Prizefighting, how does it work?

I mean yeah, she'll get numbers on name alone and because the UFC is already struggle-tier in all sectors

but silva was more deserving of a rematch by far

ronda got washed top to bottom. there isn't a single positive she can take from this fight other than the paycheck

This is nothing like the Matt Serra fight. Serra landed a single punch that set everything off. Holly picked Ronda apart in every aspect. Garbage comparison.

Preach. Shits aren't comparable at all. Ronda at no point was ever close to dominating the fight. Holly downloaded Ronda the second girl charged her.

If you really need to make it seem like a fluke you're better off arguing that Holly is a precog and simply placed her fist were Ronda's head was going to be.

I'm not saying GSP and Ronda are the same. GSP is obviously more well rounded.

Up until Ronda became a media darling, everyone knew she was best known for her 1st round armbars.

She bought into her own hype and surrounded herself with yes men.

If she got this dose of reality and realized "Hey, you know what? I'm not very good at boxing. I should stick to what I'm great at."

She could come back and be very dominate with her submissions like she has in the past.

She has obvious holes she needs to close up. She needs a new camp/coach as well.

She could very well do those things. Doesn't mean there is any similarity between the GSP/Serra fight and this one.

Lol@ fluke

Ronda has always had shitty stand up
Yeah, it was the most obvious hole in her game. It was always baffling seeing Rogan and others talk up her striking like it was so great when it seemed as best that she was just a couple fights removed from getting bopped.

Your point?

Probably that Holly landed hard shots repeatedly and with ease, and nullified Ronda's clinch and takedown attempts, even slamming Ronda at one point, and when Ronda did get a takedown Holly stay calm, easily avoided the armbar and got back to her feet.

Your gif shows Serra landing his one good shot that hurt and wobbled GSP, at which point it was all but over as a badly hurt and out of it GSP just tried to clinch and hold on.

Holly dismantled Ronda in pretty much every area, Serra got in a hard shot and hurt GSP about halfway into round 1.

I'm sure you understand the big difference but are just a little upset right now.

Nobody else in the division deserves an immediate shot at Holly, so the rematch is the best option for all involved tbh.

i think Holly should fight someone else before Ronda. To be fair Ronda has fought a lot more in the last 2 years.

Ronda needs time to get her shit together.

People need to just take the L. I was never a fan of Ronda myself, but I will openly admit I got caught up in the hype several times and thought she had better striking than she really does.

Just admit it bro's and gal's that are her fans and move on. Put your faith in Ronda training her ass off and sticking to a grappling heavy game in a potential rematch.

if you want to compare another high profile upset/fight to this one, it's Brock/Cain. Just like when Brock took down Cain and Cain got back up with ease, Holly defending Ronda's judo throw in the 1st like it was nothing probably mentally defeat her.

Yeah, it was a stupid gameplan.

But to talk Holm up when she was 2-0 prior to this (one a snoozefest, the other a split decision) is ridiculous to me.

People acting as if Ronda has 0% chance against Holm is crazy. This was a Matt Serra fluke.

She does have 0% chance. Nothing I saw in that fight indicated that Rousey is even in Holly's class. She completely humiliated Rousey from the opening bell. Rousey couldn't even touch Holly half the time.

I don't think she bought into her own hype. She believed the hype her trainers instilled in her. She also didn't surround herself with Yes men. She's been with the same camp of people her entire MMA career and a good deal of her Jude career as well.

They just seem like the types of fighters/trainers that don't adapt and continue improving very well.

There's no taking anything away from Holm. She put on a clinic in that fight.

But Rousey's corner after the first round? Praising and encouraging her execution of an awful gameplan at that point has to be tantamount to negligence. Just sheer stupidity and hubris from fighter and coach.

Yeah if Rousey wants to have any kind of real success after this, and a shot at doing anything against Holm she needs to ditch Edmond ASAP.

She should go to Tri Star but they probably wouldn't like her at all due to her personality. Maybe AKA then

Your point?

GSP ate a two piece that rocked him and that was it.

Ronda got absolutely picked apart on the feet, AND when she actually scored two clinches, and damn near had one armbar attempt succeed, Holm got out of it. Holm even scored 1 takedown for good measure. She beat Rousey in every single damn aspect of MMA. Your comparison is incredibly weak.

Yeah, her corner failed her.

They should have encouraged her to fight like a judoka instead of misguidedly encouraging her to try and outbox a world champion boxer.

Yeah, something looks off with her...

She always looks like that at weigh ins. Maybe they'll say she had a bad cut but I doubt she actually did. Her being gassed seemed a lot more like an adrenaline dump to me because she came in there with her emotions pretty high.

Ronda needs time to get her shit together.

She just needs to get a better striking coach and change the gameplan to actively try harder to get the clinch instead of striking with someone way more accurate with good movement.

Ronda can win as long as she doesn't try to stand up and box. She didn't seem to want to go to the mat at all.

People shit all over GSP for being boring, but he always respected his opponents. Ronda seriously tried to out punch a puncher. Never fall in love with the stand up.

Ronda was going to take a break until UFC 200 if she won anyways.

That was her and Dana's plan.

Sure, that's okay then.

Yup. I wonder what was going through Ronda's mind when that happened and during her big whiff.

Ronda knew right then and there that she was fighting an opponent who wasn't intimidated by her.

Will you be more or less upset than you are right now?
not upset, more baffled at the "Holm = unbeatable" talk.

Well, if Rousey were to lose, it would remind me of Anderson vs Weidman. Someone who is just the antithesis to your style. Match ups make fights and maybe Holm's style dominates Ronda's.

But in all honesty, I can see Cat or Miesha dethroning Holm.

Cat no, Meisha maybe. I think Meisha has a style that may give her a bit of issue. Cat is way too wild. Same thing would happen to her that happened to Ronda imo

The grappling is the most shocking part of all. Ronda failed throws, allowed Holly to get up, and was even taken down.

Sifu Jackson can be credited here, but I also think after a few camps The Dolce Diet finally took its toll on Ronda. She looked flabby n sick, tiring quickly. The perfect storm, with the blueberry bro science breakfast bowl being the catalyst.

Prizefighting, how does it work?

Apparently, making shit-tons of money is bad, heel.

I love how people think Ronda, the most successful champ in the history of WMMA shouldn't get a rematch, when Ronda was ready and willing to give Meisha Tate a THIRD match before this fight was signed and none of these posters were saying shit about that.

her striking coach is a fraud, both as a coach and as a human being

ronda's mom isn't a fan of him either: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhelhurItP4&t=24m24s

she probably saw the downfall coming a mile away

I think it was then that she realized she was outclassed.

It's like when Vegeta was fighting Frieza and him realizing he wasn't actually a Super Saiyan.

It was an "Oh Shit." moment.
