FFXV copies out in the wild (street date broken in Peru, possibly elsewhere)

Yeah, no chance there tbh. But I would be ecstatic if they changed date for tuesday lol though I've never seen something like that before

It's happened before where games have been released early, with publishers just saying "fuck it", and got rid of the street date limitations. Can't recall any off the top of my head. Would be wishful thinking, though.

Well, it makes sense. Pokémon is the biggest JRPG series so it's a good thing that FF XV is releasing almos 2 weeks laters.

It might be more well known outside of the gaming world, yes.

Do I think people would by pokemon for 3ds over FFXV for ps4? Heeeeeeellllllll no. Definitely not to the point where square enix would move out of the way specifically bc of that.

I mean, I know many people that are buying both actually, but Pokémon has much more mass appeal. I can see people ignoring FF XV even now that it's releasing after Pokémon let alone if it was at the same week.

The Final Fantasy franchise is at roughly 115 million sold, the Pokemon franchise is at over 200 million sold. VII is the only title in the series that comes even close to mainline Pokemon numbers, with a much longer tail of things like digital sales. Pokemon is much bigger, period.

Maybe there's not a lot of cross pollination between fanbases, but more people out there are buying the 3DS for Pokemon than a console for XV, there's no doubt about that.

The spoiler thread is moving fast now. People are finally posting real spoilers there?

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

Aren't I not supposed to say in this thread?

Maybe it's better to say if the game is good or bad.

How are reactions spoilers? People have different opinions on what's good or bad. If you're letting other posters set expectations isn't that kind of on you?

That said Verendus did show that people can't help but give in...

Please no. Reactions to spoilers set expectations just like actual spoilers would.
Good point. I don't want reaction to any particular part of the game. I just want to know if people are overall happy with the game.

Did combat feel satisfying beginning to end? A good sense of progression?

It's like the movie previews we see all the time. Twitter reactions. I think it's fine but a spoiler tag doesn't hurt either.

What a weird, oddly-specific rule.

I don't really see how asking 'in general are people satisfied with the game' sets an expectation in the same regards that a spoiler would.

all reactions should be taken with a pinch of salt anyway. the ending has literally just played out and this series brings out the hyperbole in people.

Whoever has managed to complete it already, I hope they have a decent play time! Better not be like 13 hours lol.

Although I guess playing on easy if there is a difficulty selector and charging the main storyline could wrap it up quite quickly.

I think I've already read there is a difficulty setting. Wish there wasn't, I prefer it when devs just set the difficulty pace.

Thank God for the extension that block selected links. I just clicked in the spoiler thread by accident. Phew.

That's something I'd like to know as well. How many hours it took to complete the game.

I don't think it takes that much empathy to realise that having a group of people hating on a certain aspect of a game would change your attitude towards it going in.

I don't think it's too much to ask to go in to a game without pre-determined expectations tainting the experience. I don't want to go in to the ending thinking "Oh, well this is going to suck" I want to go in to it thinking "Oh man, what's going to happen?"

Those are expectations you're setting for yourself by letting a very small pool of people influence you. This thread is already dealing with game impressions, if the opinions of one or two people affect you to that extent then you should probably be going completely dark on the game.

Asking, in general, again, not even specific enough to know what they would be 'hating' on, but rather if the general mood of the thread was happy or not isn't going to color anyone but the most easily swayed by public opinion's experience.

@JeffZero:
Sorry to hear about it.
Hope that FFXV and all the discussion about it helps a bit making you feel better.

<3 Thanks, you two! And yeah, Yappa, it's the little things in life like favorite fandoms that can really help us through some rough times. So long as we seek help and find inner peace when life hands us those proverbial lemons, I don't think there's ever anything wrong with wanting to get lost in our lovely made-up worlds like FF and such for a while, too. :D

Ah the wonders of NeoGAF! You never what you will find!

I love this site.

I am tellin' ya.

Most don't know how they feel because they have no idea what happened. Some love it some like it. Be they had no clue what was being said and the person playing skipped like 3 scenes.

Hoping my Collectors Edition from the Square store actually comes on release day. Would be the ultimate slap in the face for people that have paid $300 for the thing.

That makes sense. Watching FF VII, VIII, X, XII and XIII ending without any context is pointless.

Edit: Actually XIII ending doesn't make any sense even with context but whatever lol

That definitely makes sense. And is a lot less flimsy than 'if some random nobody on the internet thinks combat sucks that must mean it sucks.'

Looks like we've reached the point of no return with spoilers. Time to lay low and avoid the spoiler thread like my life depends on it.

If it mattered so little why would anyone need to ask?

It's a little hypocritical to both deny that it should affect someone's opinion, whilst asking it to inform your own, no?

I'm wondering this myself. Has anyone ordered express shipment from the SE store before? If so, did their item arrive on launch day? Before? After?
