Ultra Street Fighter II Price/Release date announced: $40, May 26th

Where do people get the notion that this is a port of HDR? It's rebalancing the game with new sprites, new UI and a new matchmaking system.

People are posting out of ignorance and prejudging based on very little information on an incomplete game that none of them have played. Such is neogaf.

But, really, I don't think another SF2 title is selling very much no matter the price point. It's a calculated move aimed at a market that would buy the game no matter the price. Obviously Capcom thinks they'll make more money aiming at that market than making it cheaper for the random people it might attract that way.

I think it'll sell fine. Its a popular series and it'll be one of the cheapest Switch games at retail. Most people won't even know another HD version was cheaper elsewhere.

Why would you feel bad? The people who are paying the $40 obviously think the game is worth $40...myself included. If you don't, that's great. Wait for a price drop or don't buy the game at all.

Considering how cheap Street Fighter got over the years on the 3DS, unless you have a big itch to play this game ASAP, you're best off waiting a bit.

It's a rebalancing of ST with HDR sprites. There are no new sprites.

Are there zero new sprites? There obviously aren't many, but I'm wondering if there might be a couple. We know Evil Ryu and Violent Ken's moves already. Evil Ryu has Senpuu Kyaku, I think there's another new command normal or between the two that I'm forgetting. Violent Ken has Rasetsu Kyaku (dash special).

I'm not trying to slam the game I just don't feel it's worth $40 from what I know about the game so far. I've been burned by Capcom too many times to buy their games day 1. I hope for the best and plan for the worst.

Those are all existing animations.

I haven't gotten to see all the new animations, but in past 2D games, Ryu's hopkick was usually just his neutral j.hk lol.

I saw Ken's dash & couldn't figure out where that was recycled from (if it was).

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
$40 for a 8-9 year old port of a game that launched at $15 that it's actually a port/remake of a 20 year old game? No thanks Capcom I will wait until this drops to $20 or below.

Show me the new sprites. Besides new UI and this possible new matchmaking system (and the unnecessary Ryu/Ken 2.0 and the gimmicky first person hadouken mode), it's the same game.

$40 for Street Fighter II. Niiiiiiiiiiice.

I think you're confusing this with Street Fighter IV. It's Street Fighter II. You know, from the early 90's.
No, I'm talking about SFII TURBO HD on PS3 which is what this is but with two more characters.

Are there features that haven't been mentioned yet that could make the $40 price tag worth it in Capcom's eyes? I thought there was a rumor about a first person mode?

Otherwise, what an incredibly strange decision on their part.

If they'd have done the unthinkable and made some awesome new 2D characters for this (4 would have done), and gotten them to work and work well in a game which has held up spectacularly for over 20 years, I'd be in, day one, no problem.

As it is, I'll wait to hear more about system changes and inevitable price drops.

There is a first person mode, unfortunately even as a bonus it looks terrible.

I think Capcom is in for a rude awakening.

What is worrying is they'll probably use this as a benchmark to "justify" developing other games for Switch or not. Makes me wonder if they're intentionally sabotaging themselves :p
Eh, we'll see what happens with Monster Hunter 5.

... assuming that doesn't end up being a 3DS title anyway. Or jump to PS4/XB1 alone somehow.

Not really, early adopters are easy targets for stuff like this.

It will probably do well, especially compared to the peanuts it cost Capcom to make.

Not rumors -- it's well known and there are videos of it. Check youtube.

It looks bad, and doesn't seem like it plays very well either.
