged yet. :)

Oh dear heck... I just fought a quick string of For Glory matches against someone called *Jaokim and I COULD NOT kill them to save myself. I'd get them up to 190% and still none of my hits seemed to carry them to blast zone. I don't know what the heck they're doing but it was annoying and while I'm known for surviving a lot, I don't think I can pull off the death avoidance he was capable of :/
He also spot-dodged EVERYTHING which meant I had to run up to him, shield in case it was one of those rare moments he didn't do it and then after the animation had finished finally grab/hit him. Felt like it really slowed the matches down :/

That all said, they were actually fairly good for the most part and did some decent reads on me. I'm still fuming but going over the replays to see what I could improve :p

edit: wait... if I'm reading right there's an upper limit to how much you can VI and when you hit it, you should switch to DI which is apparently still in the game? wat?

I faced some guy earlier as Duckhunt Dog and comboed him to 95% in about 10 seconds lol

He ended up just killing himself twice and ending the match.

I spent about a week playing Palutena exclusively and, after a bit of experimenting all around, I have moved onto Wii Fit Trainer.

It is kind of amazing how unpopular she is. I had thought Palutena was unpopular, but there are like 1/4 the posts for WFT compared to Palutena and I have found zero training videos for her on youtube.

I've yet to find a use for the breathing move but fuck it I'm gonna use it whenever possible just because.
From Smash Boards:

Deep Breathing is a stat booster all around. I thought it was just healing, damage, and knockback defense, but apparently she also gets heavier. I survived a bobomb while on the far end of Battlefield at kill percents using that and vectoring. These are also percents I could have died from the right side without any influence. So it's certainly not just for killing.

You will see WFT glow for a period of time after you use it. Basically you're meant to work this in whenever you can to maintain this buffed effect, which makes sense since the breathing circle is an ever-present element of the yoga exercises in Wii Fit.

I believe Sun Salutation has similar properties when fully charged. I believe there was a pic of the day about stacking these buffs but I can't find it.

Does anyone else have shard wisdom about Wii Fit Trainer to share?

Just letting you guys know, for those that care :p. I haven't been here much in awhile lately, I'm currently playing bayo 1 and then I'll play 2. Trying to beat them before smash wii u comes out, so it's taking a lot of my time. And after that wii u direct, I just can't look at the 3ds version the same xD. Looking forward to facing you all on wii u tho!

I'll have to search deep to find my old Wii LAN connector.

Looking forward to it though. My connection was so bad last night, I started really getting frustrated with the game. Played several good players, but wasn't able to really get into the matches because half the time the game was stuttering or just outright stopped.

I might end up moving into my own flat in an area with better internet solely for Smash WiiU.
Really don't think I'll be able to stream and play on this connection.

Man the new update still doesn't fix the problem I had before. Cannot for the life of me get rid of the yellow exclamation point icon thing on the main screen telling me about update 1.0.2

Thank goodness the Wii U is capable of updating games on its own. I suspect we won't get weird issues like that on Wii U.

Someone on smashboards seems to believe it's made certain multihit moves more reliable like ZSS and Fox's Up-Bs.

They say that it's "confirmed" but I can't say anything for or against it yet.

JoeInky

Member
Fox's Up-B is exactly the same in both versions, a light character in mid air can escape it just as easily.

It's either someone deluding themselves into believing something has changed or he just threw in a multi-hit move that came into mind without actually knowing if it had been changed.

That's a shame. WFT is a lot of fun from what I've played.

Also my 1.03 smash can create a local lobby and the 1.02 smash can join it without any desyncs happening, shouldn't this mean that there are no gameplay differences.

I doubt they'd bother making some system where the more updated versions revert back to earlier ones or something, I'd imagine they would just block out players if there were actual gameplay changes.

JoeInky can you compare Palutena?

Check if all of that is really different or placebo pls.

Sneak peak at the version 1.0.4 patch notes:

-We changed some stuff

Will test Palutena now.

E: Fuck me that's a lot of changes to Palutena lmao, now way that's real but I'll do it. Either it's wishful delusions or the Sakurai bias is out in full effect.
