The Last of Us Part I |OT| You know Ellie, we really are worth 70 dollars

I think now with the difficulty trophies gone, there is no reason not to play it on CUSTOM mode all the way.

Grounded is great for most parameters but then my aim is shit so I drop resources to hard (more than enough in P2) or even medium.
That just gives you way more ammo, so you don't feel that pressure to stealth through most of encounters and reload checkpoints whenever you miss a shot. It's still difficult but with more winging it through firefights = more fun imo.

Another thing I do is drop companion AI to medium/lite. Makes them more active and aggressive in combat since on grounded they're just useless most of the time (at least in P2) as the game expects you to do most of the work.
I think it makes the game feel more realistic, to miss their presence when you're on your own.

Does Part 1 have custom difficulty settings? I was watching someone go through the settings and didn’t see any...

Sorry i misread your post. Yes, the remake has customizable difficulty settings. I don't think the original had this. If, then surely not to this extend.

Yeah, I mean like what Part 2 had where you could customize difficulty for AI, damage, supplies, etc.

Someone should give me the RE4 remake for free. I’ve bought it at least 5 times. Let me check:

Gamecube
Wii
PC
PS3
PS4
Switch

6!

I’M PART OF THE PROBLEM.
I never bought it or played it. But all the girls in my life seem to have no interest in any games but Sims and Resident Evil.

This video perfectly captures the differences I've been harping on. The difference is significant to me, but I can't knock those who feel differently since it's all subjective. But to say there is not a fidelity improvement both cinematics and gameplay from Pt. 2 to Pt.1 Remake is false. I personally feel NXGamer and DF glossing over this is a glaring omission.

Ive been saying the quality isnt coming across YT and other clips.

Its been the same argument with every PS exclusive and when they hit your TV everyones resction is "wow".

Next up GoW and the "it looks like 2018" fanclub.

Im buying this next days off.

What settings should I play this on as someone that doesn’t like stealth but enjoys a good (but not terribly frustrating) challenge?
Hard is pretty ok for a first run

Normal is way too easy, I think

Playing it right now, just finished the "prologue", and yeah, graphics are pretty great. On par with TLOU II, but certainly not better.

That first emotional scene hit me just like in the original. Good sign.

Yup. This looks incredible. I'd pay some good bucks for it but yeah....they clearly underestimated demand for this.
It sold out quickly and then had to produce more. (first time due to bots...that's why having this on PS Direct this time will be better hopefully)
The only special edition version of a game that I really wanted was Uncharted 2. But that one, they made it limited! Ugh!

It's $100 aus ... They're barking mad what a rip off 😂
I'm in Aus.. Buy from Amazon $98 with free delivery.. You buy and complete, you put in free return/refund within 14 days and use reason 'didn't meet expectations', You've now played it for free. They always allow return no questions asked even if opened as long as still in new condition. Most of the time you get the refund not along after Aus Post scan and put through the return in the system before it even arrives back in the warehouse. I've done this many times.

Way better than EB's 7 day guarantee, you don't need to see or speak to anyone pretending you didn't like it.

Sold out 12:01 AM for me, before the "add to cart" button even showed up. I refreshed like every 5 seconds too. Why the fuck would they restock so little copies? Why wasn't there an invitation or sign-up system for PS Plus subscribers to bypass bots? Whoever was in charge of this shit needs a new job. The special edition was my only incentive to buy this game 'Day 1' as I've already beaten it on PS3 and PS4. I'm definitely not purchasing a standard edition until it's on a deep sale. Their loss...

The Last of Us has my favourite story of any game I've ever played.

Managed to pick it up for £52 on disc from Base, looking forward to it arriving later today.

Am I crazy for preferring 4k Fidelity mode??

The game looks so much sharper and the motion in this game is so slow that 60fps doesn’t do as much for me

I'm playing in 4k mode as well. Toggled field of view to the max just as I did with TLOU2 and everything looks great during gameplay. I do feel those framerate drops during cinematics though. They should patch soon.

To me this is the best looking game of the generation so far. Indirect lighting for indoor environments have been the standout for me.

I am playing as well. This isn't true. Lighting is easily ahead of TLOU 2.

Digital Foundry and many others already said that this is not true. It aint better, not alone "easily ahead".

It's using the exact same tech: lighting, models, everything. Even vegetation LOD is the same, I checked myself.

And before you put some Part II models comparisons that I've seen floating around: Part II doesnt run at 4K, it runs at 1440p. Seems better due to the higher resolution, but again, they aint different.

All you have to do to prove this is to use the "Model Viewer" in both games. All models are exactly the same in terms of quality. And the game doesnt swap between cutscene/ingame models, they use the same.

It seems you are not playing the game just regurgitating what someone else said.

I am at a maintenance window with a customer and as soon as I am done I am hopping in.

Models are the same quality? I think it looks better not just because of 4k or 1440p.
Same quality in model viewer mode maybe. But in game clearly part 1 looks better.

The game still looks a bit crisper and sharper to me with better lighting, DOF, particle effects, etc but maybe it’s just placebo
