It's pretty 60fps smooth everywhere with high settings and some extra highs. Don't mind the temperature, it's AMD gpu and I haven't cleaned it for months.
I might lower the shadow to low later for experiment as apparently low shadow is the best shadow.

Nah, it is extra high :D

That is some respectable performance from that Phenom.

So I don't know if it's just me but I seem to have hit a little bit of a snag. I've been having a lot of fun with the custom soundtrack feature but having just checked my listing after adding some more, the game seems to have a limit on how many tracks it will allow you to have on here. I think it will read up to 100 files.

Is this fixable or editable? Or is it just me who has this issue?

Game's great!

But I am having the same issue that I had with GZ where every once in a while it will pick a direction and get stuck moving that way and I have to do a mad shuffle to fix it. Anyone have a workaround?

Well, just encountered a bizarre problem with Steam that I haven't had in the nearly 11 years I've been a user. I downloaded and played MGS5 last night no problems, and the game ran wonderfully too. I get home a couple hours earlier than usual from work which never happens expecting to play MGS5. Don't ever expect anything. I logged into Steam, went to my library, and scrolled down to where Metal Gear Solid V should be. It's not there. It's still on my hard drive, but Steam isn't finding it even though it's in the same directory as pretty much every other game.

I show all my games in my library hoping to get Steam to detect that the files are indeed on my drive, but no, the stupid thing doesn't detect the files and starts to download the game again. Somehow that caused the entire MGSV directory to be wiped from my drive. What in the fuck. The one day I have every few months to sit down and sink some real time into a game this nonsensical bullshit happens.

Currently downloading at under 3MB/s because fuck Comcast, where I was over 8 last night for the entirety of the game download. I want to elbow drop somebody right now.

Everything on Very High except for Effects and Post Processing.

Getting solid 60fps on everything except a few drops during cutscenes like others have reported. Really happy with the performance.

Well fuck, today's update fucked my game, I feel like crying, I only have one hour to play and come home to this...

Yesterday the game was running at 60fps,today the game is running in slow motion after the patch, is this known? Any way to revert the patch?

I turned everything to low to test and nothing.

The game actually runs better than Ground Zeroes. I have most options up to Extra High and few on High, most importatnly Effects @ 1080p.

I have done only the prologue and first mission in the actual open world Afghanistan. I have not noticed a single drop below 60, it runs VERY smooth, I was really surprised.

I have not tested it, but I would expect 30/4K with mixing up some options totally achievable.

EDIT: I should clarify: I can go higher and still be at mostly 60, but I want to have no drops whatsoever. Also on 15.8 Beta drivers

Thanks for the info! (I won't be able to get my hands on this for a while though).

The FOV in crouch/prone is killing me. This is my main gripe, and the fact that the menu integration with mouse and keyboard is awful; awful enough to make me use a controller. I can live with that.

As someone who didn't watch too much pre-release footage of this game I'm pretty shocked at how it plays. I miss my batshit 30 minute long cutscenes, but MGS has never been this much fun to play.

EDIT: I just found out about custom soundtracks. I know what must be done.

I've been having the same problem since Ground Zeroes. Konami's unfortunately ignored my requests to have it looked into, so I don't hold hope it will ever get fixed. It seems to me like it's tied to the "sticky" behavior of Boss wanting to cling to a wall, only sometimes there's no wall near so he just starts moving towards where one should be.

HBAO+ is pretty subtle, sometimes it's hard to tell if it's even on. Definitely not as obvious(ly bad) as SSAO halos. But I'm pretty sure everything would look a lot flatter with no AO at all. Performance is down a bit, into the 40s at times, but I honestly barely notice.. it still feels really smooth and consistent. And it still spends most of its time around 60, especially out in the open. GTX-680.

No crashes here. Except when the cat decided to lay across the keyboard in some way that TPP didn't like.. pretty sure that's not a driver issue, though.

Had this issue yesterday. I was already half way through the download then when I came back, it was back to 16%. It's frustrating.

It does the same thing in Ground Zeroes. Seems to be happening since switching to Windows 10 but I may be imagining things.

I updated the driver to whatever the current released version is but this beta may be worth checking out. Do you have a link to the beta driver or can I update it to a beta from the driver utility? Thanks for the tip.

I bought a sapphire 280x OC and was having similar issues. Not that I suggest doing the following, but it worked for me. After trying a few different firmwares I tried a different brand (XFX) and it works great now. None of the issues I had before.

Like I said, I can't easily recommend it because it can obviously fuck up your card.

There was a small update yesterday.
I heard that steam download's progress will reset if you pause it after an update rolled out.

I have a 970 and a 4790k, with 16GB of ram. Phantom Pain has been pretty much flawless in how it runs so far, 99% of the time the game will run at 60, but I do get the occasional slight slowdown which seems to be an odd universal thing with certain effects stacking briefly too close to the camera, it always involves things being too close to your view, I feel like it's an engine thing.

I can't wait until people come up with the modded Extra High settings again, TPP looks great but I know it can get better, given the difference it made in Ground Zeroes.

I run it at 2560x1440 through DSR, downsampled to 1080p, I've run both this and GZ at 3840x2160 on multiple occasions and surprisingly it makes no significant difference, the Aliasing at 1080p VS 1440 is quite a significant improvement, but any higher and it just doesn't even matter, but it will slice your framerate completely in half no matter how much or little is happening on screen, some games don't take to downsampling very well.

1440p downsampled is definitely the sweet spot as far as playing on 1080p screens go, as you get diminishing returns if you go any higher, it just doesn't matter for whatever reason.
Actually come to think I suspect 1440p to be ideal because of it being a multiple of 720, which sadly the setting files in GZ confirmed that both current and last gen versions of the game were kind of made with a 720p foundation in mind despite looking great at 1080p.

Reposting my specs:

i7 4790k (stock)
GTX 980 Ti (stock)
16GB RAM
Windows 10 64 Bit
latest Nvidia drivers 355.82

Pretty much smooth 60fps while playing the Prologue with no dips. All settings are at the max and 2560x1440 resolution.

Will go through chapter episode 1 soon.

Just went through episode 1 and again, pretty much no dips during gameplay or cutscenes. 980 Ti is kind of overkill for this game though. :p

1080p/60fps Maxed Out no drops through the Prologue except one moment where the game froze a second before a scripted event. Smooth sailing otherwise.

The HBAO stuff, do I need to turn anything off in-game to make sure performance doesn't die?

Oh, and the game defaulted to 1280x800 for some reason when it started

I er... raise? the stakes with even weaker hardware! Specs in the video description, graphics settings default+volumetric clouds enabled. DISCLAIMER: Nothing that hasn't been already shown in trailers/gameplay demos is spoiled in this short video.

I can comfortably cap it to 30 fps and get virtually no dips. Sometimes I get small loading freezes, but nothing super annoying. I'm super ecstatic I can actually play the game with decent performance at all with such CPU. Hopefully this helps people with similarly outdated hardware that are on the fence rest easier.

is there a way to rest or move time forward?...I found that when I'm lying prone on the ground hitting the 'action' key appears to make me fall asleep but I can't tell for sure

You just gotta smoke that dank phantom cigar.

I'll be on the lookout for this cigar then...

EDIT: just did a Google search...that's the only way to rest?...it can easily be missed by most players and requires you to choose your beginning character build carefully...I'm still in the first Mission area but now I need to start a new game to get this item

What is with the multiple server login screens and 10 update screens i have to click through whenever i start the game?

Isnt the online for pc still months away?

What? I never picked it and it's been in my inventory for the entire game, as far as I know.

Anyone else having this issue?

Sometimes when I open the menu and select one of the tabs the loading symbol just hangs there indefinitely or I am unable to move to another tab at all. Exiting the menu and reopening it generally seems to work.

Not a huge deal, but irritating nonetheless.

Pretty sure it shows up in your inventory either immediately or after you pick certain plants and Miller tells you that they can use them to make cigars.

Like for Mother Base development? I get the blank options quite a bit. Pretty annoying.

Phantom Cigars are a basic loadout piece. As long as you have Wormwood you should have it, and the game starts you off with like 20 of them.

It's to do with the online portion of the game, if you play offline every menu loads instantly. Really dumb.
