Album sales are nice. Grat's to Cole. His work ethic isn't in question. Longevity, maybe. As far as Roc heirs go, his debut isn't up to par with Bleek's. I just gave it a relisten today. Man. Not bad. Definitely has more soul and flavor than Cole's.
God no. Just stop it.

Very happy

grats Cole, well deserved. Just a month ago I thought he was gonna flop, but I guess touring the shit out of the country and building a fan base>>hit single

Impressive especially since he didn't have a chart topping single.

But yeah, I didn't want to give my thoughts on the album, because I figured my mind might change on it a week later or so, but overall I think it's a really solid debut album. I definitely think Cole's strength is his storytelling on this album. I hope he isn't going anywhere soon.

Oh and I'm definitely looking forward to that Kendrick Lamar x J. Cole mixtape(assuming that is still happening)

I think he's set himself up for a pretty buzzed sophomore effort.
Apparently, he's already working on it.

While I'm glad for Cole with the sales and still think the album is really solid nearly 2 weeks after hearing it, I hope his next effort has a bigger jolt of energy in terms of rapping delivery and beats. I think a lot of his material still lacks a lot of "punch" to give a real knockout or club smash. Drums are still a little too subdued sometimes.

Still listening to Cole World everyday since it came out. Mostly God's Gift, Lost Ones, Breakdown, Cole World, and Daddy's Little Girl. The last half is definitely the stronger half, but Lights Please and Dollar and a Dream III carry the first half. I give it a solid 8.5/10.

Nobody's Perfect is a good single, I personally didn't care for Work Out.

I still listen to Blow Up every morning, except for maybe tomorrow when I head to the DMV....

Agreed. I hope he handles less production on the album, and teams up with some better producers. I'd definitely like to see more No ID beats for instance, hell even some Big Krit beats; Cole would kill something like The Vent.

Well, out of the 3 Jay-Z signed solo artists, Bleek, Beans and Cole, Cole is without question the weakest. Pretty sure Beans and Bleek's debuts both went platinum too.

Videos of those two being performed.

Crowd was dead, and Cole didn't really look like all his energy was there. Maybe it's just the filming.
Yeah it was a weak performance overall.

I agree that Cole could use a bit of outside production. To change the sound up a bit. I thought this album was damn good, definitely top 3 of the year. I think he could benefit from some help though. Maybe a Krit feature on the next album? That would be the best thing ever.

Beans>Cole>Bleek. The music industry was also vastly different when those guys had their debut. So comparing sales is a bit off.

I've been listening to this in the car for the past week. Really solid album that wowed me. Production hits all the right notes for me even tho there's not really any good banger (although that DBZ beat is close) but his words and delivery really do it for me, haven't seen a new artist do that for me in quite a while. So nice to just sit back to, listen and think about. Favorites are Lights Please, Cole World, Never Told and God's Gift

FNL is still his gold standard, this was a disappointment, just a few stand out tracks, Gods Gift, Rise and Shine, Dollar 3 and Sideline is the only songs I still listen too.

Friday Night lights is my shit, does the Cole World album compare well?

Compares very well, but its a bit more mix of FNL and the warm up. If you liked previous Cole projects, this isnt any different.

Another single to bomb. I'm pretty surprised Can't Get Enough hasn't charted wtf

Its honestly really surprising, Cant Get Enough is a perfect single. Also surprising that he sold that many first week without a hit single.

All FNL has going for it is that it has a few great songs on it (2Face, Premeditated Murder [which leaked prior], TDFTI to name a couple) spread throughout.

As a collective tape, it is definitely not seeing The Warm Up.

I agree. It feels more like a collection of songs, The Warm Up feels like a cohesive project. I do love Cost Me A lot on FNL for its subtle jab at flocka.

WarmUp>ComeUp>FNL>>>>>>>>>Cole World.

I dont get this line of thought, Cole World is just like Friday Night Lights and Warm Up. He just threw in a few singles, thats all.

Cole World is no where close to Warm-Up, I'm not going any further than that.

Friday Night Lights in my opinion is when you start to see him start commercializing his music. Not as great as his first two mixtapes, but it still had a great assortment of songs.

Cole World doesn't get good until Lost Ones, and from there almost every track is great except Never Told. Add in a ton of old tracks and bad ones like Sideline Story and Cole World and you get a disappointing album for me.

I find the only bad tracks on Cole World are Mr.Nice Watch/In The Morning. Only two old tracks: In the Morning and Lights Please. Its not his fault the other ones leaked early. It is an incredibly solid album, as evidenced by the strong reaction to it without a hit single.

Best song from FNL for me was "Home for the Holidays". That was his feel-good record, on some "Through the Wire" Kanye-type stylings.
