New Valkyria (Media Vision, RPG [not SRPG], new world) and VC1 Remaster for PS4 (JP)

I mean am I just safe to play the PC version? Lol. I don't care about trophies plus there are achievements on Steam if I wanted that. I think.

We don't know anything besides trophy support, 'visual enhancements' and the like.

Dat RPG party ui in the bottom screen. Time to press the panic button.

I kid, but I'm massively disappointed that this probably isn't going to be the fully realised console VC sequel I wanted.

I think if they were going to do anything extra with the remaster we would probably know of it by now.

I swear to god though if they add in the ability to skip mission briefing or extra DLC and don't bring it to the PC version... orz

The graphics look great and the scale is amazing - I had a soft spot for the muted color palette in VC1, but this looks nice.

I'm still incredibly wary about the battle system and accompanying gameplay though - I don't think having wide open areas will benefit any kind of strategy.

At the very least, the new engine looks amazing.

I can't wait to see a new Chronicles game with it.

Hmm. We'll see. It does look nice, but man, does anyone even have a gun in this game? It does seem like a near-complete abandonment of the things that originally made Valkyria Chronicles stand out from the crowd. I guess we'll see, but it's probably better for my sanity not to think of this as a Valkyria game at all and pretend it's a new IP.

There are guns in the game. Sniper rifles are mentioned in Famitsu. And one of the characters in the scans is holding one.

One more screenshot:

At least the graphics are good. I just hope that the gameplay is better than simple hack & slash action RPG, and that not everyone uses swords. (Why..?)

Seriously, I've only seen one character use a gun so far.

Looks absolutely beautiful! Left at like page 26 thread was depressing are we done being in meltdown mode so we can talk about how good this looks?. Wonder how that girl with the gun will play

We all agree that it looks good, but that doesn't mean it will play well.

I'm just hoping that everyone can switch between firearms and melee weapons like swords - having entirely sword-locked allies would be... well, stupid.

I sincerely hope that they're just showing off the swords, and that they're not all they can use.

There's a Famitsu screen with one dude holding a rifle with an aiming reticle. No worries about guns.

That being said we already have confirmation that there are mystical beings that will transform into tanks, so asking for guns seems a little like an... underwhelming request. lol

Valkyria Revolution this is,Valkyria Chronicles this is not. It is essentially a new IP with Valkyria elements.

So yes, it makes sense to think of this game as separate from Valkyria Chronicles.

I already considered this game to be separate from Valkyria Chronicles. People just don't understand. :/

I wouldn't mind asking them to take that BS out if a bigger request is needed.

It's hard to consider it seperate from the 3 already-existing "Valkyria" games, it's an outlier.

From what I've heard - as a non-shining player - this is essentially a combination/cash-in using the "Valkyria" name to boost-up/reinvigorate what is essentially another "Shining" game.

Which it is supposed to be as has been made abundantly clear.

You guys keep repeating the same things. If your so salty about it, i think we can leave it to people who are actually wanting to discuss the game itself.

This is also completely unconfirmed and nigh irresponsible. The shining devs have been making tons of good games that play completely different, including the Digimon titles.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
Those screenshots are beeeeaaauuuutiful

Atleast until mods ban genre/chronicles whining.

Asking them to take out mecha related things that makes Revolution universe Revolution is the same as naming a Chronicles game Chronicles and taking out the tanks.

If you want to ignore everything bad about how a game is presented or a company's decisions, that's your prerogative.

Saying that reintroducing the Valkyria franchise after years of absence with a spinoff that bears little-to-no resemblance to past titles in the Valkyria franchise is a good idea is, also, a lie. (At worst, incredibly naive at best.)

Based on what we have so far, it's a completely understandable statement. They're very similar and we have seen little to believe it's overwhelmingly different.

Until we know more, it will be a worry I will continue to have.

Screenshots look beautiful, since I love both SRPGs and more traditional RPGs I am getting more and more excited about this game.

I don't see it hard when the other there had Chronicles and were numbered while the one coming isn't numbered, doesn't have Chronicles after Valkyria, and is called Valkyria Azure Revolution.

They know. It's just one of those annoying, completely random character design details that are annoying to look at.

I'm actually warming quite a bit to her design. Her shabby look has me intrigued and after reminiscing over VC1's feel-train I'm getting pretty excited to hear her backstory and the tales this new world has to tell. As much as I'm worried about the change to RPG, I just can't discount the ride VC1 gave me.

I give it one thing it's a looker alright. We need a trailer asap.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how beautiful this looks at high res and in motion. Looking at the shadows, it looks like a sketch-style overlay might be being used like in VC1? With the higher graphical standard, this could be pretty amazing.

So yeah, I think there are definitely things worth clinging onto whilst we wait to learn more about the gameplay.

p.s. Sorry for being a sock-botherer.

Are we sure that's a sock? Could just as easily be some sort of brace or cover like what people put on certain parts of their body for contact sports.

Selvaria's face doesn't feel right without Raita's art.

And the main dude looks like someone from God Eater lol.

There's nothing bad about this game is presented so far. Or Sega wanting a spinoff branch of the same franchise.

The only whining i'm hearing is from people who keep acting like this is supposed to be Chronicles when it never was supposed to be or promised to be Chronicles.

There's nothing bad about wanting a proper sequel to or another iteration of Valkyria Chronicles, or being disappointed that they've chosen to make such a drastic change of course that fans of original Valkyria games may heavily dislike.

The only whining I see is from people with rose-coloured glasses who don't think anyone can voice their opinion over a game unless it's to sing its praises.

Not everyone will agree with you, deal with it.

I'm not writing the game off, I'm just disappointed and now expecting less. To its credit, it at least looks amazing.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this, but I still want to have a battalion of great and personable soldiers to lead to their death. Not Rosie though. She was Storm leader since round 1.

Unlimited anime. Is this a spin off of vc or an entirely new universe?

It's a spin-off. Seems like it's going to be an alt universe with a few constants, Valkyria and ragnite being the first that they've mentioned.

Basically this probably relates to Chronicles the way most different Final Fantasies relate to each other.

Thank you for the translation regardless!

"There’s a lot of characters in the game who don’t ever participate in battle, on both sides. They wanted to make a game with the story volume of a two cour anime series, so they made lots of characters that could each have their own problems and thoughts on the war. The war isn’t just about two countries, but about the people who actually live there. "

Hmm.. Cautiously optimistic about this. I wonder if there will be a roster of soldiers you choose from for your party, or if it's a set group of five. Hoping for the former, expecting the latter.

If you can't trust Media Vision, there aren't a whole lot of people you can trust in Japanese gaming development.

That being said, Ryouga... is there any info about the remaster at all?
The only stuff we have is "improved res", "downloadable contents", "4990 yen cost" and the release date from Gematsu. I want to know if they mentioned anything else.

One thing that's weird is in one of the scans, I think they're using a BETA screenshot? lol... in the bottom left with Rosie. That's showing off Edelweiss's beta design I think. It's been a while since I read VC1 Design Works.

Super late reply. Work called and we had a laser that was trying to kill people instead of doing its work and not killing people.

Symphogear is Wild ARMs :D But yeah, MV has been busy and I'm happy. Not happy that not all their games have made it over but happy that they can do good games still.

The third one is really great. To bad they didn't start with that one though. Anyway, Kaneko is still there

And about Kaneko if people don't remember he was actually teasing about something 2 years back and that GarakeGK thing. So yeah believ it'll come. Just Sony being Sony and, pulling stuff out of my ass, they switched from PSV only to add PS4 as well.

On topic: really, I'm more than ok with this going the action RPG route. Will be interesting seeing how it ends up.

*Waiting for pretty CE to be announced*

Hmmm. I thought Kaneko left MV and started a company called Witchcraft?
