That doesn't make sense for the concept of destiny. Your "complete" version is just a newer version with older, obsolete content. Destiny changes and adds relevant content throughout time. You might save $30 but your losing relevance on some of the content you're buying as well as lost time playing the game.

If I enjoyed destiny the best value would be buying the vanilla game at launch as long as I knew I was going to play it as much as I did destiny 1. If I'm just going to joyride through the single player content then waiting makes more sense, but Destiny is not a single player game at core.
I don't personally agree with the model of the latest dlc making the rest of the game irrelevant, but again (using d1 as an example), they'd miss out on maybe the first raid and set of light levels, but would still experience the same story and continue onto the next batch.

I don't seriously think that doing the same raids/nightfalls for 5 months* is "missing out" (and I played destiny all through TTK).

*Arbitrary number, I don't actually remember the length between expacs

And arguably, vanilla was the weakest point of the game — in my opinion, that is.

Hmm reading the OP I see mentions of expansion I and II for collectors editions etc.
The first two expansions in Destiny were awful, I totally felt ripped off.

I thought the plan was getting free post launch content?

I'll take The Dark Below and House of Wolves expansions over what the live team created in both Spring updates the last two years and in general would much prefer paid content if it amounts to being more significant/new/additional game modes rather than rehashed/updated existing content.

How is the Windows Store causing the death of any games? It's not like there's been some super appealing game to come out on the platform already.

I've played Gears 4, Forza Horizon 3, and Recore through the service. FH3 definitely performs the worst out of the bunch and Recore is definitely the worst game of the 3, but I would argue that XPA and Windows Store haven't been tested in the same way they would be with a game that is the caliber of Destiny 2.

The only reason we get Microsoft first party games on PC now is because of Windows Store and XPA. I would jump through similar hoops for Uncharted 4 and Horizon on PC as well.

Quantum Break comes into mind. Some of its performance and technical issues came from how Windows Store runs programs, e.g. exclusive fullscreen isn't something that is allowed. That caused performance drops for some users and there was nothing they could do about it.

Didn't it also result in QB having locked down .ini's etc. to users couldn't even do under the hood tweaking?

Do we have any sales figures for PC ports of QB (windows store), GoW 4 and Horizon 3? Could be interesting to see how well they sold, I know Twitch exposure for PC versions hasn't been great.

Only one we have any estimate for is Horizon 3 which is somewhere in the 200k range last I saw

Early VoG days and Y1 crucible was the tits, so I definitely disagree. But do whatever works for you.

If anything, Battle.net being rebranded as Blizzard should have put such theories to rest.

Yeah, had it stayed Battle.net and their relation with Activision I would have thought that might be an option as a game launcher but with the name change to Blizzard that would be a very awkward and unlikely solution.

For those interested in Destiny 2 your experience will differ greatly if you decide to pick up the game after the first year because you want to "wait for all of the content."

I think most people will agree the best thing about Destiny was being in the first year and exploring and finding all of the new stuff together. By waiting longer you will have a harder time finding people that will play with you in this very cooperative focused game. Though if money is tight, I get wanting to wait to catch the game on a sale, but I'm not sure if Destiny and the DLCs were discounted by year 2.

Keep in mind Bungie has also had plans of rebooting Marathon. Like, serious plans about it. If that's still happening maybe they want to roll it into their own launcher as well

Well actually humanity fucked the Traveler up first. The whole reason it's "dead" / damaged is because of us

Didn't it kill itself by protecting Last City from Darkness? I know humanity and Warminds had plans about attacking and crippling Traveler in case it tried leaving, but if my memory isn't failing me they never needed to execute those attacks.

I doubt you will ever get sales figures for Windows Store purchases for GoW4 and Horizon 3 - they will always be lumped in as "XPA purchases" with XBox to hide poor sales numbers.

I will grant you Quantum Break was a bit of a mess, but I also think they shipped it for Windows before they had a good footing on the whole idea of making games for both XBox and Windows simultaneously. It's another reason why they didn't set it up for XPA. There's also the question of just how much blame should lie at the feet of the developers (see also: Horizon 3), because Gears 4 is a stunning example of a well performing PC game with tons of options and tweaks.

I can't argue for PVP, as it wasn't my major focus. :/
Early VoG... Well, there were good days and bad days, for me 😩

No Taken King confirmed Traveler tried to make a run for it when Earth was attacked and Rasputin attacked the Traveler so it couldn't run from us

Speculation reading the synopsis but I'm starting to think the "in game" "explanation" for not carrying over D1 stuff is that it will all be destroyed in the beginning and you have to go out into space to basically rebuild the guardians and their equipment from whatever scraps might be scattered across the solar system from long dead guardians.

Holy fuck that's sounds epic.

So they're Metroiding you basically. Now you must go on a mysterious journey to grind for currency for Xur's arrival on Friday because he's not going to ever sell that stuff again after week 3.

Lmao @ all the people complaining about DLC in Destiny. Destiny, the game that is still relevant until this day and has a huge playerbase because they supported the game with barely enough content to satisfy even the player that didnt play the game that much. Rest assured, the people that like Destiny are craving for 100x the content Bungie can ever provide, a game like this having DLC is quite literally a necessity and people are gonna use it to complain about the industry "being greedy" lol.

This also is early promotional box art so it very well could be on Steam still.

That said Destiny will likely be moving millions of copies on PC and I don't see why Activision would want to give 30% of that money to Steam over their own launcher. So I lean towards a Bungie client personally

Perhaps they renamed the Blizzard launcher to re-purpose the Battle.net brand for other Activision games
like Destiny

So I remembered it wrong. I remember learning about lore that Warminds had created scenarios and plans to attack Traveler if it tried to bolt, but them / it executing attack plan is what I remembered wrong. Rasputin has gone little craycray since those days, but it preventing Traveler from leaving makes some sense as Warminds were created to lead defense of humanity and solar system. Rasputin forced Traveler to stay and fight, if it didn't kill Travel out right.

Basically The Traveler is a dick and he was gonna bail on Humans just as it did on Fallen if it wasn't for Rasputin.

They just changed the name from Battle.net to Blizzard... why would they start putting non-Blizzard games on it now?

I dunno but if I were Activision, I totally would do this.

Besides, it wouldn't be the first time Bungie and Blizzard have hooked up.

Or the app is renamed so Acti-Blizz has a uniform naming scheme for their PC launchers. Blizzard App for Blizzard games, Bungie App for Bungie games.

lmao the box art

white dude front and centre
also here's a girl cus diversity

if u squint you can see this black dude at the back too
Are you bitching that there is a woman and a black man on the box art? Is it sarcasm? I can't fucking tell anymore. The woman and black man are directly behind the dude in the center, maybe 15 percent smaller by distance. What am I reading. This is so much better than the traditional "white dude with a gun" box art we normally get; what could they do that wouldn't draw your ire?

Does anyone know if you can buy all D1 DLC for a single price digitally, the way you can get all of them in a hard copy for $60? I'm wondering if I'd be able to hold off on getting the expansions until they release new content for D2 just in case the game ends up disappointing

Bad translation. Guessing a solar blanket, what you see marathons runners using after a race in cold climates. Basically a metallic blanket.

Hmm, interesting. This and paracord being included makes me think the game will have some sort of survival focus. Those are both really popular items among outdoor survival types.

The cover is hideous. Sorry.

Yeah I kinda agree. It just seems a bit too generic bald space marine-y to me

If Destiny 2 is as content-starved as Destiny 1 was then it's a problem.

If that were the case why not keep a more neutral and well known name like Battle.net? The name change, to me, signifies that launcher is only for Blizzard games.

The best time I had with Destiny was vanilla and TTK. Buying the game late you miss out on all the starting areas being FULL of guardians and fresh exploration/secrets. It's the best part of the game for me. Plus missing out on the best raid of the game is a huge price to pay to me. Playing a fresh raid is a pure destiny experience.

I totally want to see how they handle hackers before touching the PC version.

Would hate for another Division situation.

Destiny handles everything server-side. That'll make it really hard to hack. Like near-impossible.

We never saw hacks on 360 or PS3, and those consoles have been broken into for quite some time.
