Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
Because a PS4 weighs 5 times more than a Switch and doesn't fit in your pocket? Are you serious with this?

I'm out guys. We'll see what happens with the Switch, but don't be surprised when it sees more success than you give it credit for.

The Switch does not fit in your pocket.

No. As a Nintendo fan I don't like the system itself. I was hoping for a machine that at least could be a really good handheld but it fails at that with the incompetent battery it has.

For me now it's a really bad console AND handheld.

As far as PS4/XB1 owners, I can see Switch as an extremely appealing alternative platform to own.

It's region free. Consider the amount of niche or obscure 3DS games that are available in Japan. Switch will have a similar thing going on, and there's a lot of appeal to having easy access to those games.

Also, the Switch differentiates itself from the other platforms, so it will be a fresh experience. That's appealing to everyone- people who are intimidated by PS4/XB1 and are more comfortable with a friendlier Nintendo platform as well as people who already have a PS4/XB1.

Why is "fresh experience " always a fall back. I want a GOOD experience. I want a complete experience.
What you are saying sounds like some sales pitch for the Wii and the wiiU and now the Switch but it sounds like something said when there is nothing tangible to point to imo

Ok then, let's give it three months from launch. What's your prediction for sales worldwide by the end of June if you think it'll be flying off the shelves? The Wii U managed around 3.45 million.
It will do at least three times better than the Wii U.

Does the Switch have GPS? A three hour or so battery life will be killed rather quickly by people leaving this thing on trying to find Pokemon I would think.
3-6 hour depending on game* and I'm sure the Switch will act as a Pokestop or Gym rather than to catch Pokémon.

The Switch does not fit in your pocket.
Neither does a 3DS XL

What kind of pants are you wearing that the Switch comfortably fits in them?

No, too expensive so it's out of impulse buy range, too niche as it's too similar to the wii u so the uninformed won't care and probably games thin on the ground. I can see the Ps pro taking a price cut leading up to the Scorpio launch bringing it down to around the same price as the switch. The switch will not see many price cuts just like the wii u as it uses costly tech. I just wish Nintendo would just go back to the cube days and just make a games console with no gimmicks

Are you sure you want to go with that? Because you're effectively saying it'll double the Wii numbers by that point...

The reaction to the Switch so far reminds me of the Vita. Everyone seemed to be hyped about it when it first announced, then when the cost and details came out, everyone seemed to turn sour towards it. At least Nintendo will be all-in on the Switch and not give up on it so quickly like Sony did the Vita. I think it'll do maybe slightly better than the Wii U only because their software lineup will be a combination of their console and portable lineup. I think it's mostly DOA to anyone but hardcore Nintendo fans and they're in for a rough first year. They can maybe turn things around a bit if the software lineup looks more appealing and they do a price drop.

People don't care about gimmicks (for long) and all this expensive tech in the controllers probably driving up costs is going to bite them in the ass. Except with the Wii controller and games like Wii Sports, Nintendo has done a terrible job of utilizing their own gimmicks. Sometimes they unnecessarily force gimmicky controls into games like Star Fox Zero or Donkey Kong Country Returns without the option to play with a normal controller. Expect more of the same. They should have just gone with simple joy-con controllers that they could sell for $15 each and a pro controller for $40-$50.

It's laughable that Nintendo thinks they can get people to pay for online when they've never proven they can build a decent online infrastructure before. Watch them charge $60/year too.

Improvement on GameCube is leading the poll? Oh GAF, my sweet summer child...

My prediction: Switch is Ouya level

With that logic why would anyone buy any game console ever? There's a huge market of people who bought a Wii, never got another console, and are now ready for Wii 2. That's where Switch comes in.

Not confirmed.

What dos the Switch have that brought the wii crowd in? The motion fad is dead, there is no wi-sports lightning in a bottle, come on. The casuals who bought wii are playing on their phones/ipads.

You just said you need the dock as well.

So in your "it is amazing scenario" you are fitting the switch, four controllers, four wheels, the dock, the cables and the projector into your pants.

John Cena couldn't pull that one off.

Despite being personally underwhelmed with the lineup and the pricing, I think it's going to be massive sales wise.

Nintendo has brand power that I think some on GAF even forget.

Nintendo will probably undership for launch and afterwards but it'll be one of the hottest holiday items for Fall 2017.

With inevitable revisions the Switch will reach Wii levels of success in terms of sales.

'Brand power' couldn't save the GameCube or WiiU - it's not some magic currency. Price and sentiment matter and yesterday's reveal - if the Internet buzz is any indication - did more harm than good.

What brand power? The wii-u/gamecube/N64 didn't get much help from said brand power. It is not 1990, Nintendo has a limited appeal brand power wise these days,

As it's technically also the new handheld from Nintendo I can see it having some level of success long term. But I think, initially, it won't do too well. The lineup seems sparse and purposefully spread out across the year to avoid a drought and the price is absolutely ridiculous (speaking from an Australian perspective). I certainly won't be getting one at or around launch, which is unusual for me for a Nintendk console and unprecedented for a Nintendo handheld.

The Wii U was based on archaic impossible to develop for archecture. The Switch already has a swath of third party developers confirmed with more on the way. Just because it's not a PS4 port doesn't mean the game doesn't exist. Switch will get FIFA and NBA2K confirmed. People will have a blast playing them. People who don't give a crap about a meager spec bump. People who don't own a tablet, and don't own a modern gaming console and want to buy something that can do both.

Who are these people that don't own a tablet or a PS3/360? And why would they want a Switch which isn't a good replacement for either product? It doesn't have any of the features or apps that people expect from a tablet and it doesn't have anywhere near the game library of the PS/XB consoles.

If someone wanted to play last-gen versions of FIFA or NBA2K they could buy a pre-owned 360 at Gamestop for $59 bucks. I am not seeing the value proposition for Switch.

It will providing they get plenty of good games out this time, so lot's of people also buy it as a secondary console. Me thinks.

Not the best start though lol, hopefully they have a good E3.

GAF trashed the Wii launch and Wii reveal. Went nuts for WiiU.

Going by GAF it should be massive.
The Wii was cheaper, came with a pack in game which was sort of intriguing at the time utilizing motion controls which was revolutionary at the time, free online, etc.

This portable isn't revolutionary and will be compared to tablets and home consoles no matter what. Its functionality won't fully please both sets of fanbases IMO. There's a niche few who'll like it but that blue ocean they're aiming for are already equipped with a ton of cheap tablets that can do many things; social media and video streaming apps, and free games.

I wish we had a poll here.

If you don't see the Switch as a clearly huge upgrade to the PS3/360 I don't know what to tell you. Maybe watch the presentation again.

You might want to drop out of the prediction game, as even if the Switch is a massive flop so huge that it makes the Wii U look like the DS, it'll outsell the Ouya within its first hour on the market.

You think that tripling the Wii U is equal to the Wii? I thought that the Wii sold over 100 million and the Wii U is under 20 million.

3 x 20 = 60

2 x 100 = 200

200 =/= 60

Tripling Wii U would be double Wii if the Wii U sold 30 million and the Wii only sold 50 million. Personally of the people that I know that have ever owned a console about 90% of them owned a Wii at one time. With the Wii U it is less than 10% and I live and work in Nintendo town. (It's also Microsoft town too.)

Just realized that you were talking about the launch window not lifetime sales.

This is absolutely not guaranteed. Nothing points towards it in reality. Nintendo hasn't announced or shown anything. Neither did Level 5 and Capcom. Extremely worrying.

In terms of sheer power it's not. It's marginally better than Wii U, which wasn't all that much more powerful than a ps3 in the first place. I'd say it's closer to a ps3 than a ps4 in power

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I think it will do Xbox One numbers when all is said and done.

I am buying one.

The "WiiU tier" predictions might be selling this short. It's purely anecdotal, but I hear regular people (read: non-gamers, casuals) talking about Switch with a level of awareness and excitement they never had for WiiU. Most of them still don't know what a WiiU is, but they already understand the central gimmick and appeal of the Switch.

Not quite Wii levels of success, but it will come close. People are underestimating the power of local multiplayer.

To the shutins shouting Nintendoomed they'll see it as a failure, but only because Uncharted isn't on it.

To the rest of people who bought a Wii, skipped the Wii U, and remained interested in Nintendo, they'll see people playing in the open and immediately want a Switch.

Not sure if the Uncharted comment is a swipe at Sony fans, but it won't be a failure because Uncharted isn't on it, it will be a failure because the latest FIFA, Battlefield, Titanfall, COD, NBA, GTA, RDR2 etc etc etc isnt on it.

If you want to have a regular discussion about this, we can, but I'm not going to deal with hyperbole. Mario Kart and Splatoon 2 will sell shitloads of units. The E3 Smash hype will also move tons of units.

Want to have regular discussion, not hyperbolic discussion. But then says "Mario Kart and Splatoon 2 will sell shitloads"

concrete.
