Compared to the other bosses, how hard is the final boss?
Relative spoiler free but just to be secure:
he's pretty easy, beside a QTE before the final blow which can insta kill you.

First time i did the boss was a little challenging but when you know the flow and patterns it's all standart stuff.

i would the last boss is almost one of the easiest.

After all the complaining about zombie baseball, I figured the gondola part would be a breeze and people were just overreacting.

Nope. Gondola sucks.

Super easy
Thanks guys

Edit: no issues except I
failed a QTE near the end of the fight and I had to do the whole fight over from the beginning
... Thats some bullshit

Nope. Gondola sucks.

I actually had to look this up because I beat the game yesterday and I was waiting for this dreaded Gondola part that never came. I beat it on the second try without even realizing it was the part people were struggling with. You guys know that you can shoot obstacles, right?

EDIT: Oh wait, you guys are probably talking about the achievement. I think I actually almost did it on my first try because I didn't realize you could shoot until after I died.

I got a question. How do you get Nick to revive you after you die? This happened to me today while I was playing and I was a little shocked. Juliet dies and falls down then a Nick Ticket was used and Nick in his human body picks her up and you can continue where you left off while full life. Is this random or is there some sort of method to this?

Whenever you're at a Chop 2 Shop, buy Nick Tickets. That's the only (?) way of doing it.

Beat Gondola on my first try. Just take your time.

If you're trying to get the achievement for finishing it WITHOUT SHOOTING, then good fucking luck.

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but Lollipop Chainsaw apparently dominates the Sales Charts this week here in Germany with Place 1 (PS3 version, 360 version is place 10 o_O) according to Media Create at least ;) (don't know how trustworthy they are. And in relation to it being the only new game in the charts apart from Heroes of Ruin and Gravity Rush... but still!). Nice.

As for my playing through the game, made it through the game over 3 times now, for the first time ever I'm going for platinum trophy (before anyone asks, did the Gondola on my 20th-something try :O). I'm still enjoying myself very much, it just feels like a REAL videogame to me. Reminds me of classics and arcadegames, it throws so much crazy stuff at you without trying to be logical or hollywood-ish in its presentation. And the gameplay sure isn't uber-complex or anything, but still fun to me :) This is a great game and I love it, one of my favorites this year so far ^^

Finally unlocked
Mom's costume.
It's not called
"MILF Clothes" as written in some places (just "Mom's costume"),
but I can see why they would have!

Worked for me every time I died with unused Nick tickets.

Weird. I cleared Stage 2 with an A+, but I didn't unlock the achievement for beating Papa Starling's score. I can't imagine that an A+ isn't enough for it, since A's were all I needed for the previous stages. Is this a bug? Can you get these achievements in Ranking Mode... clear two birds with one stone, basically?

I was testing the waters on Very Hard and picked Stage 2 without thinking. Dat baseball part...everyone goes DAMN fast, and one of the pitchers is a named zombie. I still managed to beat it on my first try, but it was actually difficult for once.

I also stupidly did the gondola achievement while on Very Hard. Not sure if it makes a difference but it took ~5 attempts. Sometimes luck just fucks you over.

You can check what dad's score is on the leaderboard. It's kinda weird, I've beaten him in every area before but sometimes his overall score was somehow higher. And yeah, it works in ranking.

So if you have Nick Tickets you can't die? Man this game is pathetically easy even on very hard. Instant health recovery, tons of health pickups, instant dizzy attacks for one hit kills, Overpowered and easily obtained Nick moves and brain dead enemies.

The only enemies that are even remotely hard are the cop zombies because they can attack from long range and do big damage. More than bosses too.

It starts a roulette that you can still fail. You might've been mashing after death and got lucky? Dunno.

This game is a blast, even after beating it, maybe even more so?

I'm working on my Hard Mode run right now and I'm blasting way past Dad's scores with massive Sparkle Hunting combos.

So I beat the game and enjoyed it and am definitely glad I played it, but other than going back for the good ending I can't really see myself picking it up again any time soon. How do you all feel about the replay value? Part of the issue for me is every level has so many little cutscenes and load screens etc, it's just not really conducive for playing over and over again in my opinion.

My copied arrived today and I just finished the farm stage. I'm really loving it because its just downright fun. I'm so happy that the first costume you can buy is hot as hell too as I dont really care fo the cheerleader fit.

I asked this before but has anyone found some rips or screenshots of the concept art yet?

I dunno installing the game makes load times rather quick. I'm in the middle of my second playthrough, and will probably go for a third.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
CVG did a comparison video for 360 and PS3 versions of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRf1WBm0ZnQ

Obviously, it's tougher to tell than with screenshots, but the 360 version seems to have better textures... so that combined with the load times on the PS3 and the screen tearing some are experiencing suggest that the 360 version is the way to go with this one.

My PS3 copy's going back, at least.

I caved and picked it up... its amazing.

The combat is awesome, dont see the complaints. Breezed passed the baseball that seemed to piss off most, so I think this is the game for me!

Beat it, it was enjoyable, but due to my backlog and time constraints, I'm probably not going to play it again. I did like it, but i think i was expecting a little more. It was a bit repetitive, but I still have love for Grasshopper!

Finally got my Platinum. Stupid rainbow dash trophy took me so long. I found the game pretty fun, but I played it one play through too many though.

I do wish it was more clever/subversive like past Grasshopper games, but it was funny enough and played pretty damn well for a Grasshopper joint.

You can skip the cutscenes once you've beaten a stage and are playing it over again, right?

I'm just really happy to see so much love for the game, here on GAF.

I know it's stupid, and basically the opposite of that 'stop liking what I don't like' meme, but... Feels good anyway. :D

I feel the same about Lollipop, it was an okay game but I found it a little disappointing. The writing in particular was a let down, it had a few funny moments but they were all unrelated the games attempted satire.

why do we keep having to go over this? It's only valid up until the second stage and/or you learn that the game is not a button masher. They sponge your attacks because you're supposed to drop their defenses. Your only means of doing so for the first 30 fucking minutes or so is by spamming pom poms until you unlock combos that chain poms with heavy attacks.

Don't keep validating people's misunderstaning of how this works because they, like you, lack patience. This game is anything but hard.

Until you unlock the combos, there definitely is a sponge element to it. Hell even on Very Hard with everything unlocked, the game becomes spongey again. The game is definitely oriented around hard being done in a second playthrough. Is it doable the first time through? Yes but it's an extremely unnecessary pain and for the most part isn't balanced around such.

I finished it up last night, must say its probably the most disappointing grasshopper game.

Still cant quite put my finger on it, but it feels like the satire they were going for in the game just fell flat because of how boring of a character Juliet is.

I hope for a sequel with improved combat, level design, and characters.

Her character grows on you the more you play. I felt like you first time thru, but on repeated play throughs I start noticing every comment she makes about pretty much every action you do in the game. Even though it's stereotypical stupid shit, I still found it entertaining. Zombies taste my chainsaw death!

I completely disagree. Juliet is way more likeable, and has much more of a personality than Garcia Hotspur or the entire cast of Killer 7.

Still can't touch Travis of course.

I felt Juliet herself was a little lacking but I thought her family and the bosses were all really great. If they ever made a Lollipop Chainsaw 2 I'd love to be able to play as the different family members.

I finished it the first time just now, I dug most things about it. The mixture of stuff in the game, from the music themes to the horror themes to the gameplay, were all enjoyable for me. It's all stuff I'm super into and it's great seeing it in a game. My main issue is, even though there's a good deal of replay value, I really woulda liked it to be a little bit longer. Maybe two more stages/bosses worth. As it is, there's like what, about half as many bosses as No More Heroes? I liked it so much that I wanted more.

Edit: Oh, and I've had "Hey Mickey" stuck in my head ever since I started playing. Song is weapons-grade catchy.

Ah, I see. I didn't know that I could check his score. That helps. Thanks!

I've been doing that, but the stupid thing auto-aims whenever you press L2, and it typically locks onto an enemy as far away from Nick as possible. And then the manual aiming is slow as molasses. Argh.

Turn off lock-on in the options and aim for the head. I'm not sure why so many people had issues with this part of the game, I managed to finish it first try on Hard without nick getting hit at all and that was with the lock-on on.

Yeah I replayed it again on Hard but I didn't feel up to going through a third time to unlock costumes and get achievements.

The game is not near as bad as the reviews suggest but the gameplay really isn't good enough to warrant more than a couple playthroughs. All the replayability comes from the NG+ design, not the gameplay.

Got the game in today and started it off. I only made it through the prologue before needing to go out and get dinner but I love it. Then again I knew I would. Combat does seem harder than I thought it would, but I'm trying to use some of advice I've seen.

Do any costumes unlock before beating the game or only after?

And shit, I hope they release the pre-order suits. I know they said they have no plans to and that WB had a history. I just don't wanna pay out the ass on eBay for them. I did get the Foxy Funk or whatever costume for free on GameFAQS. But I want Bettie Page and Jimmy Urine bad. If I had the money at launch, I would have bought all three preorders and returned two copies but oh well.

Just beat it and loved it. Now its time to unlock everything and go for the platinum. Juliet's Mom outfit is freaking hot. I doubt I'll have any luck with his but if anyone has a spare psn code for any of the dlc outfits but preferably the Rockabilly outfit that they don't mind sharing then I would be forever grateful.

I got around 5 before I finished the game.
