I may be the only person who really loved the The Hand Plot.
I'm actually only ever got to episode 3 of Luke Cage but this thread is making me want to finish it just to see what all the fuss is about.
This is what I find interesting about all of this, everyone has such wildly varying opinions about these shows. Like these articles frequently mention Luke Cage in positive way when I thought it was largely terrible. And Elektra/the Hand from Daredevil Season 2, generally regarded as being on the weaker end(if not weakest all told) was my favorite thing any of the Netflix shows have done.
So maybe I'll like Iron Fist. Or I'm in the bargaining stage.

When you pour water into a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water into a toilet bowl, it becomes the toilet, and you need to flush.

The characters, from Joy, Ward and Danny, come across as incredibly stilted and badly written. Almost everyone, bar Danny in at least the first couple of episodes, is an immensely unlikeable douchebag, with nothing to lend them any dimensionality in the least. The writing and dialogue is not natural or flowing, and the character motivations behind their decisions can be baffling even at the best of times.

The way I see it, shit must be really wry for critics to finally start blasting a Marvel/Netflix product, specially after all the lauding of horribly flawed (if not downright rotten) series like JJ, Daredevil and Luke Cage.
Welp, anybody who was a little put off by the show being run by Scott Buck have now had their worst fears confirmed. I don't get it, Marvel usually does a good job with who they get to work on and be in their shows, why the fuck would they get the guy who ruined Dexter?!!!
Same showrunner, Scott Buck, too.
I think Luke Cage's second half flaws are really exaggerated by how great the first half is. Once Diamondback enters, it all falls apart.
The shadow was already casted over this show the second they announced Rand was gonna be a white guy. No good word of mouth has ever been said throughout it's production.
So this probably means that Iron Fist will not be getting a season 2...at most probably a Heroes for Hire series featuring Iron Fist?

I really hate this idea some people throw around that any issues they have with the Netflix shows are that it's 13 episodes instead of 10. It's a lazy fix.
Agents of SHIELD is 22 episodes and has knocked out of the damn park with fantastic pacing all season, with only a few episodes left. Season 2 was similar. There is no reason for a 13 episode show to have pacing issues.

The one thing about the Luke Cage show that I would consider great is Cottonmouth and that's 90% Mahershala Ali doing his best to lift the material up from the gutter.
Personal opinion time: Luke Cage's first half is barely "good". It has some really fantastic things going like a terrific villain and a great setting, but it's still brought down by an awful lead who can't act for shit (what a let down after watching Colter in The Good Wife), boring AF politicking (which only serves to set up the awfulness of the second half), some greatly unneeded corny yet slow bits (that part about the collapsed building... good God) and some debatable development choices (while I enjoyed the actress, I'm really not a fan of show Misty). Oh, and everything Judas Bullet sucked ass.
The second part extirpates 90% of what made it a flawed yet decent watch and left us with nearly everything bad. And I actually liked Diamondback.

Shit must be really dire for it to be worse than Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.
Scott Buck, who did S6-S8 of Dexter is running Iron Fist so that should be uhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Every time I hear this show mentioned I'm like yes Iron Fist! - wait fuck Dexter's Scott Buck is running it. God I'm terrified.
What is the point of a heroes for hire show when both leads are blander than drywall
Also it prolly will get a second season if the streams are as consistent as the previous marvel shows
Cage really was the worst actor in his own show. Just a charisma-less cornball. Blaxploitation Cage would have been an improvement.
I'm still unsure if Mahershala and Dawson were too good for Luke Cage or way too much needed. I feel like their talents were wasted, but at the same time I could only power through the show because of them.
Cage was modern day blaxploitation.
I think Luke Cage is overall a good show based solely off of the performances given by everyone on the cast not named Mike Colter. The majority of the cast carries a subpar story with some pretty great stuff every now and then to be something more than the sum of its parts.
Shades, Misty, Cottonmouth, and Mariah are all played so well that it just barely makes up for the fact that Mike Colter has the charisma level of a wet brick.
Okay....old-school blaxploitation Cage with him running around screaming SWEET CHRISTMAS and drop-kicking people through walls. Would have at least been funny.

Every year I read AoS getting better, hitting it out of the park, being good finally.
Every year I go back and try to give it a fair chance. Every year I'm disappointed.
Will this finally be the year where people are right?

Too bad about IF though hope it has some saving graces cause I think the assessment is right I'll try to make it through because of defenders unless it's going to be incredibly bad.
