I have a 970 and a 4790k, with 16GB of ram. Phantom Pain has been pretty much flawless in how it runs so far, 99% of the time the game will run at 60, but I do get the occasional slight slowdown which seems to be an odd universal thing with certain effects stacking briefly too close to the camera, it always involves things being too close to your view, I feel like it's an engine thing.
I can't wait until people come up with the modded Extra High settings again, TPP looks great but I know it can get better, given the difference it made in Ground Zeroes.
I run it at 2560x1440 through DSR, downsampled to 1080p, I've run both this and GZ at 3840x2160 on multiple occasions and surprisingly it makes no significant difference, the Aliasing at 1080p VS 1440 is quite a significant improvement, but any higher and it just doesn't even matter, but it will slice your framerate completely in half no matter how much or little is happening on screen, some games don't take to downsampling very well.
1440p downsampled is definitely the sweet spot as far as playing on 1080p screens go, as you get diminishing returns if you go any higher, it just doesn't matter for whatever reason.
Actually come to think I suspect 1440p to be ideal because of it being a multiple of 720, which sadly the setting files in GZ confirmed that both current and last gen versions of the game were kind of made with a 720p foundation in mind despite looking great at 1080p.
