Trump addresses Charlottesville [Up: Trump's people force him to croak out "racism"]

That was some insincere bullshit. That was a fucking campaign speech. Anyone who accepts this speech needs to have their intelligence questioned.

He sure as fuck didn't lose the Alt-Right. They know the drill and know he's really on their side. "Globalists" made him say it.

For a man who is angry at everything and everyone, who took 8 fucking minutes to go after a black CEO just this morning, took three days to spit out condemnation of Nazis through his rotten teeth.

He lost everyone on Saturday but the alt-right; he lost the alt-right today with the condemnation. (Which is good for the rest of us.)

Just a dumb move in a series of dumb moves.

I doubt he lost many. He is still not a democrat and he is still white, that's all most of his supporters need.

His white supremacist fans will say he was obviously forced to do this to be "politically correct" and his first statement about it being both sides was his genuine feeling, so they'll still be content.

While it's in no way brave to say it, thank goodness he did. Hopefully this at least some what weakens the alt-right and guys like David Duke and maybe bothers Bannon enough that he leaves. I'm wondering what the Breitbart response will be.

He's clearly reading a prepared script

Whether he means it or not I can't say

I expect he will undermine it in a tweet later today

He undermined it at the beginning leading off with jobs. Also undermines it with his previous state, campaigning, and employment of white supremicist Miller. And yeah, he probably will undermine it within the week to with more hateful statements.

This is probably the most well spoken presidential Trump has sounded yet, props to the teleprompter. Obviously coming off as disingenuous regardless.

Obama would have made this speech on Saturday. The 'many sides' speech was given before a signing of some veterans bill at an event that was already on his calendar that day. It took him the whole weekend for him and his staff to realize that this event calls for a special address to the nation.
And Obama wouldn't have started out a speech about white supremacists committing domestic terrorism by gloating about the economy and the great trade deals he was gonna make.

And the more moderate Trump supporters out there will forgive him and give him credit for denouncing the Nazis. Dog whistles for everyone from now on!

Here's the exact quote if you missed it:

"The KKK, Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists, and other hate groups are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans."
Good. Well done, Trump.

He's going to get grilled by the left and the media regardless and he'll get no credit for saying it though. I think he deserves the backlash this time.

You shouldn't have to pull teeth to get the president to condemn white supremacists. This should be the easiest thing in the world.

I'm not going to give him a pass by saying "at least" he's saying the right thing now. If it's not genuine then it doesn't mean anything. The white supremacists won't feel discouraged by this because they know how he really feels. And so should you all. So has the situation really changed? The only thing this does is get the media off his back on this specific subject for the time-being. It's just more lying and more damage control.

Full statement:

“Racism is evil – and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including KKK, Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists, and other hate groups are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans. We are a nation founded on the truth that all of us are created equal. We are equal in the eyes of our Creator. We are equal under the law. And we are equal under the Constitution. Those who spread violence in the name of bigotry strike at the very core of America.”

Didn't he just ban Trans women and men from the arm forces

Woo.

He's fucking late as hell to do the easiest fucking job there is. Senior GOP officials already beat him to the chase loooong ago, as has virtually every other reasonable person on the planet. And when he finally tries to do it despite being given a litany of opportunities to do much earlier on, he sounds like a hostage victim being made to say these words against his own will. Not a tingle of resolve or sincerity to what is leaving his lips.

And yet someone out there right now is probably unironically tweeting "at last, Donald Trump is being presidential".

The spin is already happening.

Globalists and progressives forced his hand. Donald is only saying this to placate the masses while the white power of this country know the truth.

That excuse I just took from a comment I saw on twitter moments ago. This didn't weaken them, this did nothing to them. Empty words from an empty man.

A bit baffling given how he lambasted the Merck CEO earlier today for leaving his manufacturing council for his weak-ass stance. I do wonder who or what forced his hand.

"he had to say it publically but we know what he thinks privately"

Beat me to it, I guarantee you this is their line now. They will say they saw his true colors and support when he spoke out on Saturday, and this was just what he had to do to get 'the drooling librul media' off his ass. And hell, I can't say I exactly disagree with that in a sense. It's too little, too late and frankly, he should have said this shit on Saturday the first time if it was how he really felt.

How can anyone actually say "Oh well thank goodness he finally said it." This is a white surpremicist administration. He is on their side! His condemnation means nothing! Especially after his initial statement. It took him less than an hour to attack someone for leaving his advisory committee because of his response to this! Took all weekend to come up with this weak shit. Fuck Trump

Glad the administration is condemning it, but we're left with the knowledge that this fuckwad's first mention of the event was a "both sides".

The fact that your FIRST REACTION to a Nazis both killing and beating people is a weak-ass "both sides" argument tells wonders about where priorities lie. A second speech is meaningless.

Maybe if he didn't wait three fucking days to say it and then sleepily, through gritted teeth, spit it out?
