This is certainly true from what I've seen - it is definitely more Trump and Tucker Carlson. And I am no fan of either of them (or Biden really but we gotta do what we gotta do, John Oliver is great tho). I also agree that defending death threats or racism or sexism is bad to normalize - but it's not something I don't really see on a daily basis elsewhere on the internet so I just don't really pay attention to it.

I don't disagree with this. But this place has become very right leaning with the majority circle jerking each other about certain views. It is cool that everyone can say what they want, but the immature posts are all rather pointless and mean spirited. You get people who lean to the left being told to go to 'Reee' if they don't like it here. It isn't much different from era in the community aspect, but the modding is different in that it allows all views. It is just the people more to the left get drowned out and memed when they do appear.

Conduct simply needs to be constructive in its criticism. Ones likes or dislikes cannot be prejudiced against as this is the essence of diversity.
The moderation on Neogaf is incredibly fair and of a high standard. Since joining I will admit to having 2 posts deleted by mods, and rightfully so. Lazy one liners adding nothing to the discussion but instead agitating others. Even if not directly intended as such, it’s on me to not presume context by the readers, it’s clear why the mods do what they do.
As always the quality of the conversation must retain a certain standard, the only thing that’s important is not to crush opinion while balancing it with a degree of freedom for boisterous banter and light ribbing. It’s what makes life a much more pleasant experience.

I was permabanned cos I was pissed off about the PS5 event being delayed.
I said I didn't care about the protests, it was all a big fuss and nothing would change.
Seems naive in retrospect but I was amazed to get permanently banned for that. Like, I didn't question the protests, I didn't question the injustice, I just said I didn't care ( I was exaggerating tbh cos I was so pissed off).
Literally all I really said was "this issue isn't a big deal to me". I already knew a lot of them on there were insane, but I'm ultra liberal generally, so the idea of being banned just for not caring about something still blew my mind.
It's a shame because for the most part there's plenty of decent discussion about games on there. I guess 80% of the posters just know never to say the wrong thing.

I said in my previous post that I’ve always seen anything truly explicitly bigoted banned here. I haven’t read the other thread, I’m sure people have gotten away with pushing the limit a little bit from what I’ve seen but regardless of that I definitely believe that Resetera is the “toxic” forum as opposed to here - I’d much rather have this place be right leaning than what resetera does - I was having a debate on the slogan ACAB and the amount of people who dogpiled on me and were disrespectful/aggressive despite my being totally respectful and measured in the way I questioned the usefulness of “All Cops Are Bastards” and also accused me of arguing in bad faith or having some hidden agenda. It was honestly crazy. I didn’t ever get banned there but it weirded me out sufficiently enough that I asked to be gone.

And don't forget that beautiful conference in which he showed some female videogame designs of other videogames and called them sexist, while claiming he had this secret agenda of making the industry in line with the third wave feminism approved designs.
His activism it's pretty well documented. People think the character designs are just a coincidence, and then come with the typical"oh, you hate a character just because he is gay". But Neil has already outlined publicly how he pushes his Anita Sarkeesian based agenda on character design alone. It's incredibly obvious, yet some people still want to play dumb and claim that there is no agenda, even ignoring that the creator himself is literally telling you that there is an agenda.
