Easy Allies |OT3| "That sounds like the GameTrailers guy!"

I know the voting right now seems pretty hectic and overwhelming but I don't think we can call it a failure until we see a few weeks of the group stream using this method, mostly because I'm interested in seeing what games get picked for the next few group streams
As someone who raised his pledge for this I just wish they had soft launched it for a higher tier to work out some of the kinks before they got me to switch.

I reallllly want the Allies to talk about this next week on the podcast, considering that Jones is playing the telltale Batman game: (it's the article about the assassination photo they put in the game so warning for death picture)

This is insane. Truly. I already know bad shit about people that work at telltale and now this

Ah yeah, that's ignorance on my part. I do honestly want to get into wrestling though and am interested in Fire Pro if you're saying it's good.

Haha, no problem. And yes, you should absolutely play Fire Pro.

On a completely different note, I just got home from watching Blade Runner 2049 and it's really. Fucking. Great. Even better than the original.

Damn, that picture doesn't even look real, I wouldn't be surprised if they just thought it was a stock photo or a movie still.

More than Allies talking about it, I want to hear from Telltale what the hell happened. You probably won't elaborate further about the "bad shit" that work at Telltale? Just wondering if it would be something that would make me see the company very differently, since I happen to like their games very much.

I'm not quite sure what's there to talk about. It is definitely screwed up, but considering how "good" the picture looks, it might as well been accidentally put in, as in "it's been mistaken for a stock photo or a staged scene from a movie or show". At least as an outsider who doesn't know any of the bad stuff from Telltale you're talking about, it seems like a moronic mistake, but not necessarily on purpose.

My guess would be, someone used it as place holder (googled "body shot dead", or something) forgot about it, and then it somehow missed the checks, and got in the game.
Especially since companies use third parties to produce some assets, it could even be some contractor, outside of Telltale?
Talking out of my ass, but if i had to guess, i'd say something of the sort, more than anything malicious or even a troll.

I mean considering that you have to pay to use stock photos it'd be a shitty business practice in the first place. I just left a job as a texture artist, we would never have been allowed to use pictures we didn't own. So if this person truly didn't know what it was, why were they googling images and throwing them in the official texture without finding out the source?

Imo I think it's more of an asshole move of oh wouldn't it be funny if I put this in the game but that's just my guess

Edit: yea urbanrats interpretation could be what happened but damn

Yeah it's hard to think it would be something they did intentionally, they have enough bad press already with how their games work. Don't think they would want to invite a shitstorm like this on their doorstep.

I think this has been the biggest week for micro transactions newa, forza 7, shadow of war, and battlefront 2 are all fueling the fire.

Hopefully they talk about that. I think forza is particularly malicious because they let reviewers score the game first, then they add the micro transactions a couple of weeks later. Battlefront is apparently pay to win.

Not to mention that those three are particularly nasty cases of MTs overall.

I'm really glad the background of the podcast/frame trap is full of fan-made EZA stuff, rather than other movie/game podcasts that are just littered with "Lootbox"-esque nerd culture junk that screams to the audience "We like Star Wars and Nintendo!" too.

There needs to be a Gundam shelf though.

Not really sure why, but I still miss the set while they were at GT. I guess it's affected by all the possibilities having their own studio would bring forth.

Edit: Not to say that they haven't improved the presentation greatly from where they started with EZA.

I honestly do not notice her anymore, she's a part of the furniture. Which is funny because it must be one of the first things new viewers notice.

Once in a while I'll read comments, and there'll be someone asking why there is a stand out of Lightning.

It's hilarious.

I admit that I didn't like the switch from the couch to the studio at first, because it felt less personal and cozy. But looking back to it now, I really wish they'd back at that level. The lighting was good, everyone had a mic on them, Ian in the booth(!) and I liked the title cards.

I hope one day they'll be able to get back to that kind of production level. They deserve it.

I also have days where I start missing some Ian in the booth. That's the dream, but I remember Ian saying once that the board he used back then cost like 30,000 dollars. That's just crazy.

Yeah, Tricasters man. Expensive shit.

1080P 60fps capable ones are even crazier because only sports broadcasts use them. Giant Bomb built a desktop and use software instead now for a 4 camera setup and it seems fine though.

Man, that's really rough with them huddled around that tiny microphone. I know it was only the first episode but still.
Amazing how much you can improve the look with a different angle, a few lights and a desk.

Yeah, it's really gross. And the worst part is, most reviewers don't seem to care at all. Both Forza 7 and Shadow of War are reviewing in line with their predecessors and I'm sure the sales will follow.

Excellent podcast but I had to skip the first part of L&R. I know Ben pre-warns it coming but I've finally heard enough about Dark Souls and it's my favourite game of all time. But yeah, excellent podcast. Great flow and conversation besides the Gran Turismo: Sport skip :(

Yeah, we cant rely on reviewers to fight this for us, gamers are going to have to boycott premium games with free to play economies in them to send a message or hope that the law catches up to this soon.

Not all implementations are equal. In Shadow of War's case they seem utterly inconsequential. In Battlefront and Forza the progression seems to revolve around them completely.

We should have a patreon goal for a houge law show where Brandon reads law email from the firm about burning industry questions.

Well we all know gamers aren't going to do anything about it, so regulations are the only way we're going to stop it (and by that we obviously mean EU regulations because we all know Trump and his fellow fuckwits aren't going to do anything about it). Microtransactions as a whole should be treated like gambling. It's the exact same psychology behind the design.

So Shadow of War's true ending is utterly inconsequential? Monolith just added it in for a laugh?

I feel you, I really do, but in a way my answer is not about Dark Souls at all.
