So I decided to give the show a shot. Can't be that bad, right?
End this now. It's not even any of the same voice actors? Oh man. And that clipping gif? Damn.
Worried about Samurai Jack now for sure.

The whole removal of Miss Bellum is weird in a lot of ways.
If the sexy lady who represents the ridiculousness of the male gaze and trivializing of women's abilities clashes with the MO of the show, what does that say about them keeping HIM?
An effeminate creepy crossdressing ambiguously gay devil man who was created in a less LGBT-friendly time and is essentially the embodiment of all evil in that universe.
You'd think he would have been the first one on the chopping block if they were looking to make the series more progressive.
:/
I believe so. But it certainly used it better then this show. Also another error in the new show I came across, don't have the link though: In one scene Buttercup says Blossom's line and not only that, they forgot to put in Blossom's hair (her ponytail).
Budget=Literally peanuts.
Yeah. If they were truly trying to make inroads, HIM would have been upgraded to perhaps a well-meaning anti-hero, or even an anti-villain.

Im sorry, but HIM is an awesome villain just. how. he.isThe whole removal of Miss Bellum is weird in a lot of ways.

Seconding this. Also, that shot with the "property of" has to be fake right?
I'm not really into this trend of screengrabbing individual incomplete frames and posting them as proof of some great wrong. Same goes for tweening frames and such.
Your favorite show probably has animation mistakes as well that are fixed for the rebroadcast/DVD/BR, so whatever. If you're going to criticise the show, criticise the show.
How does something like this even happen in 2016?

I just feel that if this is all that people can come up with to talk about when the conversation is focused on how bad a show is, then the entire exercise loses steam. Mistakes in a vacuum, placed in a tweet with a caption "#1 reason X show is trainwreck" is low effort commentary. You're not wrong, but it's telling in itself that this is what people are noticing about the show. If it was well-written, the discourse would be entirely different.
Well yes - every show is inherently visual. And there are animation mistakes in even the most high budget productions, even in 3D flicks where scenes are meticulously planned out.Even though the show's animation is kind of a big part of the show itself?
Sure, other shows have animation mistakes too, but the difference is that those other shows slipups could at least be excused for generally being of a high quality of work otherwise (at least in most cases). A fair amount of what we've seen of the new PPG show is rather dubious of quality in general. Errors like these that are popping up are just another element added to it, especially --if some of these screencaps are genuine-- how egregious they are.
And "trend"? Far from it. People have been pointing out animation errors for all types of shows over the years (Attack on Titan, The Simpsons, Sonic Underground, GI Joe are some that come to mind); but obviously people are focusing on this show in particular because that's what the thread topic is about.

Sorry to hear that,
as someone who worked on the show (my episode has not aired yet),
everyone seemed to have the heart at the right spot.
If Episode 12 sucks, it will partially be my fault.
Hence why I am give most series some leeway. When the artists get a grasp on their style for a show it tends to be a lot more consistent. The first like 25 episodes of SU were pretty rough. Like, hard to watch again rough. Mostly for the art style.
The first like 25 episodes of SU were pretty rough. Like, hard to watch again rough. Mostly for the art style.Fair enough. I too am willing to give the show some leeway. 1st seasons can be rough, but I can see why people are popping up red flags for this show.
The fact it is a beloved series amplifies critiques up to 11 as well.
The first season of Adventure Time is a little rough too but it's still good. The first like 25 episodes of SU were pretty rough. Like, hard to watch again rough. Mostly for the art style.
If I had to venture a guess, much like Attack on Titan Production was rushed before quality control could be finished leading to messy animation in general. I'd have to hear more to see what exactly happened but right now this screams cash grab (sadly).
It's especially sad considering how strong CN's lineup is at the moment and then they dump PPG like this.
Apparently Mojo's dog teleports.
And thanks for liking Ep 12 dity, I can tell you that there was a ton of more stuff with Mojo etc.
I'm going to see where that file is and put it on my website.
EPISODE 12, UNCUT!
Im sorry, but HIM is an awesome villain just. how. he.is
The point of my post was questioning why they saw fit to remove Miss Bellum for being problematic while keeping the effeminate crossdressing queer devil man who's the embodiment of all evil in a society where a lot of the representation effeminate queer men get in the media involves psychotic villainy or gross out gags.
It's just a little odd to me that this flew over their heads.
These can't be real.
all these complaints make me feel like the show is doing what I always imagined this "remake" to be and what it sorta always was meant to.
I mean, is it that hard to picture this now having Bubbles go all "YAASSS QUEEN" and being tumblr-centric or whatever the fuck
that's what the target audience is into now
of course it sucks for me, why wouldnt it

CN has sucked since 2006.

How does something like this even happen in 2016?
Ok, CN sucked from 2005-2010, but since 2010 has been getting good again.
More than once in this show apparently.
How does something like this even happen in 2016?
But during that time, CN was running lame cartoons such as "Squirrel Boy", "My Gym Partner is a Monkey", and "Camp Lazlo".Yeah, during that period Cartoon Network was barely Cartoon Network, with all those cheesey teen live-action shows that they were airing.
Not sure why you included my post but...
It's possible to like things while critiquing them.
HIM is cool (probably my favorite villain from the series), but he's also a very stereotypical played-out sissy villain creepy crossdresser relic character with tons of homophobic and effemiphobic qualities; he can come off as really offensive to a lot of people, and it's clear that a lot of what makes him unnerving has to do with his gender expression and even sexuality- like when he licks the professor-. Which makes sense given that he was created by straight men in the 90s.
