It is a problem because the police were deer in headlights due to "Islamophobia". I don't know how you or others on here cannot see that the race to claim "Islamophobia" is literally causing people to be so scared to tackle extremism it can produce a disgusting situation such as Rotherham. The fear of being tarred a bigot/racist unjustly ends up paralyzing even law enforcement as let us be honest, who wants their career and public/private life completely destroyed by a mass of "Islamophobia" chants?
Well, Islamaphobia is a real issue so of course the Police need to err on the side of caution, but i dont see its application used in Rotheram case, it believe it was most down to racism and dealing with a minority community. Approaching a group of deplorable individuals in the context of rape crime it'd be hard to make 'Islamaphobia' stick with local communities, the Police have a good relationship with Muslim leaders and Mosques. Infact working with Muslims is the only way to make any progress - targeting and spreading misinformation about their motives and their religion is just going to create an even bigger wedge and get in the way of progress.
