I'm glad he's banned now, but it happened two hours after he posted it (when most bans for racism, including at least one documented case in this thread, are dealt with immediately), and a lot of people had quoted it (so it doesn't seem like it just got "lost in the shuffle" of the thread, because it kept popping up).

Thank you for doing the deed, Lionel, but I find it hard to believe you were the first mod that saw the post. I'm sure almost every mod is invested in this election and following this thread closely, and it seems like as a rule racial hate speech against whites rarely get taken care of unless members first make noise about it.

This has been bothering me for a while on GAF - I'm one thousand percent for banning racists/homophobes/islamaphobes, but allowing racist comments for a majority group and hand-waving it away as no big deal is incredibly disheartening to see.

I hope it changes soon, because I really don't want to leave GAF - but the amount of anti-white sentiment that has gone unchecked here this election cycle has been a gigantic bummer.

Hard to believe that was missed, especially when the poster who sarcastically said "fuck brown people" was banned almost immediately.

It's fucking adorable how everybody is going "Bernie bernie bernie!" now after, you know, he FUCKING GOT LESS VOTES BY A LARGE MARGIN IN THE PRIMARY WHICH IS WHY HE LOST.

But hey you know whatever that's just nothing I guess.

You do realize that Hillary also won the popular vote in the 2008 primaries too, right?

Hillary only appeals to establishment Democrats, because she literally is one of them. Nationally, she's unlikeable and unelectable, that's just the truth.

Bernie, Biden, Michelle, Warren, whoever would all have probably won tonight. Trump handed the election to Hillary on a silver platter and she still lost it.

Cannot believe this. An an outsider in the UK, I was hopeful for Clinton...but this is scary. Been awake since 3:30am and couldn't go back to sleep. I'm scared for the world.

Is it racist when the overwhelming majority of a race voted for him? Gosh, the next four years is going to be this isn't it? "Don't hurt while people's feelings", those poor straight white men who won't be impacted by this election in the slightest. Us minorities should respect them and be nice to them, we shouldn't condone them for voting for a leader who could undo the years of progress we've been fighting for..

Okay, so racism is fine. Violence? Your argument doesn't draw lines. It eliminates them and destroys agency.

It is patently wrong.

Serious question people smarter than me:

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois through my husbands work. I don't work currently because of my disability. He got the insurance four months ago.

I've had lupus for three years. Am I going to be dropped if the ACA is repealed and the preexisting condition clause is revoked? Cause if so, I'll have to discontinue all treatment in order to continue to feed and clothe my family. Which means I'll eventually die.

Reassure me, please. I'm still fucked as a Navajo that looks Mexican, but I'll be double fucked with this.

:(( That's so terrible. I'm sorry :(

We can only hope that the republicans will feel some political pressure in the face of taking a bunch of shit away from a bunch of people who already have it and it won't be quite as simple as everything being discontinued without anything to replace it or without the really popular parts being preserved.

Trump is ahead 30k in PA at 97% reporting in.

Obamacare is done
Climate change legislation is done
The senate, house and SCOTUS will all be controlled by modern tea party supporting republicans

This is the most hellish political scenario I could imagine for this country. A rapist is about to reach the highest office in the land. I blame white republican voters, the DNC, Hillary and Debbie.

yeah

like, hellish to where i'm almost fucking longing for the days of GWB

i'm terrified and depressed

What happened to us Gaf? how is it possible that Trump is about to be our president.

GAF is in a huge bubble, anyone who disagrees with the very liberal progressive agenda learns quickly to not post in political threads if they want to keep their account. So it creates a huge bubble where everyone thinks the rest of the country thinks the same way.

What a rollercoaster ride... dawn of an era.

Sociological explanations aside, I think this will be one of the major historical milestones of our time.

We had our warnings. A comparable situation happened in my country, Argentina, last year. That, and Brexit, and the peace in Colombia...

I'm in tears. How can I feel safe as POC? What about my niece? What about my family? It's not a fucking game. I'm crying my eyes out.

I think it varied state by state, but I was able to get on my wife's employer-provided insurance with a preexisting condition/disability. That's why we got married in fact, and that was a thing that happened fairly often before the ACA was passed.

You might want to look into what the law said in your state before the ACA was passed. But even if it is repealed we don't know how it would actually play out. Hang in there.

Wonder what are the chances of Trump actually building that wall are. I feel like if it actually happens, I'm gonna laugh uncontrollably just to keep from crying.
Prediction: He'll start it, and North Korea style, it'll sit unfinished for decades, a monument to his hideousness :p

Actually, looking at the detailed PA picture on the NYT map, it seems most of those 2% missing votes are from D counties. I guess they can easily find some 50k difference there.
