Playing the Wii U release schedule game...

February
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

March
(Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Tipping Stars, eShop)
Mario Party 10

May
Splatoon

June
Yoshi's Wooly World

September
Mario Maker (coincide with original SMB's September release)
Xenoblade Chronicles X

October
StarFox Wii U

November
The Legend of Zelda Wii U

And now I'm starting to wonder if they'll fill that July-August gap with Devil's Third if they can get it localized in time and Nintendo has nothing unannounced coming down the pipeline.

It's not a bad year either way. Lots of tentpole releases. It's a bit heavy on fall, but that's how the video game industry works in general.

The worst part for me was probably the Wii VC, I have no need to buy games I already own again, and at most will probably only use the feature for the small handful of games that I never bought. Plus, I'm kinda disappointing to see SMG2 on there, as I was hoping for a SMGHD pack at some point. :/

All around like I said, it wasn't disappointing, just not all that interesting.

Well, It was the best part for me.

I skipped last generation so I haven't played these games, also they are somewhat hard to find new (nintendo products have banished from almost all stores) and the "buy used" market for wii is almost non existant.

I have a really hard time believing that Nintendo would release anything in either June or July. I mean I don't want to be that guy, but Zelda might see a delay.

Well that's fine, and I'll probably bite if they put up the OG Galaxy since my disc no longer loads the final boss, but I was wanting WWHD like remakes of some of those games not just ISO dumps.

So no new Wiiu release dates for Europe besides mario Party 10 and.....M&DK minis? And Splatoon in May. Terribly disappointed. At least Majora releases next month but I had hopes for a strong Q1/2 for wiiu.

Didn't bother staying up for Direct, can someone post a summary of what was shown (on all three editions)?

-new 3ds xl only new 3ds version in america. no adapter. monhun bundle at $230, majora's mask edition at $200
-fire emblem: if coming to 3ds
-codename steam comes with majora's mask pin with preorder. lucina, marth, and ike amiibos add fire emblem characters to that game
-mario party 10 introduces next line of amiibos. mario party 10 out in march
-splatoon out in may
-puzzles and dragons z and puzzles and dragons mario bros. is coming in may in one release
-xenoblade 3d out in april
-xenoblade chronicles x trailer. xcx out in april in japan
-wii virtual console announced. metroid prime trilogy, smg2, and punch out are the first games and half off in their first week. wii vc games can be played on gamepad if they had cc support
-mario vs dk is crossbuy/crossplay on wii u and 3ds
-new game from bandai namco for wii u called project treasure

Also new Rhythm Heaven 3DS for Japan, Summer 2015.

It's funny that people were complaining about the 3DS not getting enough games as of late in favor of the Wii U but when they do start to show new 3DS games, "OMG the Wii U is being ignored!!!"

Never mind the fact that the Wii U isn't being ignored and plenty of games are coming out this year but whatever.

I've found this funny as well. To be fair it's probably different people complaining about the two different systems getting ignored, but it just goes to show you can't please everyone.

I don't know why I watch these things. Every time I think 'Maybe there'll be something new or interesting from Nintendo that'll interest me' and every time I finish watching one I think 'Zelda only then'.

Good job the new Zelda is looking decent (off-screen)

I'm looking for a comparison gifs of Xenoblade Chronicles X trailers.

I think it was posted on this thread but can't find it.

Does anybody know where are the gifs?

I got no bingo but quite a few right still.

An enjoyable broadcast, though it would have been nice with some information about Mario Maker. Ah well, Nintendo's Third Quarter Earnings Release for FY 2014 is scheduled for January 28, with briefing the day after very likely, so perhaps some details will emerge from there.

Fire Emblem looked amazing, but no English VA and especially no subtitle yet makes me realize how far away it is, probably will get a trailer with a subtitle come E3, HYPED and unexpected! (That Fire Emblem crossover is so dead, and I'm okay with that)

Splatoon, just wow. Every single trailer shatters my expectations, that HUB WORLD, those STORES, how does Splatoon take such simple things and yet somehow amazes me with it all? It's the TWEWY vibes I'm telling you. TWEWY with squid girls because Nintendo.

Xenoblade Chronicles X!!! We finally get to see other places besides pseudo-Gaur Plain, and my oh my is it gorgeous, faces are still "okay" but the rest of the game looks awesome! Also jumping will actually be useful? YES!

I really don't want to buy a new!3DS, that MM one is tempting, but I already pre-ordered the Skull Kid figurine so I think I can live with having an amazing Skull Kid on my shelf instead of face-tracking 3D because I need to save money... because Lucina might make me jump on the Amiibo bandwagon, RIP wallet ;_;

Also I hope Xenoblade and The Last Story get on the "Wii VC", they are truly gems.

I missed the end of the direct, was there more Zelda Wii U footage?

Bleh, I was disappointed. Nice to see some release dates for games like MM3D and Splatoon, and I know I'll grab that Fire Emblem game when it releases, but the new 3DS stuff was really ridiculous and the entire Direct was basically downhill from the moment they announced the MM Hyrule Warriors DLC wouldn't be coming in January and wouldn't have a playable Skull Kid.

Not even any info on Smash Bros. outside of Amiibo support for the version that no one is playing. Sigh.

Now that the dust has settled a bit, here's my opinion on the whole ND.

Pros:
- XENOBLADE X NEW TRAILER!
Sorry, got carried away :p
. And we got a release date in Japan to confirm that it's basically almost done. Really hoping for a fast localization of this.
- Interesting new info about Splatoon, which is looking more awesome as days go by. And we got a tentative May release date.
- New Fire Emblem game. Really happy that FE got its well-deserved continuation. Remember that FE:A was supposed to be the last game.
- New amiibos! And Marth reprints!
- They are really promoting Codename: STEAM. I know it's not the hottest game out there, but I'm really glad that they're pushing their new IPs this time around.
- More expanded uses of amiibos. People have been asking for more amiibo usage, and hey they're really putting them in a lot of new games.
- Confirmation of release dates for a good number of games. MM3D, MH4U, Rainbow Curse, Mario Party 10 among others. A pretty good 1H 2015 as compared to last year's, especially on the Wii U front.
- New 3DS XL finally! And earlier than expected. I was looking for late March but I'm glad it's early February.
- Glad to see Bamco making a new game for Wii U, even if it's F2P. Now if they can localize their Taiko games...
- Wii game downloads is cool. I hope to see more under-appreciated titles hit the e-shop soon, and some 3rd parties come on board as well. S&P2 and Pandora's Tower is a nice start...
- Pretty good showing of 3rd party localized titles as well, though we really need more of those.
- The Hyrule Warriors DLC update is pretty good as well.

Cons:
- NO N3DS? ONLY XL? WTF NOA!?
I blame 'murica for being 2edgy and not liking cute things. :p
- No Star Fox Wii U trailer? There's E3 but, at least give us a sneak peak! Even if it's only a minute...
- Still no news about SMT x FE? Makes me wonder how much it will take this game to even see a gameplay trailer, now with Atlus and IS busy with their own projects.
- Lack of localization news. It's not basically Nintendo's fault, but I really want to see more of those Japanese titles hit the overseas shelves, like Yo-kai Watch.
- No Smash DLC news? Kinda expected but I really wished they'd show a trailer of Mewtwo in this Direct.
- No Devil's Third update. Just a little showing to refresh the buyers' memory like me to keep this game in the watch list, like what they are doing with Splatoon and Codename: STEAM.

Overall, it's a pretty great Direct. Really exceeded my expectations in terms of the content they've shown, especially the new Fire Emblem. They've shown some more in the Japanese Direct, like a new Rhythm Heaven game, and here's hoping a good number of them gets localized.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this Direct. North America not getting the smaller variation of the New 3DS came as a surprise, but what can you do? I had already been planning on getting the XL. Mario Part 10 looks a bit tame. I don't like that everyone still rides around in a car together. The amiibo functionality looks nice, but I wish the boards were a bit more inspired. On the topic of amiibo, the Super Mario series looks nice. I'll definitely be buying all of those.

Wii games in the eShop was a pleasant surprise. What was even more of a surprise was the price point. Now, I'm just waiting for the eShop to update with the new games.

Just finished watching!

Nintendo absolutely hit it out of the park. So many good titles coming, more Marth amiibos, Lucina, good looiking games, special edition new 3DSXLs? Amazing.

yeah bummer for those that want a smaller 3ds, but I'll take an XL any day of the week.

You're shitting me. No Skull Kid in DLC?! Why, seriously, why?! I've been beyond hyped to see his moveset.

EDIT: Oh! I see his silhouette on some pics. Sorry for the hasty overreaction!

DOUBLE EDIT: Probably a costume. Boo.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Two years and still no bingo.

StarFox really threw me off, I thought we were finally getting a trailer. BTW I think it's been a very 3DS focused direct this time around, especially considering the FE and RH megatons.

I knew we weren't getting any StarFox the moment they announced it would be at E3.

Where the hell was Yoshi's Wooly World? Very curious why we haven't been getting info on that game. It should be releasing in the first half of this year right?

I guess since this was a very 3DS heavy Direct they could still give a release date in a March Direct maybe?

Devil's Third and potentially Fatal Frame localization could help fill in July and August

So the New Fire game was announced for the 3ds were there any more new games for the 3ds? Is Nintendo going to have a 3ds direct or something I still think 2015 is alittle lacking for titles.

Pretty disappointed to see Skull Kid relegated to a costume in the HW dlc instead of being a full playable character. I also hoped to see a non-human link instead of

Most of the rest of the direct looked pretty good, but no charger in the n3dsxl and no non-xls are stingy-ass bizarre decisions.

Oh hey, apparently the C-stick will act like the CPP's stick? That's new news, isn't it?

Also, apparently the Majora's Mask edition is sold out on Gamestop, but that's ok because you can just get it in a local store, right?

LOL nope: They didn't earmark any copies for the stores. It's Pre-sold out already. Hopefully they fix that.

It also bodes really badly for the exclusive MonHun4U bundle, I need to get on that ASAP apparently.

No need to earmark copies if you can sell them all in advance, but yeah if these things keep selling out, perhaps make more?

Hopefully they do that, or people are going to be PISSED about that Majora's Mask n3DS. Although it's supposedly not a Gamestop exclusive, so... probably not as urgent as that MH4U Bundle.

I'd really rather not give Gamestop my cash, but it's exclusive, so... Damnit.

There's also Mario Kart 8 DLC in May.
It's a bit of a shame we probably know 90% of the games that will be released this year.
Same goes for PS4 and XBO.

Wait, is there only XL model of the New 3DS?? No non-XL model??

Nope, not only did NOA shaft us on the Ambassador New 3DS promo Europe got, Reggie decided to take it up a notch by completely excluding the standard size 3DS from the U.S. Because apparently Reggie now thinks that "white systems don't sell that well in America." Never mind the white DS Lite selling like gangbusters back in 2006. It's completely braindead reasoning. To me it's like the equivalent of a bizarro world scenario where Apple all of a sudden decided not to allow certain customers to buy smaller size IPads should they so choose. This is an all new low for NOA.

I don't see what the "XL Only??" controversy is about. When XL wasn't released to the west everyone was crying about not getting XL and when it came out everyone was getting it. Now all of a sudden everyone wants the non-XL one? You guys are really strange...

Well actually it's completely different than that because of... um... no. It's pretty much exactly that.

I have my doubts Xenoblade will be localized in time for September, but your list looks pretty sound. I can see a doubling-up in November, maybe Zelda and Devil's Third.

I don't think Nintendo expects much out of Devil's Third, and as excited as I am for it, I doubt it will land north of a 7 on metacritic (prove me wrong Itagaki).

The only things I was remotely interested in this Direct were the Fire Emblem announcement and the puzzle game duo pack, which I will buy. I will also get that Pokemon puzzle thing because eh, it's free. Why not? I'm more hype about the Girls Mode 3 announcement in JPN, tbh.

I have a Persona Q 3DSXL and no desire to buy a N3DSXL. I also don't give a fuck about Majora's Mask at all. So, 6/10 for me. Meh overall.

There is a very good chance that an Animal Crossing game releases for Wii U I'd say. Probably a Fall title if it does.
