Daredevil is fun as heck but has serious flaws and Luke Cage's second half was garbo and yet, reviewers praised the hell out of both shows. For them to crap on Iron Fist like this you know it has to be utter garbage.
Critics were only given the first half of Luke Cage to review :p

I remember looking at the cast at first glance and being worried, every show beforehand had real acting heavyweights, looks likely that it would have had problems regardless but I still don't understand what happened in the casting department.

Out of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage the only one that I've completed (and enjoyed) was Jessica Jones. Something about the trailer I saw for Iron Fist grabbed me, so I'll probably still check it out. Worst comes to worse it goes into the same "I'll probably never finish this series" pile that Luke Cage and Daredevil are in.

Glad this happened. I haven't enjoyed a Netflix marvel show since the original daredevil despite trying. I feel like they took a lot of the camp out of the shows and replaced them with gritty bullshit, which has hurt them greatly.

Was this a rushed production or something?

Seems like getting Spiderman into MCU and Feige jumped hoops threw a wrench into Marvel TV production.
AoS benefits from this thankfully. Netlix and Inhumans? Not so much.

Iron Fist is actually their attempt at not being gritty ironically.

Disappointing, but I feel like everyone felt it coming. It's a shame, it could have been fun. I've enjoyed the Netflix shows well enough, but I almost wish they were a little less popular so they'd have some reason to try and fix their problems. As far as I've heard, they're big hits for Netflix though, so I don't expect a change. Oh well. Think I'm gonna wait for reactions on the whole season once it drops before I waste my time.

At least you can talk. Who are you?

Feige has very little to do with Marvel TV.

Some fuckery went down with Luke Cage and Iron Fist as the latter was supposed to air first, but when Colter got cast they quickly went into production.

What winning streak? After the first few eps of DD S2 it went to shit.

You're replying as if what you're saying is a popular consensus but that isn't the case, even in this very thread.

I couldn't disagree more. I think S2 was great.

I think it's really just that the only remaining people are the hardcore fans.

You would be wrong in that case. :p

It's pretty widely recognized as having a great season this year, critics included.

They also took forever to figure out a concept for IF. It was a tough concept to do right with the white savior origins and the TV budget restricting what settings they could use.

Should have just went with Shang-chi as the martial arts dude in the Defenders instead. James Bond style martial arts spy thriller would have been way easier to execute.

I'm 100% positive that people will like Iron Fist given how internet feelings tend to be opposite to normal people with these shows

- Daredevil S1 - One of the best if not, the best comic book show ever even with it's flaws.
- Daredevil S2 - WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?
- Jessica Jones - Amazing villain. Kilgrave is the only one that made this show worth watching for me. Needs better writing though.
- Luke Cage - First half was good, but the second was very bad. The season final fight was a DUMPSTER FIRE. Terrible, terrible acting. That's how bad it was.

Now Iron Fist is not looking good in previews?

Marvel, are you ok?

Pretty much, except for the Punisher parts of DD season 2 and the fight scenes. Those were excellent

Who's the showrunner for The Punisher series?

I loved parts of S2, but post Punisher mini-arc it really dropped apart cohesively.

Yeah, I just don't agree with that. I had liked the Hand arc. Not as much as the Punisher arc. That's hard to top as it's up there with the best of comic TV and movies. But still, I had a great time watching it and I think it's the only Netflix Marvel season that didn't have an episode or two where the pacing became an issue.

- Marvel: Netflix Orders 'Marvel's The Punisher' to Series.
Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle, introduced to fans earlier this year in the second season of the Netflix original series “Marvel’s Daredevil,” with Steve Lightfoot (“Hannibal”) serving as Executive Producer and Showrunner in addition to writing the series’ first two episodes.
His work on Hannibal is fantastic.

The way I see it, shit must be really wry for critics to finally start blasting a Marvel/Netflix product, specially after all the lauding of horribly flawed (if not downright rotten) series like JJ, Daredevil and Luke Cage.

Laugh all you want, but the Hand was already heads and shoulders above 80% of JJ's plot (and specially anything that had to do with her neighbours) and the utter garbage of Luke Cage's second arc. Lame as it was, Elektra wasn't nearly as bad as some people make her out to be.

I think what is going on is critics are finally starting to hold these shows to higher standards. Early on it was easy to forgive pacing issues because 'binge' watching was new territory, but it's been 4 years since House of Cards. I know for myself I've been slowly falling out of enjoyment of a lot of these streaming only shows. Even the Amazon Prime show with Bryan Cranston was severely flawed despite the cast.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that

Steve Lightfoot. He was a big part of Hannibal so I think it's in good hands.

I have no idea why Marvel doubled down on Buck. Then again, like someone mentioned, Iron Fist wasn't a project anybody was rushing to do. This was the redheaded stepchild of the street level shows

as someone who loved daredevil S1 , enjoyed daredevil S2 , Hated jessica jones , loved luke cage ( yes , even the second part ) , i'm not worried.

This is a necessary evil that it starts slow. It just needs to end great.

Personal opinion time: Luke Cage's first half is barely "good". It has some really fantastic things going like a terrific villain and a great setting, but it's still brought down by an awful lead who can't act for shit (what a let down after watching Colter in The Good Wife), boring AF politicking (which only serves to set up the awfulness of the second half), some greatly unneeded corny yet slow bits (that part about the collapsed building... good God) and some debatable development choices (while I enjoyed the actress, I'm really not a fan of show Misty). Oh, and everything Judas Bullet sucked ass.

The second part extirpates 90% of what made it a flawed yet decent watch and left us with nearly everything bad. And I actually liked Diamondback.

Pasty white Rand is not only canon but a required part of the character as far as I'm concerned, specially if they are going to explore his relationship with Cage
and Misty
. It's a bit of an stereotype, but I'm fine with that one.
Colter was fine. He embraced the cage.

First half was on par with DD season 1

Man, JJ and luke cage were trash.
This will probably kill netflix marvel for me unless they are going to do some amazing stuff in The Defenders.

Legion is killing it though.

Yeah, I just don't get reactions like this. I get having issues with the second half of each, I do. But why does everything have to be one extreme or the other? Trash, really?

Trash is... season 2 of Heroes. The final seasons of Dexter and True Blood.

DDS1 and JJ were both great in my opinion. DD was solid all around and JJ had some real high marks (along with some low mark, I'll admit).

But last year we had DDS2 which started strong and ended up bad - the Hand plot may be the worst thing Marvel Studios has ever put out - and Luke Cage was just mediocre straight on through.

So my enthusiasm for Iron Fist was real low even going in. Follow that up with a string of subpart trailers, lots of bad news on the production side, and now this... like, damn. And this is coming from a BIG fan of the character.

Just gotta hope Defenders is decent.

Looked like trash from the trailers, also felt like the same shit arrow did in its first season. Guess I'm skipping this one too.

Gonna stick with Daredevil and the defenders when that comes out.

Iron Fist is probably the character out of these 4 who is most suited to having an actual movie made. But it might have ended up too similar to Doctor Strange, maybe that's even why they're not focusing as much on the Mystical aspect in the show. Which is absolutely a mistake.

I mean if you didn't like Season 2, you're more than likely to not enjoy most of Season 3.

But Season 4 man, hitting it out the park. It's been so consistent, if you don't enjoy the first episode then you probably won't enjoy the rest.

Yea, AoS is definitively the best after this season.

Yeah, I think Danny's origin story has been cannibalized by a combo of Batman Begins, Iron Man, and Doctor Strange - which just came out less than six months ago. The writers were kind of screwed here: either deviate from the comics and invent a new background, or stick to what's a pretty well worn story now.

Iron Fist's world is too street level for Feige.
