Mobile games ruined gaming. Jim is either an idiot, or just trying to get hits. My guess is an extra serving of both.

He rated Vanquish poorly because he sucked at the game. From the same guy who said that he gives 2/10 to Gears 5 primarily because he hates Microsoft.
Sony was a far better gaming studios during the PS1-PS2-PS3 days. "Highest rated" and "best selling" aren't conclusive proof of anything.Imagine actually believing this.
Some of the highest rated and best selling games of all time.
Mobile games ruined gaming.
I don't I rather have developers take their time making their games the best they can be and one of the main issues with several releases these last couple of years are publishers rushing games out.
So we get games that are half broken with a fix later approach I don't want this shit you are literally arguing for developers to rush their games out the door, in a broken state christ almighty the stupidity with this argument boggles the mind.
If CDPR wants to delay Cyberpunk 2077 for sixth months for additional polish I am all for it.
Guess what the options are....that's right it's either to stop playing vidya games or to be a pirate. Unless everyone outside of the echo chamber decides to stop paying for DLC, virtual currencies, loot boxes, etc, nothing that I do will make a lick of difference.Do you really support this shit ? do you wanna see more these things happening ?
Psygnosis says hi.
You mean like how horse armor isn't the progenitor of all this? You mean how F2P games started this thing? You mean how mobile games didn't go ape shit with micro transactions? Blaming it on ONE company is lunacy.
They did shut down Lionhead Studios and cancelled Fable for the XBO. They also canned the exclusive game they had partnered with PlatinumGames.
Sony has killed more studios then MicrosoftI've been saying this for years, but I get labeled as a Sony fanboy or whatever when I bring it up. Gonna actually give this one a watch.
Before watching, I hope he hits on:
- Paying for Online
- Horse armor/DLC originator
- RRoD
- Excessive bought timed exclusive BS
- Dropping off of making quality exclusives midway through X360 generation
- Ruining 1st party/purchased studios
- Sitting on many great IPs but only making sequels to 3-4 franchises
Ta tu as do mheabhair! Dun siad na studios seo nuair a thosaigh siad ag atogail na foirean WWS. Ta na duine cumasacha fos ar PlayStation.Sony has killed more studios then Microsoft

He mostly blames the precedents MS set early on in the generation, but carry on defending your favorite corporation's honor. Are you not gonna mention that The Last of Us, Killzone:Shadowfall, Uncharted 4, Gran Turismo Sport and MLB games, all have MTX ? Or do get a pass for being Sony ?
Honestly, Microsoft does not have any serious MTX or sometimes none at all in their online games like Forza Horizon 4, Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2. The ones in Killer Instinct, Sea of Theives and Gears 5 are very much harmless (if they are responsible for something then you may as well point your fingers to Sony's online games too). But ofcourse, it's the least popular console that is responsible for everything.

He mentions EA as the ultimate root of this evil. His point is, by adopting the EA model (so enthusiastically, one should say) at the very beginning of the generation, they set the tone for it. They enabled these practices.Microsoft simply adopted the shit model. EA and Activision pioneered excessive monetization so it’s actually the 3rd parties and mobile games fault the industry is shitty. How could he miss the ball on that one soo much? He has been talking about it constantly for years
And many stupid gamers that defended online multiplayer paywall. People should not have supported that. I guarantee you that if people had called that out and fought it in the early 2000s, console online gaming would now be free for all.But I bet there were many stupid fucking gamers that bought the horse armour way back in Oblivion and there are many stupid fucking gamers who bought the XP boost in Assassin's Creed, the red dot in CoD and the new scavenging bots in Falout 76 as examples.
Mobile games ruined mobile gaming.
Microsoft's lack of quality games and shady monetization tactics ruined Xbox.
Great gaming experiences are still around. Just look at the terrific state of PlayStation, Nintendo and PC.
Yea sure “set the standard” yet Sony is beating their ass by doing the exact opposite and Nintendo is still staying true to their core values of polished complete games. But noooooo it’s MS fault games are bad. This argument holds no fucking water especially since most of their first party games flopped hardHe mentions EA as the ultimate root of this evil. In the age of loot boxes and aggressive micro transactions you seriously think online would be free? . Guess what. PC MP ain’t free either because you still got to pay for that internet connection. Don't hold on to the clickbaity title so much. MS enabled those practices, they sent 3rd parties a clear message. But noooooo it’s MS fault games are bad. This argument holds no fucking water especially since most of their first party games flopped hard
Genuine question, why does Jim Sterling get off being negative all the time?

Not only that, DLC and MTX retroactively justify the introduction of online multiplayer fees. Apparently.Man did someone really just say PC gaming internet isn't free because you pay for your internet? C'mon guys, I really don't get defending every crappy practice because your preferred gaming medium practices it.

Please name me one amazing XBox One exclusive.

Xbox fans are the reason why MS games are bad. They will defend the games with all their honor yet will not purchase it but rather gamepass "rental". Enjoy your upcoming AA games folks.
I need some receipts here. You like to make a a lot of generalizations and claims based on a fangroup you know very little about.People use to say Sunset Overdrive. Now Sony owns that ip and suddenly they no longer care for it.
The majority of Sony's best game franchises all come from independent game studios they acquired.I'd actually say they've been better this gen than they were during the PS3 generation but that's just a personal opinion. PS1-PS2 had a lot of all time classics that helped reshape gaming forever but it must be noted that the cast majority of exclusive games during those generations were actually from third party studios rather than Sony's in house teams. They only really started heavily investing in their first party studios when they had their backs up against the wall during the PS3 era.
But they nurture and love their developers, from the ground up in tiny seeds. The majority of Sony's best game franchises all come from independent game studios they acquired.
The key ones still made in house are God of War, GT and their annual baseball game.
UC, LoU, Killzone, Horizon anything made by Media Molecule, all the Evo driving games, any legacy game from Sony Liverpool (Psygnosis) and more I'm missing are all from bought out studios at some point.
Other games like R&C, Spiderman and all their interactive movie games from QD are partnership games. Now Insomniac is bought out.
There's actually very few top tier Sony games made in house by Sony employees from the ground up.
And Sony were also doing that early on the generation, even with launch titles. He mostly blames the precedents MS set early on in the generation, but carry on defending your favorite corporation's honor.

Honestly though, it's the idiots who actually subscribed to XBL for years that should be blamed more than MS.The only thing I will fault MS is they were the first ones to push paid online.
Now every online service on a console is behind a paywall.
Did any of them go to Sony headquarters and force them to charge a fee?Honestly though, it's the idiots who actually subscribed to XBL for years that should be blamed more than MS.
Nobody cheered for paid online. There was a moment of silence when paid online was mentioned.Did any of them go to Sony headquarters and force them to charge a fee?
You know who are the real asstards? The ones whooping and cheering at the Sony conference when they announced paid online.
Why not get mad at those douches instead of MS?
It was cheered all the way through. Let’s not rewrite history.Nobody cheered for paid online. There was a moment of silence when paid online was mentioned.
Sony was sneaky in the way they announced it.
Don't get your panties twisted though, I ranted about it in forums at that time.
Still doesn't change anything about what I said.
