Huh I didn't realize this was coming out at the same time as Taken King. I'll wait a little bit since I already have many games on my plate. I'm glad it's looking good, though.

This is a true showcase for Xbox One in every area except the racing. Inconsistent difficulty, random payouts and way too many dull events seriously spoil the party.

This quote intrigues me.

Surely difficulty is set by the player?, random payouts?, I get the "dull events" point though.

Yes Nurburgring in the list doesn't really tell you that this includes both the modern GP series and the massive Nordschleife track too.

Agreed. Honestly the showcases, changes to the Drivatars(and some of the little issues there), the new tracks, and the cars all make a simply stellar package. It is just...fun.

It is, there are no random payouts he is most likely indicating the wheel of fortune game. Which is like saying "your a boring shit for giving me money." Dull events could be anything.

The one I find funny is the "this can't happen stuff" Welp I have been racing in cars and had exactly that kind of sh*t happen so I guess it was an alternate dimension.

Great reviews all around. Glad to see they fixed whatever the hell they did wrong with FM5.

Is Driveclub locked 60 fps?

Same shit if somebody asking you : does F6 has dynamic weather, dynamic TOD, Global Illumination and other stuff. Right? Right.

Anyway, great reviews. Hope that racing genre will see some boost up in sales. Sales are in decline for several years.

Some of these lower scored reviews just seem to be nitpicking, I've been playing since Forza 1 and just by playing the demo this game felt like a step up from Forza 5.

Just one note. There's one thing I did while playing for review purposes the other day: you guys should try and play some Forza 5 and Project CARS in between your long F6 sessions, if at all possible. That makes the difference and the many improvements fond here much more apparent. Not only graphics-wise, but also handling, physics, presentation, etc. And btw, I do like new Career mode.

I added a 9/10 2nd opinion here.

Wow fantastic scores. As a recent Xbox One owner I've still not finished with Forza 5 (it came with the console)

I rented Forza 5 at launch and didn't finish it, but I've been waiting for it to become really cheap so that I could pick it up and possibly finish it. However, now Forza 6 is already practically out, and that takes precedence because it's a better game.

I've never fully finished a mainline Forza game before. Just the two Horizons.

Yes, plus he says the sim handling is "weird", he couldn't manage to drive it properly without STM on, and he doesn't like driving the slow(er) cars.

Well the game is set up to be accessible by all but that does sound odd. Rating it at his level would have made more sense.

Just read the GamesRadar review and is this review a joke or something? Does the guy even like sim racing games because his opinions are baffling.

sim handling is hard, news at 11. Also there is an option for the drivatars to be less agressive.

And I wouldn't have them any other way. As I discussed in my review this is the first time that I felt, REALLY felt that they were different and not just somewhat chaotic racers. It was fantastic and I saw a lot of improvements and some subtly that wasn't there prior.

Though they lose their shit in the rain. I mean pure dope town

Yeah, flicking through their reviews of similar titles, it appears that GR just don't like Sim style racers, and prefer arcade style ones.

I've no issue with that, it's their opinion.

They should disclaimer their reviews accordingly then in that case.

Its like someone reviewing FIFA while having no interest whatsoever in football.

This has been an issue for a while with racing game reviews.

His talk about the Random Payouts comes from this:

About an hour into the game, I hit level three and won a Lotus F1 car worth 2,000,000 credits. I also won 1,000,000 credits soon after. So when you're gambling rare cards on the prospect of maybe a 10,000 credit bonus, it feels a bit meaningless. A shame, since the spinner and the Mod cards are both truly great elements. They just don't work together.

He likes the Mods and the Level Wheel, but not together.

But the game isn't about that kind of driving for 90% of the time. Sporadic showcase events may let you try some more exotic cars early on but, for the most part, career mode is slow and boring. There are 5 main 'volumes' of race types, ranging from pootling road cars and nostalgia-laden classics to snarling beasts and V8 Supercars. You spend most of your time in sedate, joyless races, going through the motions of driving and hitting rewind when you fail. Forza 6 is actually much more engaging when you disable rewind - where's the fun in do-or-die manoeuvres if it's really just 'do or mulligan'?

...then turn Rewinds off?

Why didn't he complain about Auto-Braking and Auto-Steering?

I dont win the jackpot on every scratch card I buy, therefore scratch cards are shite ;)

Each to their own but anyone can tailer the game to a degree and many of those things he mentioned can be.

More like he wins on the Scratch Cards all the time, making bonus cheques he gets for Work Obsolete. ;)

But when Formula E became available and the first race was an 8-lap slog around Indianapolis, I wondered where gaming went wrong. I found myself sitting there, stony-faced, maintaining 138mph, in the lead, with no need to brake, and no chance of being passed. The frantic orchestral music and pounding drums reached crescendo after crescendo as I spent ten minutes of my life gently nudging left. Racing games are better than this and we must never forget that.

My word...he says that Indy Racing is just turning left...and it's Forza's fault for including it!

There is 1 particular race in the career mode that if he had every single assist on. It could be somewhat what he described.
1 single race.
1.

I am now interested in knowing just how far he got in the game as a whole. Its starting to sound...odd

Enjoyed F2 and 3. Never really got into the rest. Play the F6 Demo with a few friends last night and it was pretty fun. Did the Spin and Win thing and got a Bugatti Veyron. :D Probably just a tease unlock for the full game.

Overall I enjoyed it but I am truly rubbish at most driving games and I think I would probably get a bit more mileage from Horizon 2 but I will certainly keep an eye on 6 to see how it goes. Reviews all looking pretty solid so far.

For what its worth FH2 was, in my eyes, the most fun racing game in the last couple gens.
Forza 6 eclipses it handily.

I think the worse thing is that he doesn't know what is Indycar and Formula E? Unless there's actually some weird event that is exactly like the Indycar showcase from the demo but with Formula E which would make it pretty damn boring.

I really don't get it. Every time a racing game gets released there are reviews from people who don't like arcade or sim racing games.

How so? Playing the demo I found out that I am a bit tired of the Motorsport series. Is there anything that can bring me back? Weather might not be enough...

Well, that took 18 replies.

Not bad.

Fucking 18. Might as well have named the Thread "Other Game Review thread"

I really don't get it. Every time a racing game gets released there are reviews from people who don't like arcade or sim racing games.

For this one though, in particular, its someone who does like racing games but is sticking so dogmatically to their own established patterns and instincts that they refuse to adjust and artificially bring their own review down. Versus say just hating racing.
These are the people that would FAIL utterly in the rain tracks lol

89 MC is pretty impressive for the 6th game in the series. And coming off what a lot of people consider a lackluster game (5, not Horizon 2).

It's great that T10 are getting good reviews but these numbers mean little to me. If the demo is anything to go by then this is the racing game I have been looking for. Haven't played Project Cars but I don't think it runs 1080p 60fps on console and my PC probably couldn't manage it. DC looks nice but it's 30fps and cars handle terribly.

I'm playing Horizon 2 right now and it's great. Can't wait for Motorsport 6. So happy I bought an Xb1.
