Seeing as how they were most likely working independently and had to recreate these assets from scratch in a real time environment without the lee way of prerendering higher detailed assets for specific scenes, it seems like that is the compromise they came to in altering certain models and lighting conditions.
Like their FFX/X2 work, the asset changes are controversial..i still think these scenes are not bad though, just different.
in the trailer, during the elevator shaft segment with harley, i noticed that the lighting was completely redone, the original was just a nasty orange and blue hue all the time, showing its earlier UE3 roots, but now that segment is completely full of color and more dynamic
