I don't understand why this is what people think will stop him. Surely his views on race, foreign policy, war etc is much worse than this.
If people supported him with all of that why is some groping and bragging his downfall? It's bad but not nearly as bad as running America with those ideologies.
I'm a Brit so just find it puzzling.
As a commentator pointed out yesterday, most of these key Republicans and a lot of Republicans don't know many or indeed any Mexicans, any Hispanics, LGBTQ people, black people, etc. But everyone, absolutely everyone knows a woman. Be out their mother, sister, wife, daughter etc.
This time Trump's comments regarded sexually assaulting women, rather than his previous comments about women, which many supporters would have written off as 'uncomfortable', or 'regrettable', or 'just banter'. In other words these comments regarding women are on another level, that even they see as abhorrent.
This will therefore lose Trump lots of voters, both those in his support base and those undecided, opinion makers and key Republican figures, in an election were he is already suffering with key demographics.
