Forza Motorsport 6 Review Thread

It's great that T10 are getting good reviews but these numbers mean little to me. If the demo is anything to go by then this is the racing game I have been looking for. Haven't played Project Cars but I don't think it runs 1080p 60fps on console and my PC probably couldn't manage it. DC looks nice but it's 30fps and cars handle terribly.

I'm playing Horizon 2 right now and it's great. Can't wait for Motorsport 6. So happy I bought an Xb1.

Or technically...the numbers match what you can expect from your already enjoyable time with the demo...

why would you jump to THAT? lol

arcade racers are more my thing. but not open world ones sadly. i have specific tastes. lol

It's a sim racer. You don't like sim racers. How could it be a game "to get you the console" in the first place? I don't understand that argument at all.

Just purely out of interest.....

What distinction(s) do you use to determine arcade racers from "sim" racers.

I know T10 have done everything they can (arguably at the determent to people who want a "proper" sim) to make it as accessible as possible to everyone.

it isn't an argument, just a comment. lol

i was speaking in general. if sims where my thing (or anyones thing) and they didn't own a xbone, this seems like a good one to push me (or them) over the edge.

As others stated you can make the game pretty arcadish in a satisfying way.

Still wish they supported existing racing wheels on Xbox One. My biggest complaint about the whole system (and PS4 as well). Gamepad and a Forza game do not go along very well. Sure, it's very drivable but the experience is still hollow.

But good reviews. Nice to see they learned their lesson(s) with Forza 5.

i want to drift around corners with very little skill required, and be able to floor it around even the tightest turns. i don't want the limitations of reality hindering my speed. basically i want burnout before it went crap (paradise) lol

i'd probably be ok with horizon if it was track based. but i find open world racers incredibly tedious and i've tried pretty much all of them. plus a closed track horizon may as well just be called PGR5 (which honestly, MS should get on with already)

Shame you can't try the demo, because I reckon you might be surprised just how accessible you can make it.

Sounds like the new NFS game is right up your alley.

Did the "not open world" argument appear? Hope not because it was one of the most bizzare statements I have heard during DC review period.

accessible isn't arcade though. i know you can make the game dumb as hell if you so wish, with rewinds and auto breaking and driving lines. but that's not really the same thing as an arcade racer. unless there's some sort of of mode that just turns the game into burnout/NFS hot persuit or something? in which case i'm in.

if it wasn't open world, it might have been. picky tastes remember....plus the heavy use of DOF, motion blur, night racing and reflective streets and jj abrams lens flare make it nigh on impossible to see where you're even going. and that's not even counting the "cinematic racing camera"

there needs to be more legit track based arcade racers. MS has the IP for one as far as i'm aware (PGR) but won't make it :(

You do know that in FH2 the actual races take place in predefined circuits within the world. You can drive around and explore the world if you like, but the races are just like any other racing game.

Looking good

I hope to buy this and an Xbox One pretty soon depending on the prices. Would love to buy a smaller version that has a disc drive.

It looks like this'll be a very high 80's metacritic game. That's rare these days. When Forza 3 and 4 came out the review landscape was quite different so I'd say so far this is the most critically acclaimed Forza to date.

Impressive.

I still think you'd be surprised just how arcade you can make it feel!

Drifting and burnouts can be done with aplomb, the physics aren't as edgy as other sims, and more forgiving once you go over the grip envelope.

I really enjoyed Forza Horizon 2. I like the arcady, street racing games. However, I'm not that into sim racing on tracks. So should I give this a try?

The reviews are looking good. I'm still going to wait until we see what the progression/dlc is like post release before making my purchase decision.

This is a true showcase for Xbox One in every area except the racing. Inconsistent difficulty, random payouts and way too many dull events seriously spoil the party.

GamesRadar+ lost whatever credibility they had left if any.

Would be awesome if they could. Pitch black flying down the Mulsanne straight whilst trying to avoid puddles would be crazy.

Headlights + water reflections. That'd be glorious. It'd also be pretty taxing on the hardware but I'm sure they could figure it out.
