Confirmed: Transformers Devastation is made by PlatinumGames

I wonder if the lack if PC version is due to the retail source at the moment.

Case in point, I can't find a retail version for Fall of Cybertron.

Read the title and responded with a meh.

Opened the thread and seen that it was the Transformers I know and love -- the ones I grew up on.

...that in itself is pretty awesome.

Japanese Beast Wars series that has little to do with Beast Wars and introduced some of the most fucked-up Transformers ever.

Presenting Heinrad, the first Transformer to ever have exposed testicles.

G1 transformers game made by Platinum... Day 1!

Between this and that Toy Soldiers game getting He Man and GI Joe, I'm going to be revisiting my childhood this fall.

You guys do know that a $60 retail release is going to have a bigger budget than a $15 downloadable game, right? Like, Activision still won't give them a huuuuuge budget but it'll be significantly more than Korra's.

Looking forward to the one-on-one boss fight between Optimus Prime and Megatron at the end of the game.

SPOILERS: The fight will be an unwinnable one where you have to die to Megatron so Hasbro can sell you new toys.

All you complainers have no idea how big this is for G1 Transformers fans. Just be happy for us. We've NEVER had a Transformers game with our favorite versions of these characters come to North America.

I was going to say this exact thing. I can't believe this game has been made!

Disappointing to see Platinum doing another licensed game, but this is a retail release and a Transformers title with cell shaded graphics using G1 designs! I adore Platinum so I guess I'm in, I just hope Activision doesn't screw this up. It will be the first game published by them that I've bought in 10 years (the last one being GUN for PS2).

If this is full budget, then Platinum + Transformers is actually a pretty perfect fit, and this could be incredible. I'm not the biggest Transformers fan, so this was kind of a let down at first. I also thought Korra was a big let down and thought this could be similar. And yeah, I still wish this was a different project. But the more I think about this, the more I think this could be amazing. Also for Transformer fans, this could be a dream come true.

Word. I can't wait to see some gameplay; especially gameplay for Grimlock.

Why do few people here not see the awesomeness in punching Devestator in the face?

I grew up with Beast Wars and the Japanese series (RiD, Unicorn Trilogy, etc), but I still think the game looks awesome visually. Let's get something clear, though. G1 transformers never looked at all close the this game. The robot designs are clearly G1 based, but they've still been tweaked, updated and thrown into a cell shaded art style. This is what G1 looked liked.

The show looked cheap and kind of awful. Characters were off-model half the time and they couldn't even keep relative size or colors consistent. This game is what the show looked liked through nostalgia glasses, but the original is hard to watch for how badly animated it is. I still love it, though.
Man, you took one of the better examples too, a picture from the movie.

But yeah, it looks more like what I glimpsed of the comics, and objectively it's way better to play a game that looks like THAT than something that's truly faithful to the cartoons. That, on the other hand, could've been morbidly fascinating to recreate accurately.

It seems odd that they wouldn't do a PC release. Do we know how well PC Korra sold compared to the console versions? Can't imagine it was so bad that they wouldn't do the same arrangement this time around.

I'm excited for this. I wonder if they can get the same voice actors for those other than Optimus (I'm assuming they'll get Peter Cullen).

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.

It's fucking Activision they don't care about PC or they would have put Destiny on there.

What the hell no Rising 2? Cmon Platinum life can't be that rough your picking up scraps for work.
Bah Ill check it out but I was hoping for something meatier. Perfect cover though since Prime can take out both without any help.

As a lover of both Transformers and Platinum Games it's extremely disappointing they aren't bringing it to PC. Oh well, guess I'll put my hopes on MGR2 coming to PC.

It is baffling to me how much negativity there is in this thread. Game looks fantastic and I don't even care about transformers. Shame I don't have a console to run it.

Yes. Welker is in too. The voice for BB as well. (from the OP)

Having the OG voices is another big selling point for me.

Knee jerk reaction.

My first thought was to be let down because I'm not a transformers fan, and I wanted a different Platinum project. I also thought it was going to be like Korra, a small budget license game which was rushed out and was a let down.

But after reflecting on it, I think posters (like myself) will realize this could be amazing. And Platinum + Transformers is actually a great fit. And this could be HUGE for Transformers fans. Not everything is about what you want. I get being disappointed this isn't the project you hoped for. I still want something else. But I can be happy for others and see the positives and how this could be a great project that is very successful.

bad: After the tease several months back, MGR2 was most likely canned within the Konami fallout recently.

bad>good (although admittedly, that has less to do with the transformers game itself)

Konami killed their high-profile and expensive in-house Metal Gear developer to re-focus on mobile, so OF COURSE they were going to hire a third-party developer to a make a high profile and expensive Metal Gear game. It makes perfect sense!

lol.

Pretty much. MGR2 was dead the moment Kojima left.

Yes. Unless for some reason the price listing is absurdly incorrect, I'm on board for this after reflecting on it. As long as it's a full Platinum game with all their polish, and not a side project, I'll be excited.

Now to wonder if this is PS4 exclusive and if I'll have to buy a PS4.

Like I said in the other thread about this game earlier today, it looks spectacular so far. The art style is spot on, and the fact that they're utilizing many of the original voice actors from the cartoon puts this over the top. I'm already looking forward to finding out more about this game. I hope they're showing it off at E3, as I'd love to see some videos of the game in action.

Yea...still not this game's fault. At least hate it if not for having the greatest Autobot of all Rodimus Prime.

This HAS to be in the game. Last boss fight music.

Hype would be unreal. I already freaked out (in the best fucking way) when the song played in Shadow Warrior

Edit: Does Activision still hold the Spidey license? Could..a.. Platinum Games Spiderman game actually happen?
