I can already see the options in regards to bundles for the Holidays:
1. PS4 Slim standalone at $249
2. PS4 Slim + Uncharted 4 at $299
3. PS4 Neo standalone at $399
4. PS4 Neo + Final Fantasy XV at $449
Sony will print money.
I like the idea of a 449 Neo+game but I think it won't be FFXV.
Let's speculate a bit. So far we have:
1- Rumors floating around that the manufacturing of the Neo has just started while that of the slim started two months ago. Implying
Neo will be out circa two months after the slim.
2- Strong evidence that the slim entered the distribution channels and will be out the same day as the Playsation meeting or shortly thereafter. Slim will be out by mid of September putting the
Neo around mid of November.
3- Sony realizes it has its biggest franchise ever out the 15th of November:
Gran Turismo Sport and starts to think at putting together a Neo+GT bundle. After all, GT always was a graphical showcase for PlayStation consoles. While initial showing of GT was poorly received because gamers have been spoiled by a racing game running on the same hardware at half the framerate; Yamauchi's glory is restored in a vengeful trailer of GT running on Neo causing irreparable damage to a large number of jaws around the world.
4- To ensure that sales of the new GT follow a healthier trajectory than GT6 (worst selling mainline entry, including GT on psp), Sony now very seriously think about revealing a Neo+GT bundle for pre-order. Limited supplies and out of stock messages will get people to freak out and by stuff they might never consider had they had their full mental capacities. GT reaches a new audience. Well that's nice since they've been emphasizing accessibility for this entry from the get go.
5- As final touches are made on to the public announcement, a marketing intern chimes in, and demonstrates in a beautifully eloquent and remarkably well backed presentation how replacing the intended Neo+GT bundle with a Neo+COD bundle will roughly increase revenue by 1000%.
6- Neo+COD bundle is announced on the playstation blog the same day at an unusually late time.
