but it runs at 60 fps on ps4 with no drops right?
Apparently the PS4 is running at 900p, which was news to me.
e: it is a statham thread so *shrug*.

Does anyone know a solution to this (without turning off SLI)? It would be nice to utilize my full 690 GTX and avoid any slowdown.
I went through about half the DX1x compatibility bits earlier to see if anything fixed it and, sadly, the trend was everything that worked performance-wise caused flickering. Could be one that works further down the list, I doubt it though.

It's 900p according to Statham. Ask him for a source of this, he didn't bother to provide one when he made a thread. What are you using to change DX1x compatibility bits, nVidia Inspector?
900p? :s

I've seen several people mention it in the OT as well. It's 900p according to Statham. Ask him for a source of this, he didn't bother to provide one when he made a thread.
Use the search function for "900p" in the OT.Is there anything at all to back up those claims? I searched for it online and could only find statham's locked thread. All the old news said 1080p. Just BS to rile people up?

holy shit guys I'm playing The Witness in VR in my DK2
seeyaaaa
(if you have SteamVR installed and are trying to use a DK2, uninstall it and launch the game with -VR)
For those with a 980ti, what's the lowest your FPS has dipped at 1080p/1440p?

Anyone not able to get Steam overlay in the game.I am unable to take any screenshots with F12 too.

Not using any external program.Nevermind got it working after restarting the game.Must have been a bug. Also disabled and reenabled the overlay in steam in-game settings and witness settings so that may have helped. If you're using RTSS try turning custom d3d support on.
My Pc configuration is:
I5 4590
GTX 960 4Gb
16 GB 1600mhz
I haven't buy a "new gen" game yet because I don't know how good is my PC compared with my PS4. This is my first PC in a looooong time.
During the holydays I had several doubts and finally bought all the games for PS4 (witcher, wolfenstein...) when they were on sale in both platforms.
Should I play this game (and others) in my PC?

Yup, this works! I only turned V-Sync off so far to kill the crazy judder it had at first, but the performance looking in a couple directions still causes it at whatever the default settings are. The positional tracking is still pretty clearly WIP but it is fucking cool still. Hopefully I can figure out how to squash the rest of the judder, I don't want to play it on my monitor now.
If you're remotely interested in puzzle solving, I'd say just buy it. It's really pretty and figuring out the puzzles is super rewarding. Then you can easily answer your various questions about CPU, GPU, DX11, and so forth.I wonder if it's more GPU or CPU bound when rendering for VR. Does only changing resolution impact it?

I was going to wait for VR support, since I can't see myself playing a puzzle game twice and it would be a shame to play without VR.
Ah, fair enough. My guess is that it will take a bit (a couple weeks?) before VR support gets solid, and I didn't want to wait that long to play.I was going to wait for VR support, since I can't see myself playing a puzzle game twice and it would be a shame to play without VR.
Now that I know it works to some extent I will get it anyway, what I'm scared and why I'm asking about GPU/CPU is whether I'll need to get a 980ti too
Getting 4K60 locked with the high preset and 61 degree vertical fov. And it's not even using my second card. The visuals are absolutely ridiculous! Man, I'll be playing this for months with the amount of screenshots I've been taking. Can't wait to play this in VR come April.
Did you test the frame rate uncapped before you locked at 60 fps?
I am asking because I played in 5120x2160 (downsampled to 2560x1080), 4xMSAA and 120hz ULMB yesterday. I did not formally test fps for some reason, but the game seemed to be running fine. I did not notice any stuttering. This is with a 3570k@4.6, 16gb RAM and Titan X.
Yeah it was running around 150 fps with occasional drops to 110. My TV hates any fps that isn't 30 or 60, so was stuttering and tearing like crazy here. Vsync is pretty much my only option. With it on, it's smooth as butter.

sun_shadow_resolution 256
point_shadow_resolution 256
skip_mipmaps 2

I'll try.
Oh is it? I was judging via Fraps with the size of the FPS counter and taking screenshots that were still coming out in 1080p. Maybe it is working after all then. I'll have to compare 2 shots at different resolutions. Thanks.
update: yeah, the resolution changes were working, I just didn't know it was an internal change.
Glad you asked this because I was wondering why I couldn't get it to work last night, internal res change makes sense.
So if I want internal resolution to be 1440p and screen resolution to be 1080p (the downsampling of the newbie I guess), can I just change the text file for the config, and this is it?
Set a custom/>1080p resolution: Right-click the game -> Properties -> Set launch options -> input -width x -height y, where x and y are your desired figures (e.g. -width 2560 -height 1440 for 1440p). (Credit to Thekla itself.)
Lots of games ignore triple buffering, unfortunately. You can often get around it by forcing a game into borderless windowed mode since Windows itself will force triple buffering.
Run the game in windowed mode and use this: https://github.com/Codeusa/Borderless-Gaming/releases
I think Blow said on Twitter that they were going to look into stutter.Game worked completely fine with the High Setting right out of the box, looks gorgeous.
But the micro stutter while panning might be some of the worst I've seen. No idea how or if that is fixable.
I believe The Witness may use both borderless and exclusive fullscreen, since I'm not running Aero and ingame vsync works properly after I press alt-enter twice (I'm theorizing this switches it back into exclusive mode). The Witness uses borderless, I think. And if you disable in-game vsync the game becomes stuttery as fuck.
