Which also leads me to believe Neo will not ship for a while.
I know, but I usually take advantage of EBGames trade in deals that inevitably happen to keep my hardware and warranties current.
I don't really use my XB1 anymore so it is awaiting the Neo trade in promo that will happen one day ; )

There was that person playing a retail copy of Gran Turismo 5 once right around the same time an announcement was made that the game was delayed.
Then of course there was the PS3 Slim in a flea market.

Damn. I don't exactly dislike the design, in fact, I do kind of like it, but that's mostly looking at the design all on its own. As a console... well, it doesn't really look like one? From the top, anyway. Looks more like a TV box of sorts, or whatever.
I like the light bar, but the one that's on the touch pad is just weird as fuck.

Sure. But Sony is trying to address different market segments. This redesign is for more price sensitive gamers. If $350 was too expensive for you to buy a PS4 it's highly unlikely you have a 4K TV or expensive headphones. This thing is for people who will be happy to plug earbuds into the controller or use a soundbar for which 2-channel audio passed through their TV is fine.
This is also not a device for upgraders. Anyone who has a PS4 now does not need this.
People with more expensive tastes and who are looking for an actual upgrade should wait and see what the Neo will offer them.
Haha what slim war, OG PS4 is still slimmer than the Xbox 1 S!

How is telling someone that a product is coming out a year later than the product you just announced even remotely similar to announcing a revision of a product and a premium product that'll be released a few months later? The sales impact is different. The time gap is much smaller. But keep on with the console wars

Because this will be their new low-end budget model and the Neo will be the new sleek looking high-end model with all the bells and whistles.
Today, in Canada, a stand-alone PS4 costs more ($429) than it did the day it released ($399). I know it is due to exchange rate, obviously... but holy fuck.

I'd guess $249. I think Sony is going to market this as the family-friendly budget model. It doesn't have 4K playback or HDR so I can't see it being the same price as the One S.

It is well documented that it takes Sony 3 weeks to manufacture an electronics item and have it on store shelves. This is why everyone is saying the slim is coming out in 3 weeks. We would expect Neo to leak in mid September, but they're doing the event in early Sept for a reason, that being, they want to be ahead of the retail units for exactly the reason why the slim leaked.
I expect retail Neo boxes to being being sent into the wild around Oct 22nd.
Any recommended site to read up on audio? Tits my current weakness. All ive used is optical, mainly for my Astros,but when I do move towards an actual setup, I'd like to know what I'm looking for.

I think that Somy would have a good move to make at $249. That said if they care more about profits vs increasing username we will see $299 with perhaps $249 BF deals (or $279 with games and gift card).
NEO is going to be $399 or $449. They could price it a bit higher to get all the early buyers at higher margin and drop to $399 say next Feb.
