After they cancelled their playable demo the delay was inevitable. Though it's better this way, Cyberpunk, Last of Us, FF7. They would have been crashed by the competition.

The combat in the E3 / gamescon / generic game event that i dont remember the name demo was underwhelming at the best...

Combat info sounds good, I guess. But I'm not sure I like what he is saying about the skill system. The original game had a very complex one, a proper RPG system and I remember I loved it. I mean it can be a bit dated now, but last thing I would like would be a standard aRPG skill tree whe have now in most cases...

This also means Double Bear Productions (Dead State/Panic at Multiverse High) is dead. Which is a bit sad considering Dead State was somewhat underrated (imo).

To make it short:
Regarding their marriage
- Annie and Brian removed ALL mentions of each other or being married from their accounts. Obsessivly so. They also went completly silent to each other on social media even before that and Annie has been recently reminising about her past while activly avoiding crediting Brian with anything.
So, don't ask me how far along the divorce is, but the removal of all mentions of their marriage including in prospect of future employement (Linkedin) was a conscious decision on their part. So that's pretty much confirmed.
Now about Ellison:
- Up until July last year Annie was very good friends with Ellison. Quite visibly so in fact as they were constantly interacting on twitter. Then that all suddenly stopped and Annie gives her the same treatement she gives Brian. From that moment on Ellison also began gushing constantly about Brian.
Now the Ellison thing is speculation (which is why I said likely), but the timing and her sudden closeness to Brian are more than a bit suspicious.

Their marriage being over is confirmed by their own actions. Unless you want them to send you their divorce papers personally thats as good as you are going to get on the internet. Or do you often remove any instance of being married from your application letter for funsies (Including going back to your old name)?
And I never said or implied that the Cara Ellison thing was fact. Just something likely with a bad joke attached to it.

I simply don't mention that I'm married on my linkedin or in job applications, since it has absolutely no relevance for my work. I also don't advertise my relationship status on twitter. Maybe I'm the weird one here, but not mentioning your relationship status on linkedin is just the professional thing to do.

I’m not following the logic here either? One person above said ‘this game is going to be a shitshow’ - why. because one of the developers is getting divorced? Huh?
More likely, this is another instance where a certain percentage of gamers has decided to hate a game before its release, and together they’re going to dogpile on it. We saw the same thing happen recently with Control - you could tell, in every thread about the game before its release, that some people wanted Control to be bad and for it to fail both critically and commercially.
I guess hate culture is just ingrained in gaming now.

Get the fuck over yourself. I have a functioning brain and I have been following the details coming out about this game from the developer’s mouths themselves. Everything I have seen points towards this game being not what fans want.
Add to that, that the head guy might have left his wife to have a relationship with the game’s main writer whilst it is still in development, leads me to believe that Cara Ellison wields disproportional influence over this product than her resume and actions should warrant.
It all comes together for me to predict this game will be a shitshow. If I end up off the mark, feel free to rub it in my face. But, until then, you can take your “hate culture” hot take and shove it.

So did Annie as Annie VanDerMeer-Mitsoda. FOR 10 YEARS. Now its just Annie VanDerMeer again.
Just to list it again what happened:
- She left the company she and her spouse co-founded. Who's a two person game development company specifically founded for them to create games together.
- For all intents and purposes she changed her name again back to her maiden one.
- She activly unfollwed her spouse on all social media accounts.
- She removed any mention of her marriage from her social media accounts. While having it there for, again, a decade.

Yup, but it's jankier and the combat is broken without the fan patch. Well the whole game is broken without it, so if you want to play buy the GOG version which ships with the fan patch IIRC.Was the first game like deux ex? Maybe I should try it!

With whats happened to some of the most revered IPs over the last...almost 10 years, theres more of a chance that yet another beloved/highly regarded IP is going to be a shit show than it not being one.
Its either get hyped up and expect the world, then be told that we expected too much even though what was promised wasnt delivered (No Mans Sky), or, we can assume the worst based on the last decade of gaming and be right about based on the obvious signs (ME Andromeda).
