I don't get this line of thinking... something like an Amber Alert or a weather warning is important, and can save lives. Who cares if it goes off in a space when it shouldn't? Everyone else's phone is going to go off too...
I actually haven't gotten it. I've gotten alerts before for amber/silver alerts and weather advisories, so IDK why this alert has yet to buzz on my phone.

It makes me sigh to no end when clearly liberal and fairly sane people on the left simply get met with the "Islamophobic" tag, or worse, racist, when criticising an ideology because people want them shutdown and tarred as quickly as possible. It's insane. It also unfortunately completely and utterly destroys the more central or left public discourse which means far right wing fuckers who genuinely aren't sane can fill the void. When the left cares more about demonising say Sam Harris or Bill Maher in the wake of a fucking attack where innocent citizens get injured because they slammed Islamic doctrine and/or simply stated a fact, a Muslim terrorist has done this attack, and these look like the reasons why (usually taking something in the Koran literally), it is unbelievable.
I get utterly depressed and dismayed that we live in a world where actual victims of violence, some of whom die, get rushed passed so quickly to play virtue signaling and making sure someone's religious feelings don't get hurt. All while the far right fills the public discussion discourse and right wing fanatics actually inflict racist acts on innocents. The left, so far up its own arse of criticising itself, it comes away from horrific acts of violence like this more intent on winning inner political fighting and language/ideology policing. People on the left need to get a fucking grip and realise part of the reason an assholes like Trump is running rampant is because of how utterly bad the left is failing. Your own citizens are getting killed and quick, we better make sure no one criticises religious doctrine or says the words Islam, Islamic or Muslim.

Post 9/11 there were many laws signed to control the sale and distribution of bomb making ingredients. It limits a lot of damage domestically.
Extremists wants nothing more than to see a Trump presidency. Not only would it be devastating for USA as a nation, but the added discrimination will help dragging more people towards radicalism. I don't think the guy doing this right before the election gives a shit that regular muslims now will experience a lot more hate and attacks while it most likely will give Trump a big boost in votes as well.

It's more about recognizing the very real dangers in 'calling a spade a spade' as critics would have it. The victims aren't rushed past. We need to find the people responsible for doing this, right now. We don't need people jumping everyone who looks muslim. We don't need to create a panic. Those things don't help prevent more victims.

Sane people don't do that. Sane people want to put those responsible behind bars and be able to also discuss issues with Islamic doctrine at the same time. Sane people are largely shut down from doing that as many of their fellow leftists believe you cannot do both of those things interchangeably. Of course you can. We do it with every other religion.
The left are always quick to attack the Conservative Christians and their anti LGBT stances and attempts to pass laws in America of discrimination. It's about time we are able to have open discourse about Islamic doctrine and its discrimination, usually largely against women. LGBT too though.

Homegrown terror is scary. These people reach a low point and become increasingly inspired by prior terrorist attacks, state their intent to carry one out to ISIS despite having no prior connection, and then go do it. You can't go to war to stop that. It's purely intelligence. As long as you're willing to cause harm, all you have to do is send your message to some dark corner of the world and carry out your objective.

I was in Brooklyn and got it.
What I heard was that it wasn't a controlled explosion, in the sense that they were not trying to blow it up on purpose. But that not all of the explosives in the bag detonated.
