Essentially this. Like come on, don't try to bang your great aunt's boyfriend RIGHT after she died.

Yeah, do it before she died. And make Peggy watch, knowing she'd keep forgetting she'd seen it and trap her in the Hell that is seeing Steve dance with Sharon.

Whenever I see people analyze relationships in movies/TV and say something like "It didn't build up enough" or "It's too soon for them to act like this" or whatever, I often wonder if they've just had completely different experiences from myself.

The idea of in a very short time becoming attracted/interested enough to feel strongly or (god forbid) kiss someone makes perfect sense to me, especially when you add the context of high-stakes danger to the mix.

I just want a buddy cop comedy starring Falcon and Winter Soldier.

Cap could be captured and they could need to work together to save him.

Agreed on all counts, Hayley.

We all know Steve should have gotten together with that cute waitress from The Avengers instead anyway.

Falcon & Bucky's back and forth in this movie was great. I swear everyone has those 2 friends that are loyal as shit to you, but can't stand each other if you put them in a room together.
Yea those guys were great, I'd love a buddy cop movie of them bickering lol

When your partner could say "you know I really tried getting into your aunt's panties" it's icky.
Why? Can adults not move on from past relationships? It's possible for an aunt and niece to be near each others age without time travel. As close as a sister or cousin. It's messy when you cheat or rebound. All three parties lives went in vastly different directions and one happened to be a love interest to two family members at vastly different periods in all of their lives. So what? They're adults. Get over it people.

Steve and Peggy's "relationship" never moved beyond flirting. It's not like they were married.

This.

There was no relationship. Peggy moved on and had a husband and kids.

She has no claim on Steve and her character would want him to be happy considering his profound loneliness.

There was already sexual tension between those two characters before he found out she was related to Peggy, and I doubt that would be a dealbreaker.

Relationships in Marvel films seem increasingly problematic for them. It was a bizarre and out of place scene - I got no sense of attraction between them and they've only had a couple scenes.

Did steve ever give the impression he moved on?

It was worse when they gave Sharon his tree beside the river of truth speech not forgetting to mention the delivery was terrible and felt out of place considering where they were.

Funny response.

He's the world's expert on waiting too long, he deserves a win. Never have circumstances shit on a guy so bad as Cap; frozen before he can go on his date, thawed out 75 years later to find out she married and now has Alzheimer's. Heartbreaking.

Him going for Sharon was basically Steve showing he has still in love with Peggy but moving on in the only way he could. It was her speech, Peggy's words, that meant a lot to him and was the first time he got to see that she was as principled as her aunt, since he didn't get to see her taking his side in TWS. It was fine, it could have used a bit more set up, but the people really hating on the though of it are ridiculous.

And you can't see the problem with this?

Their very first scene together

Cap: Hey if you want, if you want, you are welcome to use my machine. If might be cheaper than the one in the basement.

Sharon: Oh yeah, what does it cost?

Cap: Cup of coffee?

Sharon: (smiles) Thank you but I already have a load in down stairs and you really wouldn't want my scrubs in your machine. I just finished a rotation in the infectious disease ward, so...

Cap: Oh well...I'll keep my distance.

Sharon: Hopefully not too far.

I take it this was one of the 2 scenes you are referring to?

Black Widow really shouldn't have been in Winter Soldier

She was Steve's only connection to SHIELD after Fury died. Falcon was just an ordinary military guy iirc.

He wasn't in love with her, they flirted for a couple of months and we went under the ice before they ever even had a date. She had 50 years of relationships before he came back, and 4 years of him coming to visit as a friend. He doesn't owe her time.

And you can't see the problem with this?
No. Time travel. Comic books.

This situation would not be able to play out in real life the way it did.

When he first met Sharon, it had been 3 years since he had kissed young Peggy, in Steve's time, but 75 years for everyone else. The whole world changed but his feelings were like it had been months.

He met Sharon not knowing they were at all related, and didn't find out for 2 years.

He wasn't in love, in love, with Peggy. They only shared a kiss and it never got to go further but he loved her because he had a deep respect for her as a person, something he also later found in Sharon. People look for qualities they find attractive, and sometimes they find those same qualities in another person. Sharon and Peggy aren't literally the same person, they look nothing alike and Sharon is from the US while Peggy is British. He's not looking for a Peggy replacement.

If I kissed a girl in elementary school, just kissed and that was it, and later met a girl after college, in another part of the country, I fell in love with and later discovered that she was that girl's sister, I don't think anyone would act like it's so weird. At best there would be a little joking about it but that's it.

Never said that, just that he obviously hasn't moved on.

???

Literally the first I've heard of anyone complaining about it.

I just saw the movie today and laughed my ass off when they kissed.
I'm sorry but, yeah, it's weird to shag the niece of your ex-lover/girl you flirted with, especially after the funeral. Just an awkward scene all around.

I don't know why they had them kiss in this film. Wasn't the right time.

That being said, I feel so bad for Emily/Sharon. She's in the worst position as a target for psycho shippers and I really like her character

Folks need to watch the end of the first avenger, the ending says all you need to know about how he felt about Peggy. She was the first thing on his mind once he woke up. Agent Carter slams over and over that they're true loves who tragically missed each other. It was at the least bad timing since she just died; they could've used that and stopped. Just an awkward mistimed scene. Save it for infinity war.
