VVV coverage of near final PS4 version of ProjectCARS

Actually he's not relaxing/flexing, it'S because he's getting to the threshold where the animation would normally go hand over hand. It's a bit weird how they did it in this game and I agree that it doesn't really make much sense for that particular car but yeah... it's "normal".

Ah, well that sort of makes sense. They should drop that part of the animation out for that car type then :).

I'd make a similar motion after a long driving session on straights. My hands always started cramping up, bleh. I only did it fur fun though. One of my closest friends raced for years, and I use to take my Corvette to the tracks.

For those that mentioned "god rays", after watching a few videos, it is definitely too exaggerated. I'd probably tweak it too on PC/Console if it's there.

Well done and agreed. Comparisons within genre are natural, but there seems to be a large misunderstanding of what each game is aiming for and what development/engine requirements each are afforded because of those end goals.

For those having issues with the "god rays" is it because you feel they are unrealistic? Or because they are too strong for your liking?

Good rule - though for some reason its damn near impossible when it comes to driving games.

I've been completely out of the loop.

As somone who has enjoyed most of the Gran Turismo series (outside of parts of 5 and 6), should I be excited about this?

-From a "car collecting" standpoint...probably not

-from a track racing perspective...yes...

- if you've always wanted more from the career mode of GT then ABSOLUTELY YES!

I love that helmet view, especially in a F1 car. I'll have to buy this just for that.

I am going to buy it anyways but that sealed the deal.

Looking at a car list, it certainly skews European, which I am less interested in. Didn't like this about Driveclub either.

But as someone who wanted a better career experience out of GT I may be able to overlook that.

are the ffb settings identical to pc too? if so would it be fair to say that a t300 on ps4 and a t300 on pc with exact same ffb settings in game will feel identical through the wheel? or does pc somehow have the edge?

FFB control signals created by the engine should be the same, and wheel on both platforms requires cord to the power outlet [so the strength should also be the same]. Theoretically, Sony could enforce some upper limit for FFB strength, but I never heard anything like that happening before.

it would be great if the new f1 game has the view, i love it. Will be crazy racing an f1 car in helmet cam with no HUD.

Im getting more excited for this game than forza 6.

Everytime a person compares Project Cars to Driveclub an angel loses his wings. Seriously. this has to stop. It's just shitting up threads everywhere. It worries me that the general public might have to same beliefs and make a huge confusion about what this game is and isn't.

Project Cars can be compared to: Assetto Corsa; Game Stock Car; Raceroom; iRacing; rFactor

Project Cars cannot be compared to: Mario Kart; Driveclub; Need For Speed, Dirt; Grid; The Crew or any other arcade based game.

They are two completely different things and in other genres people usually don't make this mistake. I've never seen anyone compare Fifa Street to Pro Evolution Soccer or NBA Jam to NBA 2K, but yet in racing games it's like they are all the same.

The only thing that Driveclub and Project Cars have in common is that they both use cars. That's it.

Somebody at Sony needs to get non FFB Logitech support sorted, ffs. What have SMS said about this?

Does the game support motion controls so I can at least use my ghetto setup?

Wow, this looks like everything I could ever want in a racing game. I will have to buy this. The only question is which console I should pick it up on.

New video!

Very nice. Having just (finally) bought a PS4, I think I'll have to pick this and DC up in the coming weeks.

Also, Morpheus Karussel? Ohboy.gif

What is that blur effect that's constantly on the screen, it's a bit much. The static crowds do stick out as a sore thumb though. Other than that, it looks quite decent, IQ(AA) is nice, first thing that got my attention.

The blur - DoF - can be disabled if you don't like it. A lot of the visual effects are tweakable, even on console.

I know sacrifices were made regarding content and fps but I've got used to the replays in DC that look like real life compared to this.

Need the real life circuits, buying it barring shockingly poor performance issues.

Each to their own but I hate the replays in DC, camera angles etc are horrid. PCars replays are like watching racing on TV. This the only recent racing game I can remember where I have actually sat and watched my replays.

They have the 24 hrs Le Mans race so there's gotta be night racing.

There is. My comment was more wondering (with faux concern, and tongue firmly in cheek) why no night racing of the new PS4 build was shown. Alan has confirmed that he'll release some soon.

Ignoring the usual controller and friends issues, all footage points to the PS4 version being the better performing one.

I've got both consoles, and I've preordered it on PS4

But xb1 version has impulse (rumble) triggers which is for me must have feature if you are using gamepad. Graphics not so much.
I hope PC version will support them too.

Yes, the impluse triggers are a great feature, but to me, a steady and high frame rate is the key thing in a sim racing game.

From my experience the rumble triggers really don't add much to the experience. Certainly not enough to choose it over a steadier framerate and a higher res. But each to their own.

Does pCARS actually support the rumble triggers?

Yes.

Console exclusive features are:

Does the game use the Xbox One's impulse triggers?
Yes! Great for feeling the rumble strips underneath your wheels ;-)

Does the game use the DUALSHOCK®4 controller in any cool way?
You'll hear Ben Collins, former Top Gear Stig, talking directly to you through the integrated speaker :)
