Final Fantasy IX PC/Mobile |OT| How did the source code survive?

The camera just pans over your party and the monster a few times.
Wow so they took that out? That would the game so much better. Levelling up was a chore mainly due to the time it took for the camera to do that every time.
Might need to buy this version then later since I just finished it on vita.

Probably a stupid question, but does the game have multi language support? I've taken to playing mobile stuff in Spanish as I learn the language and this would be a good option.

Grabbed this on GMG with the code. Hopefully I don't regret it (port quality, not the game).

Can't redeem until I get home though.

Please do not let me serve on a jury. I am actually a crazy person.
Quintuple dip completed.
(Bought the PS1 discs three times - First one broken, and i wanted a cellophane'd copy - , then PSN, then steam.)

Awesome. I played maybe the first couple of hours of this a few years ago, but that's the most exposure to it I've had. I think at this point it's the last non-MMO Final Fantasy I haven't spent any time with.

Bought. Won't be able to dive in until after the weekend, but I am extremely keen. Those speed boosters look like a great idea too.

Just played this game on epsxe last fall but quit around disk 3. It was MUCH better as an adult than I remember as a kid. I didn't even have trouble with the slow battles, I think that problem was overblown. Either way I guess it's fixed now.

Tempted to buy this but I think I got all I need from the last run. Disk 1 and 2 are masterpieces, but I think it drags a bit after that.

So this is a quality port on PC then? Awesome.

Many of these are done by different companies with the source material from different platforms which makes it difficult to set a precedent.

In FF6 they are working on mods to replace all the sprites with the SNES versions but they also discovered how to scale the new sprites correctly. They actually look pretty good once you remove Squares elinexplicable scaling method.

That's how I've been playing it, the de-blur mod is amazing, the new tiles for the world look great and the new sprites don't look so bad when they look like actual sprites and not blurry messes.

Woke up this morning and bought it. Has anyone already tried it out? Are the loading times better for the battles? Graphics okay? I'm excited to play it, but I won't be able to until this Summer D:

Was getting caught part of your plan?
I have finished this game about 6 times already since 2000.

Is it worth paying 20 bucks to play it again?

Yes it is

To avoid to literally fall asleep while playing the original on PSOne, had to hack the speed at x2.

Didn't work.

Changed to x4.

Didn't work.

So I'm really glad they've worked on speed, will grab it sometime next summer.

played 3 hours and had alot of fun. Looks like it will be my favorite FF :)

But thx god for turbo mode, combat would take forever without it oO

I found a video of turbo mode and I'm not a fan of it.

I'm not a fan of the whole "it looks like everyone has haste on" look.

More than that, I always play Final Fantasy's on Active at the highest speed. Playing active, highest speed with turbo mode isn't what the game is designed for.

Square Enix had one job: fix the slow battle transition load times and make the battle system no longer slow as molasses.

Instead, they've only given us a half measure that doesn't satisfy everyone.

Square Enix: "Half assing since 2003. Our games take ten years to make and we can't even do HD ports of our classics right."

It's really not. The load times are really bad as well.

FF7 and especially 8 are crisp in comparison.

Everyone has different tolerances of course, but people were acting like the game wasn't worth playing because of the battle speed. That is overblown imo.

The whole thing only came to my attention through GAF.

You aren't wrong. I've just been playing vanilla though on iOS and it's pretty good. I wish MFi worked day one though.

The game has set a new record for most concurrent players among other FF games, according to steamspy. Even VII and VIII, let alone XIII, did not have such a welcome on release day.

Here's hoping for Tactics and X/X-2 next.

It's definitely worth playing but it's a massive flaw. I think it could be a top five Final Fantasy with proper optimization. Without it, I think it's a mid-tier FF. It is an absolute chore to play sometimes.

QUESTION!:
its this a proper port or just a quickbux port of the iOS release?
because i have noticed they got rid of the woobliness caused by lack of subpixel accuracy that the PSX suffered back in the day

This uses whatever assets the IOS is using.

It's a PC port though.

The scaling on the background looks like vomit, we are hoping it can filtered and modded.

It's SE. What do you think this is? ;)

Got it for $13.50 from GMG. Probably should have waited till summer sale since I won't get to it for a while, but what the hell, love this game.

Playing it with the Steam Controller and it's awesome how I can map the high speed mode to a button so I can get in and out of it very fast. Makes easy to switch during battle when you are just waiting for everyone's bar do fill.
