What a strange stance to take, there is a single-player campaign in this as well, don't exclude things because it does not reflect to good on xbox's narrative. Besides sony's controller is for the whole generation, not just bits and pieces of it. It def stands and it's important, casuals adore the damn thing.

Let's weigh up the results and look at them.

The games are basically par with xbox putting all their chips into their system and reaching performance equality with the Ps5

When you consider the ps5 has a better controller and a faster ssd for loading times, and you can pick up the digital version of the console for 100 bucks less, this is yet another win for sony i am afraid.

Infact it's not even close. Xbox spent their cash on hardware and failing to beat sony while Sony has all the goodies, is not a good look,

why would you want the same version with fewer perks to play with?

Parity is not your friend if you are an xbox owner, i am sorry there is no way around it, you meant to be smoking these comparisons with your hardware that's in your system, you are not. If you want to play the game on whos won this, its another lose, play station once again is punching far above its weight.

I'm a software engineer with 20 years experience and a director at my work. I love the work they do but they are hardly "technically minded" in a true sense. I don't mean that with disrespect, but they are more akin to movie critics than engineers. Again, no disrespect. But doing the work is two orders of magnitude more difficult than knowing buzzwords and measuring frame rates.

That sounded way worse than I meant it.
I didn't call them engineers either so we agree on that. Technically minded I think they literally are.
They should be allowed to provide commentary that they judge objective on their own youtube channel without being called a disgrace to science.

Unfounded? Based on VG tech statistics the PS5 stays at locked 120fps 2.25 percent points over Series X while Series X stays at locked 60fps only 0.03 percent points over the PS5. Thats a win for PS5 in itself but taking into account that the PS5 version can be played on a superior controller with unique features, missing graphical features (smoke from shooting a gun) on Series X the win gets only bigger.

Now go ahead and present your "reality".

What I find interesting is that the VGTech excel file shows PS5 having a total of 9 frames at lower frame time in the entire test while DF has three separate occurrences of PS5 dropping frame rate for over 1 second if you look at the screenshots posted.

Either they tested different scenes entirely or something doesn’t add up between the two measurements - they cannot be showing the same situation.
 
The XSX runs better in the mode which 95%+ of gamers will use and it feels better in 120hz mode if you have VRR. Overall a slight win.

I gotta say I'm impressed with the devs here, such a gorgeous game and it runs almost flawlessly.

Or it's unconnected to the hardware and is just a bug. Seems different folk are having different experiences and I wonder what would happen if DF ran the PS5 test again to see if the drops happen in the same places.

This is an odd one to me.
 
Proper analysis from VGTech with numbers so we don't have to rely on unusual drops and screenshots and....PS5 is identical to Series X in 60fps but slightly ahead in 120fps

Is that only 8 minutes of gameplay? I would want a lot more to actually consider it statistically correct to something as dynamic as a video game.

The thing is, What matters more? 10 to 15 fps in 120 or 8-10 fps in 60. It´s obvious.

Also I think nobody in the world can notice the difference between 100 and 120 fps, human eye can´t do that. Even I think from 60 fps above it´s almost impossible to notice it.

120fps is marketing!

Anyways, PS5 seems to have better lighting and textures and IQ pops more, like the rez is more consistent there.....With these two improvements over Series X, I think it's quite impressive on PS5...Perhaps in cutscenes these better effects are taking point.....Look at the locker door in that one scene, the light there is more intense on the PS5 version, same can be seen in the indoor sections.....Look at all the neon in the bar, look how it pops more on PS5.....Also there's a video online where PS5 has smoke and effects from gunfire over Series X.....

In both scenarios framerate dips are not big enough that the vast majority of people will be able to pick up as long as the consoles are able to recover from it fast enough. What truly matters is how often the framerate drops and how long the framerate stays under the target framerate. Of course that excludes real heavy dips into the thirties or below but thats clearly not the case here.

Also I'll bet my left nut you don't have a 120hz display and/or don't know wtf VRR is because you sound ridiculous, and triggers are cute but turned off in mp where 95% of playing time is done in a cod 🤷‍♂️

Since 99% of people who own these machines don't have a 120hz display, this is a clear victory for series x. I guess we can throw out all the garbage from that other thread now, right?
I mean some people were ready to declare the ps5 a winner based on 2 crappy ports, what not declare absolute and final victory here for series X, only seems fair.

Ouch. Cod and dmc5 seems to show a glimpse of what SX can deliver over time. At best graphics settings, we are seeing a small but consistent win on SX.

It also seems 120hz on SX may need more mature dev/profiling tools. Normally, you win max settings, you win high fps too. It's unlikely a cpu bottleneck for SX.

Can't wait for wave2 of next gen games, devs will get more time they need to utilize MS GDK. :messenger_ok:

I can say the same about dualsense, it has the sticks in the bottom and it´s a big issue to play in competitive games, also this gamepad is very heavy and big.
 
I absolutely agree, I just enjoy going against ps fanatics.

I play 90 percent on pc.

I had to watch the video myself because from the comments I thought it was the average performance of the PS5 version. It's not the first time I was filled by pictures of advantages on either platform.
 
If the analysis from DF is correct, it seems to me like the cu count of the series X will have an impact on raytracing performance.

Because AMD’s raytracing solution is using RT acceleration on a per CU level it totally makes sense. I can imagine this will be the use trend this generation. Its just so awesome that we get these RDNA2 level gpu’ s in our next gen consoles and while ray tracing performance is probably not going to be out of this world I’m all for only having ray traced GI and shadows over crazy reflections full ray tracing. I feel like Ray Traced GI and shadows is so much more important to the overall image than ssao although devs are getting pretty good at faking things these days so I dunno. It will all come down to a per game basis. I can’t wait to see what some of the Sony first parties do with this tech.
