Zack Synder war on comics continues, Jesse Eisenberg to return in justice League

I thought that casting was a joke when I first heard it, people were saying give it a chance when trailers came out, and then it was still terrible in the movie. I can tell if I'm going to like a certain performance from trailers and I'm baffled still why he was chosen out of all people to play Lex.

People say that Snyder is a comic fan, but I don't know. I don't read a whole lot compared to some of y'all, but to me from what I'm used to in the DCAU and the animated movies Lex always came off as a dude with some suaveness and swagger to him with a little crazy under the surface and what I saw in Batman v. Superman was none of that. That shit was bad. I am not looking forward to his return.

Also what's with some people saying he's not really Lex Luthor? Some dude said, "No he wasn't Lex, he was Lex Jr.".

Oh good, I was torn on whether or not to see this, but now my decision is made for me - nope.

Guess I'll have to wait ten years for them to reboot this mess after all.

I just watched bvs again for the second time outside the theater because it went up on hbo recently. During my second viewing I realized how horrible of a portrayal this is of lex. Very very poorly casted and acted IMO.

I watched him in American Ultra and all I could think was, he would be a great Joker in the DC Universe. Leto could have been a good Lex if you swap for the sake of it.

I still think it's funny that they tried to modernize lex Luthor by making him some kind of millennial entrepreneur and then the real person that luthor has been based on for the last 30 years became president

I mean, I can imagine Trump sinking the entire California coast to make a quick buck off of a real estate scheme, yeah.

I still don't know what he his motivation is.
I think he might've gotten around to explaining it at that dinner party, if he hadn't become so self-conscious when everyone was staring at him because he was starting and stopping his speech and rambling on like a f*cking lunatic.

This is one of the (many) weird cuts from the theatrical cut. He was playing for an insanity defense and Batman arranged for him to go to Arkham.

He was trash in BvS, bit it's possible he might reign that shit in and put in a semi decent performance.

A few years in jail can change anyone...

He's more complex than the standard villain. His motivation isn't revealed outright, nor is it black and white. He's got daddy issues and hates Superman's godlike status and physical power over him.

Lex wants to expose Superman and turn the world against him. He wants to destroy Superman's entire being, both his rep and physically... But not really, because his biggest fantasy is to gain control over him somehow and be his superior. That scene where he brings Clark to his knees is his proudest moment.

Basically... His lust for destroying Superman, fucking with his head, and controlling him all conflict with each other. He goes back and forth on what he's trying to do. He's smart but he's also a mess, which confuses people about what he actually wants.

Eisenberg gets killed like a little bitch in the first 5 minutes.
We find out that he was actually Lex Luthor Jr and he was adopted.
Dwayne Johnson steps in as the real Luthor. With long curly red hair. Plus Michael Ironside dubs his voice for some reason. And Mercy is still alive.

DCCU redeemed.

Good. He was one of the best comic movie villains outside of Heath Ledger's Joker.

Certainly better than any of the trash villains in Marvel movies.
