The Mercedes is clearly better for qualifying I doubt they will get a podium in a normal race.

Merc are insanely fast in a straight line and the huge straights at Sepang will definitely suit them even in the race , especially since they will be able to use the DRS once they are within a second down the 2 biggest straights.

They are gonna be insanely fast at Canada, but by then most of the teams would have caught up with them and their duct

Their tyres are shit though. I'd be happy to be wrong but the cars has its weaknesses as well as strengths.

More on Lotus fire

Sounds like Kimi left the fridge open.

On Friday night, the Lotus F1 Team hospitality unit here at the Sepang International Circuit was the victim of a fire, causing the team to abandon ship for the rest of the weekend and seek refuge elsewhere in the paddock.

At around 03:00 local time, smoke began to fill the Lotus F1 Team hospitality unit as one of the kitchen refrigerators blew a fuse setting the ground floor alight.

Thankfully nobody was present in the temporary structure at the time, and so no injuries were incurred. The team did however lose catering equipment, food and drink, and some marketing materials. One of Kimi’s helmets also perished in the blaze, and although the rest of the driver’s equipment was rescued it is now covered in soot.

This is a joke right?

thread is filled with both hamilton haters and supports. 9 out of 10 conversations involve the guy.

Anyone think the Sky coverage was better today?
Lazenby was much improved IMO, i think itll be fine once they all warm into their roles.

Actually, yes, Schumacher has been the quickest through the speed traps, but not by much at all. They're probably running with comparatively more rear wing this weekend, sacrificing some of the straight line speed to have a steadier car and keep out of too much wheel-spin. The rest of the setup, too, seems to have a bigger focus on the race this weekend, so I wouldn't be surprised if tire degradation isn't all that big of an issue.

The forecast sems to mean nothing so realistically it could rain at any time tomorrow.

Predicting 5000 posts before race is over tomorrow.

Hah just been listening to this F1 podcast someone recommended.

Yes, you can come out of your illegal streams of the F1 and memories of when watching the sport wasn’t some kind of painful expensive choice between a divorced mummy (bbc) and daddy (sky) and rejoice as Kevin and Terry return to do another (you didn’t expect it) f1 (but you wanted it) podcast!

The Australian Grand Prix, pre season testing, Kimi getting confused, Terry getting hurt, Massa whining, Hamilton psyching himself up and Button being so damned cool about it all. It’s anotherf1podcast. Back in your ears.

Massa really is a useless twat. The car is embarrassing enough for Ferarri, but the fact they haven't fired him is the most ridiculous thing.

Webber is showing his experience, I think. Vettel may be the better driver with a great car, but now Red Bull aren't on top Webber is using his years of experience with lesser cars to get more out of it. Nice to see.

Quali is SO exciting this year so far. Nice to see everything so close. It's going to be a great season.

If it rains, I'd expect and hope for Button to win. In fact, I hope he wins in any case, or Schumacher. Vettel might be dangerous with the tyres he's got on at the start as he might have to pit stop later than everyone else.

yup, i´m also looking forward to a great season of racing. Today was nice with just 0.4s covering pole to eighth place.

I just hope the other teams can fight the Mclaren on the track. Last weekend it looked as if they were just controlling it steady and fast as the needed to. Vettel´s second place was a bit of bad luck plus SC phase.

I was surprised that he could not take his second place back..

Vettel was on the hards so Webber's slightly faster lap on softs isn't a sign that he is getting more out of the car.

I wanted rain! But a good quali nonetheless. Interesting strategy from RBR, on hards. And good job Lotus, they are very impressive.

The F1 app is very nice. Better than i expected. I just need a nice tablet to take advantage of it in full though.

To be fair Webber has looked better than Vettel through qualifying... there were a few laps in there that Vettel just couldn't seem to match.

I don't know if it was a case of Red Bull still experimenting or not though. We'll certainly see what they've got in the race (unless Webber goes backwards at the start and then angrily takes Vettel out when he goes past him).

True, but I have yet to see evidence that Webber is getting more out of the car yet, in fact in race trim Vettel looked very good last weekend, and though his second place had a huge slice of luck with the SC he still managed to do it.

Also, Webber fantastically terrible starts will see him end up 12th at the end of the first lap while Seb will probably be third ahead of Lewis with Button and Schumacher in 1st/2nd.

Looking forward to the race tomorrow, great qualifying all round Mclaren, Mercedes. Schumi driving fantastic, think he should do well tomorrow, I think they've sacrificed some speed for improved tyre wear, but Nico against flat spotted his tyre for tomorrows race. Sad to see Ferrari scapping around car is not good at all, we need to have a collection so that Ferrari can pay off massa to go and have a holiday a long holiday. Someone tell me whats georgie job supposed to be, a cross between jordan and jodie marsh???

I think the car characteristics with ban on EBD have suited Webber again. The car setup is similar to 2010 where he and Vettel were evenly matched at most races.

thats exactly what i was thinking. It shouldent take vettel that long though to adjust to the car.
i predit he will be out performing webber in qualy by the next race.

There's like 3-4 of us here. Still confident about a win this Sunday. :)

Good qualifying, by the way. Didn't watch F1 during the Shumacher era so I'd never seen him in the press room. Very composed and gives good answers, I thought.

I'm not going to say I called it, but I totally fucking did. Knew that with the changes, Vettel would at least take time to adapt while Webber would come to grips fairly quickly. Not just from a fanboy point of view, but it's just common sense that his experience would come into play, especially with his run of shit teams where he had to wring the hell out of the cars he was given. Similar could be said of Button and Hamilton.

Webber's time in Q1 on hards was pretty fucking close to Vettel's in Q3. Moreso considering that Q1 wasn't even for any starting position and could've just arsed in a top 10 time.

Hey Orgun, that podcast any good? I wouldn't mind giving it a listen, but with how fast news develops in F1, unless you're listening to something that's less than a day old, it'd struggle to be too relevant, I'd think.

Nothing beats this

kimi%20hose.jpg

off to reading some news now.

Kimi did a wonderful job, he's practically 4th with Webber, so He kinda beat Redbulls!

If its raining all the way tomorrow, Kimi is gonna win it. Yes even from 10th on the grid

Also, can I just add that Massa is fucking shite. I mean completely fucking shite. The sooner Ferrari get KK in the better. They also need to get in season testing back quick or start investing heavily in a decent simulator like McLaren.

Kimi Raikkonen believes Lotus pace was strong enough for Malaysian GP front row

Kimi Raikkonen believes his Lotus had the potential to be inside the top two in qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix, had not made a mistake on his Q3 flying lap at Sepang.

Asked by AUTOSPORT if he could have been one of the two fastest drivers in qualifying, the winner of this event in 2003 replied: "Yeah for sure. It's [his time] a tenth away from the top three and for sure we lost that easily.

"I got out of shape in two places and lost maybe a tenth or two, and on a perfect lap for sure it could have been two tenths faster, but it's not often that you get everything right like that so..."

He was a tenth away that's right. Hamilton's lap was so perfect its illegal :p .. Great job from Lewis for the second race in a row

I can't wait for tomorrow's race.

Ferrari needs an actual working nose on that car.

Ferrari needs to fire Dominicali.

They were slow in Melbourne as well, but now even HRT is faster. Maybe they should switch wings with HRT.
