The only real question isn't whether it's happening. It's whether it's happening under an Activision-Sony partnership or Sony have bought the IP from them. I'd rather the latter ... because I can't imagine Activision putting any effort into a partnership and there's a greater chance of it being a nostalgia cashin.

I can see there being a Sony-Activision partnership for an exclusive/timed exclusive Crash in the works. It would be the megaton of their E3 this year.

Why would PlayStation Middle East have the scoop on this or be allowed to reveal it like this before e3? I'd like it to be true but this isn't a trusted source of anything.

Best would be starting the conference like this and not speaking about Crash, just speaking about numbers. Then, Crash reboot at the end.

Misleading tweet aside, as someone who works for PlayStation Saudi (separate from PlayStation Middle East which is based in Dubai), this couldn't be further from the truth. The Middle East has rapidly become an important market for SCEE over the last 5 years and as such both PS ME and PS Saudi are included in product showcases and most internal discussions.

Why do people think Sony* are capable of making a good Crash game? They tried to make their own successor with Knack and look how that played out. It wasn't great.

If Knack was anyway successful we would have seen a sequel by now - even hinted at one. At best they should just remaster the originals, but folks should remember that Sony don't own the IP so saying "Sony, pls" means nothing - take the concerns to Kotick. If he gets a whiff of money after Ratchet and Clank hits theatres then you might see a similar track.

*And don't say "Naughty Dog" they've been out of that arena for a long time now and are making more adult themed titles.

This entire thing is about cashing in on nostalgia. That's the entire reason people want Crash back.

knack looked and played absolutely nothing like Crash in the slightest. If anything, it's a poor man's God of War. I really don't know why people compare them both.

I think Crash will happen at some point. No idea who the developer will be but I don't think a deal between Sony and Activision would be that farfetched. They seem pretty close lately anyway with the marketing deals and whatnot.

I could see Sony taking development on them with Acti getting publisher rights or profit shares. They haven't made a Crash game in years so I don't see why they'd be against it. Hell they made a shitty Tony Hawk game just to cash in on the name and nostalgia.

The only proper way they do Crash, is if they bring back those epic commercials. Though now-a-days, companies would get pissy and sue. But they can still have hint bombs dropped in them.

If Sony's willing to hype up a game this much, I doubt it'd just be licensed to anyone (Granted, PSASBR was licensed to a new team and given a tiny budget). Even if ND can no longer do it, I'm sure they'd seek out a good team for a 3D platformer.

After years of dormancy following an era of mediocrity, I could see a Sony-backed Crash reboot making a killing off of nostalgia alone!

Even though I don't see ND working on a future game, but if it's under the Sony branch I could see them consulting the project like how Sucker Punch did with Sly 4 whilst Sanzaru was developing the game.

Every time I watch E3, or any press conference, my fiance asks why I'm watching.

I tell her, "I'm waiting for the crash bandicoot announcement"

She smiles, comfortingly, both of us aware that it isn't happening.

The same is true for the PS youtube channels and such, I often ask her, "can you check if a new crash bandicoot has been announced".

It's become something of a joke, for us, but it's also a little sad. :(

Yesterday i randomly watched some Playstation adverts and saw that launch trailer for the Ps4 again...Some of you might remember it had severall easter eggs in it & even back then people tought this coud be hints for upcoming Ps4 Titles
But since the easter eggs were also including some Ps3 titles, most tought its just a tribute to the history of Playstation and its franchises (atleast i tought so)

Well now 2 Years later i realized the easter eggs were really hinting at upcoming Ps4 titles/Exclusives

Shawn Layden at PSX was enough for me to expect a Crash announcement by E3. I fully believe a new Crash game will be unveiled at E3 this year.

I think you're reading a bit much into that. They might have planned some of those but they were using symbolic PlayStation brands to simply say "this is Playstation"

Nothing more.
